I watched till.ep.4. Northward is great! It is very obvious that they took so much care with the cinematography, color grading, and scoring. It reminds me of those older European films with the soft intrumental music playing very softly in the background. The shots and transitions between periods and scenes were impeccable.
Since I'm a 90s kid, the story gives me so much nostalgia - reminding me of a time when my family lived in a port town with the neighborhood being more like a family - the oldies chatting and eating while kids were running around playing.
The casting is spot on, too. It is a good mix of veteran and upcoming artists.
I'm really enjoying this slice of life drama. It is a good change from xianxias/costume dramas. 😁

Yep, she will come into her own. :) It helped that Wei2 was gorgeous so I just focused on him first while she was getting her act together hahaha

Ep.40 was a neat wrap! Blossom CP is called ZhaozhaoMomo like in the lyrics of their ost, a homophone of zhao zhao mu mu (lir.from dusk till dawn) which means together day and night/all time. Very romantic, right? I had brainrot about them for weeks haha

Just finished Divine Tree! How to have a love like RanShui? 😍 These two are amazing at having each other's back (and apparently on their backs 😉🤭😂). It was great to see the growth of the main and side characters. Finally we have sects who did not stay morons and actually fought together for the realm.
Wei2's acting has improved so much - with depth but also subtlety. He nailed all of his scenes while looking stunning. Hoping for more great roles for him! 👏👏👏 First time to watch Hanzhi and found her more natural as MQG although Ran2 did become better over time. Wished for less screentime for MRW and SuYu. Thank you FFWD button. Wei Jiu was adorkable. Btw, is Elder Tu's baby like A Mi who needed a long incubation time? 3 years and counting... 🤣 Generally, the whole cast was good and respect to them for filming in winter.*🗣🥶*
The cinematography was spot on and the CGI was impressive especially for the last few episodes. Money well spent! I also liked the scoring because the bgm and sound fx were used just right and not too in your face. Overall, it was a satisfying watch! 9/10
