They had to change the origin aspect of Qin Wan because transmigration trope is not allowed in C-dramas currently. Because of that change, several things had to change too but I think it still lined up quite nicely and it makes sense IMO. But you can always just see this drama as an AU of the novel.

She is adopted by them, but she is still part of the Qin family because as "Qin Wan", she is blood-related to them. Her last name as Qin will be tied to the Qin family's fate. The main purpose of the adoption is just so 1st branch can't arrange marriages for her and to have Yue family as her backing in case anything happens. As long as she carries the name "Qin Wan", Qin family matters will affect her.

Yup! Some of the cases will be "simple" but other ones more "difficult" in figuring out who did what. But I am enjoying the motives of these characters and how the actors/actresses are acting them in order to give them life. These cases are more tied down to reality and reflect what happens in our society because these are humans at the end of the day.

But with this drama's airing, the novel has now shoot up to #1 on those web novel sites which means people are now reading the novel because of this drama (usually it is the other way around). This drama is doing really well, enough for people to even go read the novel.
