Other cast members have stellar acting in this drama, making his weak acting more visible amongst these best ladies!…
Yes, I've seen him in some older modern dramas and I wasn't a real fan of his acting sometimes. But here, he did really well and was decently expressive and had great chemistry with the FL and the fighting scenes were amazing too. So, overall this is one of the best performances that I've watched of his!

Chu Zhao or Cai Zhao?
both dramas and female lead roles are different but if you're comparing in terms of the plot and the female lead's character, ashes to crown(Chu Zhao/Chen Du Ling) is better but in terms of chemistry with Zhou Yiran, generation to generation(Cai Zhao/Bao Sheng An) is better!

i feel like ZYR’s acting and looks are amazing here. He looks better in historical dramas personally
I feel like he looked better in generation to generation if we're not considering modern dramas but that's probably just me!

Anyone else think Zhou yi Ran seems to be sleepwalking through his role ? Perhaps it’s the screenwriters fault…
for the chemisty to work well, both of them are responsible. I agree Mu Qingyan was a more fascinating character than Xie Yanlai especially in terms of chemistry and the way he carries himself but his position/ titles in both are different so I think its mostly due to the confidence and authority difference of the roles that makes them so different! Yet, you see his love and guilt and other expressions in his eyes. This is my first Chen Duling drama and she was really fascinating to watch till about ep 11 i think but after that I found her character a little annoying but im still in ep15 and saw that her character grew so much better by ep17 in another comment so yayy!!!

Seems like we have different tastes I found Hidden love boring and you rated it 9.5
ohh yes if I have to call anything overhyped(meaning i personally didn't like it that much, then it has to be hidden love and pursuit of jade) but yes, our tastes are truly subjective. just cuz I like something so much doesn't mean the other person has to like it that well or at all. What I generally find an issue with is people who are newly watching cdramas and defending the 3 or so dramas that they have watched with their life and arguing about how they think its the best cdrama ever to people who have watched atleast 50-100 cdramas!

ikik i felt bored too as it got really slow paced from around ep15 to ep30 i guess. some people said that the scriptwriter changed or something like that and that's why we feel the sudden change but trust me it gets really better around ep 30 ish and you'll be in for a treat as you'll see a diff version of tianyao(a really cute one) for a few episodes and the ending and everything else is also pretty good!

How is it open to interpretation? It's clearly a happy ending!
What that makes no sense?! Her brother cried when she left with Mu Qingyan on the Golden Peng because he thought that she's leaving the sect completely and marrying into the Li Sect(demon sect) since he's the chief of the demon sect and it makes the most sense to others. But for Mu Qingyan, he never wanted power like Zhengyang and also the other Nie clan chiefs. He just wanted to avenge the deaths of the few people who had cared for him (Mu Zhengming, his father and Uncle Chang from the Chang Fort). Since he had avenged their deaths, the only other thing he wanted to do was stay by Cai Zhao's side. Since Cai Zhao has always dreamed to be a manager of businesses at Luoying valley, he decided that he will marry into her family instead of the reverse and consequently settling down at Luoying valley itself. Thats why once he was fully cured of the poison and realised that he won't die because of the Disintegration method he used, they flew back to Luoying valley and the wedding was held there within a few days!

I'm no self righteous know-it-all and I'm genuinely sorry if you're actually dyslexic. Yes, I didn't read the whole thread but even if you are dyslexic, it doesn't excuse your ignorance and saying there's a 'gaping' plot hole. If you didn't understand something, there's a better way for asking for clarification. If you genuinely asked a doubt without the unnecessary complaining, maybe you would have been answered nicely too. But whatever I don't wish to say anymore on the topic...

So Ping Shu killed her husband to complete the whatever method right? So WHY didnt Qi Yun Ke kill his wife in…
What the hell bro?! You actually watched everything and you're saying something so stupid? Like no offense to you but what did you watch all this time. It was mentioned from the first episode I think that Cai Pingshu used the disintegration method that Lord Yin Dai taught her to kill Nie Hengcheng. It was a forbidden skill because it instantly killed the victim and also slowly killed the user of such skill. Meaning, Cai Pingshu, the user would die slowly and painfully because she used the disintegration method(acc to the drama, she died after 13 years) and Nie Hengcheng, the victim died instantly on Mount Tu. Originally Nie Hengcheng was supposed to die within 3 years because even though he was acquiring the ziwei method, he didn't know that he also needed his bloodline's internal power. Cai Pingshu didn't want to wait and watch for 3 years until Now Hengcheng dies because of all the people he might kill during that period. That's what Cai Zhao meant when she said that her aunt once said there were two kinds of evil people- one who did evil stuff and the other who stood by and watched the one doing evil without trying to stop him. Mu Zhengyang was the one who helped Nie Hengcheng to acquire the ziwei method but conveniently left out the portion of needing a bloodline too so that Nie Hengcheng will die in 3 years and he can be in power and be the Chief of Li Sect after that. But around the time when he(Mu Zhengyang) and Cai Pingshu married, Cai Pingshu and six other martial artists(her friends-totally 7) mastered the big dipper formation to kill Nie Hengcheng. If they were able to kill Nie Hengcheng, Mu Zhengyang realised that he will never get power nor be able to be the Chief of Li Sect so he ambushed the others when Cai Pingshu was not there and killed 5 of them. Lu Chengnan from the Li Sect(disciple of Nie Hengcheng who tried to take the jade sunflower and who Nie Hengcheng almost killed) went to Cai Pingshu and told her about Mu Zhengyang's ambush. Cai Pingshu heartbroken over her husband killing most of her friends, went and killed him and avenged their death. By the way, Mu Zhengyang too intended to practice ziwei method for power and that's why he went again to take the night orchid from blood marsh forest and also tried to take Mu Qingyan as the bloodline that he needed( this is understood when Mu Qingyan reveals in one of the last episodes to Cai Zhao that his dad had tried to protect him from Mu Zhengyang). He already had the jade sunflower and saliva they previously collected from the snowy mountains. But ofcourse it didn't work out as he was killed by Cai Pingshu way before that. I hope you have understood everything by now!
