Haha, she does know at this point that he treats her really well. Remember the conversation with Fu Ling. Fu Ling asked her if she ever considered that Yan Chi likes her and her reply is that she can't return that feeling (due to her false identity + using him). Fu Ling straight up said that's okay he can have a one-sided love for you! 🤭 So deep down, she definitely knows but she is being very logical about it but well, she won't be able to stop it as they will be working with each other more and more. She is already so comfortable with him too and lets him get into her personal space so much already.

Yup, it is just medical/factual terms for her. 🤣 While Yan Chi /has/ been in the military since he was 10 years old so although he has a strategic brain, relationships with women aren't exactly his forte (BUT THEN he is also very smooth with Qin Wan later on too so phew).

This one is more about why the murder happened aka the psychology of the human heart. It is pretty easy to guess the murderer for case 1 (due to only a few suspects) but I think the beauty of it is more of how our FL pays respect to the victim's body. Case 1 is also considered the simplest case of all 8 cases.

Case 2 has a lot more twists and turns, but the underlying theme is still about the evilness/hypocrisy of humans. Case 1 and 2 are also focused on women and their standings in a more historical standing.

So if you want a detective case where you can't guess the murderer straight up then this might not be it for you. I feel like the cases here are more about the victims as our FL is a coroner.

There is only 1 Qin Liang, the one who died saving Shen Wan.

Madam Qin is the second wife, and she gave birth to the 3rd son of the Qin family aka Qin An so she really only cares for the 3rd branch since that is her biological son's direct family. The other 2 (one being Qin Liang) were from the former wife.

There is this one particular scene that shows the difference between Qin Wan and Yan Chi quite well in episode 7. In the carriage scene when they were talking about syphilis prognosis, Qin Wan straight up said sex/intercourse while Yan Chi stuttered and said the lover (for the) secret meeting instead. 🤣

Bunch of people rated episode 8 really low so it is 4.7/10 on the episode guide which decreased the overall score. I think people will have to rate the episodes more on the episode guide so it can counter whoever is rating those episodes as 1 star because we know these people are not watching this drama.

Yeah, these subs are pretty lazy. I wish they do footnotes on the screen for context too but then these platforms only do bare minimum subtitles since they know viewers can still get by.

It really is doing so good and already better than any expectation ppl/fans had for it. This drama really deserves it.

Summarizing Qin family's current family chart for anyone who is confused (based on the drama as of episode 8):

Qin family has 3 branches based on the 3 sons from the second generation: Qin ? (name not revealed yet/first branch), Qin Liang (second branch), and Qin An (third branch).

***First generation:
Grandfather Qin was the former Marquis of Zhongyong and he has already passed away.

Grandfather Qin had a legitimate wife (who also passed away already) who birthed 2 sons; Qin ? (name not revealed yet in the drama) and Qin Liang.

The current Madam Qin who is in control of the household is the second wife of Grandfather Qin. She birthed Qin An.

***Second generation:
1) First son: Qin ? (name not revealed yet in the drama). Current Marquis of Zhongyong, in the palace currently, and regarded highly by the crown prince.

2) Second son: Qin Liang (the one who saved Shen Wan in the beginning). He is not close to the family and left to live in the Medicine King Valley years ago. His wife also passed away years ago and his daughter is Qin Wan (passed away a year ago at the start of the story).

3) Third son: Qin An (the man playing with the crickets in episode 1). Qin An's legitimate wife is Qin Lin (she is weak-willed and is seen hanging around Madam Qin a lot) and they birthed 2 children: Qin Chen and Qin Xiang. Qin An also has concubines and has children with them. His favorite is concubine Liu.

1st Young Master: Qin Chen (ambitious and very different from his dad). His legitimate wife is Xinlan and she is currently pregnant. Legitimate son of Qin An.

2nd Young Master: Qin Li (the one who has syphilis). Son of Qin An and one of his concubines.

5th Lady: Qin Xiang (Madam Qin's favorite granddaughter). Mrs. Huo wanted her to marry Huo Ning instead of Qin Wan. Legitimate daughter of Qin An.

6th Lady: Qin Shuang (the one who got canned for talking shit about the Grand Princess and who Qin Wan saved from the well). Daughter of Qin An and one of his concubines.
