Just wrapped Guardians of the Dafeng. Definitely a 10/10! 🌟 Dylan Wang continues to prove why he’s the best.…
I was hoping Lusi would be in this too. But the FL’s family background is similar to the FL’s in Love Like The Galaxy and I heard she doesn’t want to play similar characters. I’m happy with Meng Zi Yi though. She and Dylan have such an explosive chemistry in the Wonderland series that they have CP fans from the variety show lol. Every time they are together, in Hello Saturday and award shows, I could feel sparks fly hahaha

In episode 1 of the novel, she dies by strangulation on her husband's order.

I love your comment. May I re-post it or parts of it? I may exclude those about the movie since it's out of the scope of discussions about the drama.

What is your point? Why shouldn't Dylan be the ML? I don't understand the point of all this.
Her point is to smear Dylan

The producers of the drama were adamant that Dylan play the role. Since 2022, they've wanted Dylan ONLY. That doesn't sound like merely a "convenience" thing. Dylan's Guardians of the Dafeng is one of only three 2025 dramas that garnered more than 2 billion views as of 12/31/2025 (see link below). And it got that viewership even after suffering a massive smear campaign like the one being waged against this new drama now. Makes one wonder how pathetic Dylan haters are, wasting their lives hating a person who doesn't know them. May karma catch up with them.

What's your chart about? See below for the total accumulated views of 2025 dramas. As of 12/31/2025, only three 2025 dramas accumulated over 2 billion views:
Legend of Zang Hai - 2.23 billion (Xiao Zhan)
Guardians of the Dafeng - 2.21 billion (Dylan Wang)
Love's Ambition - 2.16 billion (Zhao Lusi)

I've seen rumors for this production project since forever, and never took them seriously because of the revolving…
Dylan Wang's movie was expected to fare behind other movies released in the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) because it was a filler and given the worst schedule. Director Han Yan originally planned to release it during the summer vacation, but another film withdrew from the Spring Festival at the last minute and PAAA was pulled in as a filler, with no authority to refuse. He was surprised with the bad schedule, with screen times mostly in early mornings, e.g. from 1 am to 4 am. Who would be awake from 1 am to 4 am to watch a movie? It seems the production team is not experienced in how movies are scheduled during Spring Festival and obviously didn't expect to be given such preposterous and ruthless schedule. The silver lining is that both the movie and Dylan are praised highly by critics. Netflix bought the rights to it and will show it globally in the summer. It's also going to be shown in theaters in countries like Australia, Germany, Malaysia, New Zealand and UK, showing their appreciation for the movie.

Here I am thinking this is a dynamic pairing. My last Dylan Wang drama was LBFATD. He was outstanding! My last…
I had expected the uproar. Many fandoms have been clamoring for their faves to be cast in this great classic. This drama was written in 2010s and became much loved. But the producers couldn't find the right leads, thus the production had been pushed for many years. I heard that Zhao Li Ying was approached to play the FL when she was much younger. That was how long this drama has been in the making. In 2022, the producers finally saw their perfect Xie Jing Xing in Dylan. I'm not sure when they decided on Meng Zi Yi playing the Fl, but I'm happy with the decision.

I am not sure if I am going to like this plot. The FL is reborn after being executed under her husband's orders.
For me, it's the ultimate fantasy. Who doesn't want to go back to the past, right or avoid the mistakes made, and exact justice against those who hurt you and your loved ones? This is one of the best Chinese novels I've read so far.

I agree. He is wasting his time on other pursuits. I hope he realizes and cares that viewers feel more attached…
Me too! I was hesitant about sounding unsupportive of his projects, but he needs to rest, and these side projects are depriving him of much needed rest. And yeah, frying CP is beneath him. He should also beware of over-exposure.

Sorry but he's one of the least talented Chinese actors
If you haven’t watched Love Between Fairy and Devil, Guardians of the Dafeng, The Rational Life, Unchained Love, Never Give Up, Youth in the Flames of War and his movies, you have no right to talk about his talent

How ironic. This novel was written long before most, if not all, dramas that have been airing recently were made. Some dramas probably copied parts of it. I know one that has a marked similarity with the FL’s family background..

Exactly! He is such a formidable character that he lingered longer in my thoughts after reading the novel. I had actually wished there was an accompaniment novel from his POV, like how Midnight Sun tells the story of Twilight from the POV of Edward Cullen. I hope the drama will tell the story from BOTH SM and XJX's POVs.

I agree. XJX's story did not only start when he met SM. He led a very colorful life before they met. So, it would be good for the drama to show that from the start, instead of it just being perfunctorily discussed or just a part of SM's "dreams" as is done in the novel. But this can be the best drama in history and Dylan's antis would still call it trash. Most of this hate is from other actors' fans who wanted their faves to get the part. They don't know the producers have been wanting Dylan to play XJX since 2022.

Both the leads are exquisitely beautiful such that those who are biased against extremely good-looking people, thinking they can't possibly be so talented, grossly underestimate their talents. Watch their dramas first before judging (Love Between Fairy and Devil and Guardians of the Dafeng for him, Love in Pavilion and Blossom for her).

Everytime a man gets billed first in the adaptation of a completely female centric novel the scriptwriter of A…
First of all, the producers were the ones who insisted on Dylan playing XJX. They have been eyeing him for the role since 2022. If you bothered checking out Dylan's choice of projects, he has been avoiding romance dramas lately. Second, there's no report of Dylan acting like a diva. He has always been considered one of the best behaved cdrama actors; he has been in the TOP 3 kindest actors list for several years now. In addition, he doesn't need anything to look cooler because he is naturally cool. Third, there is no official word from the production team whether the drama is going to be male-centric. Even if it becomes one, that is the scriptwriter's prerogative. It's an "adaptation", not a word-for-word translation of the novel into drama form. In fact, there would already be changes in the "rebirth" part since C-Ent does not allow rebirth in dramas.

This being made into a male-centric drama is just a rumor, most probably spread by antis who have nothing better to do with their lives than sabotaging Dylan's every move.

If her story remains intact, what's misogynistic about it? One can tell a story about women from different perspectives. That has been done since time immemorial. These attacks are just plain sabotage. It's not even known yet if the POV is going to change.

I think the drama is going to be balanced, neither female-centric nor male-centric. I also think those who are making a big fuss of this issue are just out to sabotage the drama.

Here's an interesting comment on Twitter/X about the female-centric nature of the novel and the rumor it's going to be turned into a male-centric drama that a post claimed the novel readers won't allow:

"I wouldn't underestimate the intelligence of the readers of this novel. Intelligent people are flexible and can adapt to changes. Changing perspectives is part of their DNA, that's why they're the lifeblood of human progress. Sticking to one POV is to doom oneself to stagnation."
