It used to be higher but TTEOTM got a lot of accolades(viewing data+merch sales+positive tourism effect etc.) and was even featured on Alibaba's financial report so afterwards, there was a week when a bunch of haters came in and downvoted it. Boo to infantile jealousy!

That was TTJ's essence in the HGS. In xianxia, even a wisp of essence usually implies a chance of healing and with a long cultivation period can have a solid form again. It was shown that he was serene and smiling. That's why many of us interpret it as an optimistic OE. TTJ will eventually emerge from the scale. In the drama, they only showed the events after 500 years so he is still healing after his soul was shattered to pieces by the Path of Sadness/Compassion. He will just have to "incubate" a bit more. 😂 In the novel, it actually took 1000 years for him to have mortal form again and became Bai Ziqian. His daughter with Li Susu nicknamed A Mi was the trigger for him to be reunited with Li Susu again. 😊

LYX and BaiLu's acting are excellent but they are not the only reasons why TTEOTM broke records and became the King of Xianxia in the last few years. I saw it on Youku at 1080p as it was airing and the per episode CGI was pretty good. Comparing for example the dragon of Back from the Brink (which was released right after TTEOTM), one can see the TTEOTM one was superior. The battle between ADG and the 12 Gods also showcased really beautiful CGI. I read the novel before this one aired and they did well in adapting the mortal arc. The dream arc was too long (guessing they spent so much money and time on that to cut it up) and the immortal one too short/choppy because production was constrained by the abrupt regulation change at the time of a 40ep limit. I like the sprawling beauty of this compelling story of redemption, love, and ability to break beyond what one is fated to do. Ultimately, TTEOTM is not perfect but in my objective opinion as a drama watcher for years, it deserves more than an 8.6 and that's on periodt! 😉🫶

Actually, it was not a never ending cycle because LSS stepped in and went back to the past. Because of her, TTJ from that timeline developed self-awareness and learned not just romantic love but love for all. He also liberated himself (and all the realms) from the machinations of ADG. Frankly, production team did LSS dirty in the last bit of the immortal arc but still BaiLu certainly acted very well alongside LYX. They made this work. 🫶
