The longer this drama goes on the worse it gets! The FL is beyond stupid. She is seriously TSTL. It's annoying watching her. The ONLY saving grace of this drama is the ML. He has a presence and I am familiar with this work from Ip Man 2. I would have stopped watching this in episode one if he wasn't in this. He doesn't have a lot to do here except stand around and look ho while slapping the shit out of people. That's fine with me, but the FL is just much and she doesn't have two brain cells to rub together for a spark. She seems to be the archetype for FLs in Chinese dramas.

This hooked me right away. I even shed tears in the first episode. I am curious where this will go. I am intrigued by the set up. Off to binge the rest.

The FL only improves by being off screen. She's back to being a noise machine and clueless nitwit. The mystery is starting to pick up. There are a lot of moving pieces to this drama.

The FL is so ridiculously dumb. She runs around without a care or a clue. It's almost painful to watch her and I'm disappointed that in episode 10, she's still tragically stupid. She's poorly written and poorly dressed. Thank God the ML is awesome!

The FL is very inconsistent. She curses and acts tough, but cries like a whining machine at the drop of a hat.I think she has cried in every episode, and she is not the sharpest tool in the drawer. And FFS, someone explain why she is dressed like a bag lady. Her wardrobe consistent of a long sleeve shirt worn with an ankle length dress and a pair of jeans. I am wondering if the actress is pregnant because who wears that!

The FL is a crying machine. I wish she had a bit more backbone. The ML is hilarious and I like the comedy overall.

I feel like I am lost in translation with this drama. The only reason I continue to keep watching is because of the FL. Even though I find her constant monologue tiring and annoying, she is very cute to watch. I keep waiting for the chemistry between the leads to pick up, but the ML is still stiff as a board. The one thing that makes no sense is what is up with all the damn food?! Does this guy just like eating with the girl who has a healthy appetite? The ML's attraction to the FL is hard to understand and I don't get all the cultural nuance associated with the food. It's...kind of weird, but I'm going to continue to slog through this for the heck of it.

This is one of the best episodes of the season so far. The ML and FL have something important to teach each other when it comes to behavior. She lies to not hurt others, and he’s always truthful to avoid being hurt. It’s two extremes of the same coin.

I can't say I am very interested in the story, but the drama is beautiful just to watch. It has a decently high production value, so the costume and scenery fit the setting very well.

Okay this episode has to get a 10 because I just heard one of the baddest lines in a drama to date. The ML, of course, saves the TSTL FL from rape with the best line ever. Even subtitled it sounded bad ass! Apparently, the FL's effervescent charm causes nearly every male around her to have a boner immediately, but never fear! 2nd Master is there to tell the world the FL belongs to HIM!!!

If 2nd master wasn't so hot I would have dropped this because the FL is TSTL, yet she survives in rough Shanghai because she's the FL...lol. Yet, she did stand to the ML in this episode and I was kind of digging that defiance. It's obviously driving poor 2nd master crazy and I'm down for that.

I usually can't get into C-dramas. The FLs are usually way too stupid for me. Yet, I have made to the 5th episode of Cruel Romance and I realize I will be continuing for Second Master and NO ONE else. The dude from Ip Man 2 is smoking hot with a very nice body, and the drama is not afraid to show that body off...lol...frequently. He's also possessive and too cool for school in his long back trench coat. 40 episodes is a big commitment, but if they keep this up I might actually finish my first C-drama.

The ML is the same guy from Ip Man 2. He was a cutie in that movie, and he's certainly blossomed since then. His portrayal and introduction is what kept me entertained. I like the setting and time period, so I'm going to keep on watching.

Boys over Flowers Episode 3

I am finally getting around to watching the beloved "Boys Over Flowers" and I can see why people like it, but the FL's constant screaming is a bit OTT. I've noticed in older K-dramas they lean more heavily into the slapstick style comedy and that gets tiresome. Yet, three episodes in and I can see why this has stayed on many people's favorite lists. I'm going to try to finish it.

I am loving this rom-come so far. The two leads have a fun chemistry that shines through the entire drama. I love watching these two together, and Da Da finally showed she's not all sweetness and light in this episode. The exchange with the ex-girlfriend is golden.
