Only 635 watchers? This drama should be more popular. Anyone knows how it did on China?
Douban rating went from 7.7 to a 7.9 so rating wise, it is definitely seen as a good drama. Online viewership wise, it can't compare to Sun Li's previous dramas (so some have said it is considered a "flop" for her) but C-dramas viewership has declined in general.

This drama didn't get a lot of promo to begin with because of the main actor, Wu Kangren (the whole whether his statement was pro One-China enough back when he signed to a Chinese agency and transitioned from Taiwan to China for his career). Production probably didn't want people to bring that up and start talking about it instead of the actual drama.

Overall, it is considered a good drama with great acting. I can see both of them being nominated for acting awards for the next tracking year.

Just a suggestion: since it can mean different things and not all of us are familiar with different abbreviations,…
Just made an edit and explained the usage as a slang term on Chinese internet. 😊

Thank goodness that YL still had other people in her life from Officer Li to her "ex"/senior brother. Despite the attempts to remove all her connections, she still had people in her life that support her and know what kind of person she actually is (assertive, wants to do the right thing, doesn't give up easily, etc.). PUA can never work entirely when a person still has others in their life and recognize when something is wrong.

This drama is such a good reminder that if you ever share your vulnerabilities with your partner and they throw them back at you during arguments, it is time to RUN.

Not sure what episode you got to yet, but it actually shows later on what actually happened between him and his sister. LL has very twisted feelings about his sister; love, abandonment, resentment, guilt, etc. She was the person who protected him and the person who "betrayed" him in his mind. His first girlfriend just exacerbated those feelings he already had and proved once again he was "right".

Yup, he really isolated her and got rid of her support one by one.

I am just curious why Luo Ling is targeting Yan Ling. Like this lady has suffered already...After this ordeal,…
YL reminds him of his sister and himself. The women he went after all exhibited similar traits as his sister (the hair cutting scenes for example were parallels). YL also had a very traumatic past, yet she survived so she is a lot more resilient compared to all his other preys he had so far.

Right? And these types of men always target weaker women/women with trauma already instead of going after other terrible people. These men are cowards because these women with trauma are less likely to fight back effectively.

To see them onscreen is unsettling...and to hear they are inspired by real life cases feel horrific 😢
Yeah, a lot of these cases were defining cases that introduced a lot of "new" concepts to China at the time such as PUA/emotional abuse. People were experiencing those things but didn't have the words for it until some of these cases.

Side note, the cases in this drama are also based on some real-life cases (someone made a comparsion): xhslink.com/o/80cm8bkKfLa

What was ML thoughts about FL.. he intend to keep the marriage or was she his potential future prey ...?He seemed…
I think for a brief second, he was moved because he saw himself in YL. That scene when YL begged him not to leave her alone and leave her behind. He saw himself in her when he was begging his sister not to leave. He therefore did intend to keep the marriage and trap her to the point where she won't ever leave him either or forget about him. But there is no love in it as he was seeing himself and his sister in her (it is narcissism). YL was also just more "perfect" compared to all his other preys. She was resilient and had shadows of his sister.

Said he only wanted to call/tell YL when he got the phone call about his father's death, but he actually asked…
Agree, and adding in YL's own tragic past, LL was basically the "perfect" person for her. He created a version of himself that would fill all the gaps in her life as he was fated for her. I have seen comments on Chinese social media saying that even they too get tricked by him sometimes despite knowing everything. It is the flicker of his true self here and there which then led to some false illusion that there is actually love in this.

Still upset with YL's mother:
If YL wasn't revealed to have been groomed and assaulted as a teen, she probably won't have felt guilty over her constantly using YL's father's death to guilt trip YL. It took abuse for her to recognize and admit she just needed someone to blame for the father's death, and she used her own daughter.

If YL wasn't groomed/abused, she probably would never have apologized at all. Just upsetting to see parents take out their stress/anger on their own children and then try to fix things when it is almost too late.

Yu Kexin:
Gasp, knew she might have been a potential scammer when it was mentioned she kept on drinking cold water despite being pregnant (though her excuse was about her being used to it when she was abroad). And when the lawyer clocked she seemed smarter than she let on in front of YL. Well played.

Definitely scary to see it unfold because from her POV, he really seems like such a good person. He is smart, gentle, "emotionally available", listens to her, help her solve her problems, etc. These kinds of men are the most frightening because it is really hard to clock them until it is too late.

He was so calculated and mean at this scene. His acting was so good. His changing face was amazing. I was scared…
Yes! You can tell he was annoyed that the nurse didn't drop everything at once to agree. He wanted someone that would put him first and do whatever he wants and whenever he wants just from that scene alone.
