Just finished Veil of Shadows and this point makes me super sad 😭😭
It's technically a happy ending for Ji Ling & Lu Wu Yi, but I'm still really sad that "evil" Lu Wu Yi had to die in end. Saving her past self is definitely not the same as saving the present her, who is sadly the last Horcrux. She's Ji Ling's "Ah Wu". She went through countless time-loops to try to save him and finally died in his place. She stayed with the blind just turned human Ji Ling as a doll and even sacrificed one of her tails to save him. They went through so much together and not being able to save that Ah Wu is heartbreaking. Even in her last dying moments she was only thinking of Ji Ling, who couldn't be by her side. So yes, it makes me incredibly sad for that version of Ah Wu who couldn't be saved, because she is the one that deserves a happy ending the most 💔💔

Were there flaws? Oh yes! Were there wasted potentials? Endless Did I like the ending? Not a big fan. Do I regret watching it? Absolutely NOT!
This drama had some gems hardly found elsewhere. The world building was great. My favourite part was the illusion arc. It’s when we got to learn most about the world and characters beyond the main ones. If it had continued this way with all the other arcs it would’ve been great and probably in need of more episodes.
However I didn’t like the pacing after the illusion arc. Many character growths were skimmed through or even skipped for the sake of focusing on 2 main, overly romanticized characters on a repetitive basis.
Though I LOVE the soundtrack here, it just kept going on and on one song after the next with endless flashbacks seen from many perspectives. Sometimes quiet says more than background music.
I have to talk about the fashion design here. It’s beautiful but in fight scenes? Too flowy and impractical! But I think that was part of the choreography style because ALL fights were like that.
I actually finished it a few days ago, but I’ve started rewatching because I feel like I missed smth esp that Li Jie cave scene....I mean, that hanba drought arc.
My li jie, a character so physically commanding that his arms and chest could easily earn their own credit in the opening sequence, his chest has its own gravitational pull that makes it impossible to focus on the subtitles, I suspect his biceps were actually the 11th secret dragon god all along💪
The tragic romance between Wuyi and ji ling is what truly leaves a lasting impact. Their relationship is an agonizing cycle of sacrifice where love becomes both salvation and destruction, I call it a masterpiece because it is rare to find a couple with this level of visceral, aching yearning and you simply cannot find another FC character like Lu wuyi in the world of c-dramas, she is a force of nature, I found myself crying at every little thing🤧because their connection is just that profound, their love isn't just a plot point, it's a haunting emotional experience that stays with you long after the screen goes dark.

as a huge turkish drama fan, this is my first ever c-drama I have ever watched that too also by force from my friends, I never thought I will fell in a love with a c drama like this I was expecting that after I'll watch this I will move on and won't care about it but the tables turned. I am really impressed by the acting of these 4 main leads, I will say this drama is a bit confusing too I feel like the flaw of this drama is they are jumping into different arcs very fastly maybe it's not for everyone but for me it's the only flaw maybe I'll re-watch it again, the ones who played lu wuyi and ji ling are they couple in real life or what?? my friend me so many videos of them they look like a couple are they dating? 👀 and guys please suggest me more dramas like this looks like I am entering the cdrama world 🤭🤭 I love the acting of everyone especially those 2 girls I think they are sisters here I love these two and can someone tell me the ost and the singer's name when lu wuyi was crying while holding jiling on her lap??
