Did she suffered ?!?? Oh right she suffered too much to go dating with yi yang .....all the time ?! Or maybe she…
As much suffering as a 25-year-old pampered girl in China could experience in our times. Her mother admitted she's spoiled. Her self-centeredness indicates she has been pampered and not suffered much, if ever, in her life. And she has not really loved before. It seems she just accepted Xing Zhou because he has been pursuing her for many years. But their break-up did not cause her much grief. She was more incensed that in Xing Zhou's eyes, she was worth less than a car. It was her pride, not her heart, that got hurt. Her break-up with Shi Yan did break her heart, first time in her life she suffered such heartbreak.

Actually, she has been suffering from fear that Shi Yan would think she used him to get back at Xing Zhou. But being immature, she kept lying instead of telling him the truth. When she thought she lost him for good, she realized she loved him because she felt the heartbreak. She went along with Yi Yang's antics because he was insistent and she considered him a friend and she made it clear to him she would never see him as more than a friend. The most visible sign of her suffering was her growth in maturity. She did not try to make excuses for what she did as what a spoiled child would have done. She felt guilty and remorseful. She remembers Shi Yan's thoughtfulness and was ready to talk to him in person. Imagine the added heartbreak when she saw him with Fiona. When news of Shi Yan's shareholders broke out, she first thought of Shi Yan's feelings instead of the upgrading of her online magazine. She finally broke down, not caring that her fiercest competitor, Yuling, was there to witness her anguish. She deleted him in her contact list because the pain was too much. And she got sick, most probably brought on by emotional pain and psychological stress that lower the immune system.

Yep totally with you on that. No other actress could have done justice to this role. Her character really drove…
So true! I had never really appreciated Bai Lu's acting before. In some dramas, she acted positively cheesy. But this drama showed a maturity and finesse in her acting that really suited the character. She might still act somewhat cheesy when she's hamming it up for the comic scenes. I can't imagine another actress who could appear so smart and confident yet get you so mad at her cluelessness and wishy-washiness, and still manage to make you root for her 😊

Dylan deserves both his popularity and his performance. His character DFQC is on the financial report for iQiyi…
Wow, even without the purple lights and banners, the response is tremendous. Now I understand why it's called Scream night and why he's the Scream god πŸ˜„

I was actually half-expecting him to leave with nothing. i wouldn't have been surprised at how low iQiyi could get after the Only For Love/Kunning Palace betrayal. I was just wondering why Didi still went to the affair where he could have been made looking really pathetic. I have to admit this apology is better than nothing. It shows a spark of decency in iQiyi and the Chinese Entertainment industry.

I had been thinking of quitting cdramas after Only For Love and just come back when Dafeng is released. But maybe c-ent is not that bad, yet.

If I could give 100 likes for your comment, I would πŸ₯° Such reminders of the heart-warming honor bestowed on him at the event somewhat pacify my rage at what happened with Only For Love and Didi, the sacrificial lamb 😭

Me too, i would have boycotted that eventπŸ˜„ Only For Love could have easily become a blockbuster had iQiyi not cripple it by taking most of Bai Lu's fans away. Didi's fans were left with the gargantuan task of checking tens of thousands of douban reviews and as many if not more weibo posts to report entries of yxh and water armies. And many viewers who still believe in douban and weibo jumped on the bandwagon and propagated the negativity, including the fault-finding. I cry whenever I think of the injustice done to Didi. I think the other platforms are aware of the profundity of what iQiyi did so they showed hearty support for Didi.

Dylan, though quite young and can act his age (childish) at times, is so mature when he needs to be. Such high EQ leaves me in shock at the same time in awe πŸ₯°

Well I got a lot of hate for saying I enjoyed the show LOL
i have stopped reading the posts of some commenters when it was obvious they didn't bother to understand my posts, just as they obviously did not watch the drama to understand it before throwing stones at it

I like it a lot. The fl is a smart hardworking reporter who doesn't have much experience in romantic relationships…

Same here, not to mention being called airhead, braindead and blind by those who criticize the drama but vehemently refuse to be called antis.

