I don't understand the hate for Lu Chang. He woke up drugged and on a marriage bed. If he were a woman, we would all say never be in the same room with that family again. So he rejected her because: 1. Married against his will. 2. Didn't want to get her into his master's mess. 3. Doesn't want to use marriage as a political stepping stone.
Then he saved her countless times and risked his life to protect her. He has supported her in each of these investigations and came up with the plans to out perpetrators. He empowered her for the jewelry shop and respects any decisions she made. They argue and resolve things maturely. He sincerely thanks her for everything. He regrets the past. Latest episode, he risked his life and career to see her. He would have died.
He is super calm and prudent about everything but when anyone hurts her, he kicks their butt. He has his petty jealousy, but that's mellowed because he wants her happy. He is her happiness.
2ML is a good guy. She tried, but she's doesn't like him. His family punished him, but will always spoil him. There's no true stakes. He doesn't have any direction for his own career except just to marry her. That's not necessarily a negative but she's not attracted to this type.
