His father is literally of a way higher status and position than he is, and his mother was a servant. It's not weird that he was put under temporary house arrest... this isn't odd. In almost every cdrama I've seen, parents hold a lot of weight when it comes to their children. Even characters like Gu Tingye and Song Mo were put under house arrest, and they were from military backgrounds with many achievements. Also, from the previews on c-sns, he does fight back against his dad.
Ngl, I always have to laugh when I see comments talking about 'western influence' and 'simping' regarding cdramas and female leads. Those comments are clearly from new cdrama watchers because this has been a thing for a long time and does not have to do with so called 'western influence'. I also feel like, because some of you are used to kdramas changing things to cater to western audiences, you think that cdramas are doing the same thing. They are not and never will because their domestic audience sustains them well enough. Also, before someone tries to attack me for this fact, this comment has nothing to do with Neo's lack of screentime. I'm not shading him or his character, and yes, I do agree that he got the short end of the stick regarding YZ, which is... unsurprising given that...it's YZ. He has a track record for this type of thing with whoever is billed first in his dramas. That being said, my main point is that RSB's characterization and the presence of female empowerment in a lot of cdramas had nothing to do with 'western influence' or 'simping', and some of you need to let your obsession with that go. There are lots of other shows/dramas that focus on male empowerment and strong men, so acting like female empowerment/strong female leads is some sort of Western obsession is absurd.

It’s understandable that people are feeling frustrated with the recent episode developments but this show isn’t terrible 😭😭 are most of the characters insane/cold? Tbh, I feel like I disagree with a lot of the comments, and the main reason is that I started this show purely because I liked the matriarchal aspect of it. So a lot of the feelings I have towards the plot are probably different because I never really cared about the romance. It's nice, but idk I don't really feel frustrated. I think I also feel this way because this is the first true reverse harem that I'm seeing in long CDrama form. Normally, it never is, and that annoys the crap out of me because when the roles were switched, back before palace dramas were basically banned, you'd see men with a ton of women, and it's just nice to see it in reverse this time. I also like watching the scheming because, well, I love palace dramas, and this is giving that vibe.
Additionally, YZ is part of this drama, so I never had super high expectations to begin with because I've seen enough of his dramas to know what he typically produces, etc., and this is very on-brand. But not in a perfect-match sort of way; I really hated that drama.
Anyway, I can't wait to see our white lotus second male lead start showing more of his fangs. I'm also really excited to find out how RSB and LJL will end up towards the end of this. All in all, this has been so fun to watch. Makes me miss my palace dramas so so much lmao.