Yup, this drama requires a good understanding of the characters to be well-enjoyed. And to fully understand the fl and ml needs a good idea of the world they're living in especially their families, friends, work and other activites. So, skipping scenes could make viewers miss out on some elements that are important to achieving this understanding.

I agree, Shu Yi is mostly admirable. I think Shi Yan is smart enough not to fall totally in love with the girl of his dreams had he found her of lesser stock than what he saw once he got to know her better. She just has a lot of growing up to do and Shi Yan is prepared to make that journey with her as long as she wants to. I think he cut off their communciation to give her time to reflect on what she really wants. And it seems their break-up did knock some sense into her.

he will try to, but he'll just prove to the audience that Shu Yi really loves Shi Yan
Shi Yan is such a jealous guy, it's almost funny that he has to fall in love with a girl who attracts men like bees to honey. but he's also lucky that, for all her flaws, she has some ethical sense, e.g. she refuses to be bribed. Her attempt to flirt with him for ulterior motives ended in such a painful experience that she probably has learned a much needed lesson. I'm now hoping she'll kick her habit of lying because that can really be problematic in their future. So far, since she realized she loves Shi Yan, I have only seen her lie once. That's one lie in a span of 4 or 5 episodes, compared to sometimes numerous times in one episode.

thanks for letting me know and why. it makes sense that fans of other dramas penned by the same scriptwriter would be interested. brave of you to watch it despite what you had read about it. glad the thread does not look as negative as I had felt. hopefully, things will get as rosy in this thread as in the ending episodes 😊

glad you did. Shu Yi is a beautiful and intelligent girl and will draw many men to her. but she has shown how faithful she is. you could tell she treats Yu You and Yi Yang as friends only.

Still thinking whether to watch this or not due to it getting butchered by cut cut βœ‚
the cuts didn't affect the story. they just made the drama less steamy. i even like the drama better without them coz I prefer sweet romance to explicit scenes. the discussion topic "Compiled links of BTS, Deleted Scenes, Extended Ending + Extra Story" has links to cut scenes if you're interested in them

I applaud the scriptwriter for subtly handling a matter that has been bugging me about cdramas - lead characters lying and getting away with it. It seems to me that cdramas depict lying as a smart move, insinuating that being able to extricate oneself from sticky situations by lying is admirable, that white lies cannot hurt.

So, self-confident and self-centered Shu Yi pretends to be a flirt then lies and lies and lies.

But this time, she does not get away with it. She suffers for the web of lies she created.

Hats off to Bai Lu for bringing this flawed and controversial character to life, managing to make Shu Yi someone whose redemption viewers would be eager to see and root for.

I went around looking to see what I should watch next and I noticed OFL has been mentioned in a few of the groups…
I loved it. The characters are multi-dimensional (as they should be but not achieved by a lot of cdramas) who cannot be pegged down with one-liner decriptions like hard-working career girl and cold CEO. They have been fleshed out well with their interactions with each other and with other characters. That's why those who skip scenes risk losing some dimensions of the story.

What do you think of the comment thread? Would you consider it normal, positive or abnormally negative?

I'm curious, in which other groups did you see OFL being maligned?

i cried looking at his innocent face. He's so young, earnest and full of life, but already navigating this treacherous world of Chinese Entertainment industry. I hope he does not get polluted and corrupted.

Yeah, you could tell he was not wholeheartedly happy about it. But one thing I've noticed and admired about Didi, he is diplomatic, though this is not only with him, but something I've noticed in cdramas. Sensible characters do not burn bridges. A good lesson to take heed.

I think that's the purpose of the writer for adding a Yi Yang character. To prove Shu Yi's love for Shi Yan. She…
yeah, she and shanshan are so full of themselves they love toying with people, making assumptions and lying. Her guilt and regret at blowing this best chance at real love is the wake-up she needs.
