If their love is messy, poorly done, underdeveloped, or forced, then 98% of drama love stories would be unbearable to watch. Uk and Mu Deok are as good as it gets so far for a pair that hasn't realized their hearts yet. The Hong sisters are soo good, they make everyone believable and very natural as to who they love. It's evident and clearly strong, all of the characters from Uk, Mu Deok, Yul, Crown Prince, Dang Gu, Cho Yeon, Park Jin, Maidservant Kim, to even the Heo girl right now. I fail to see what you mean. I'm quite impressed with the writing of this drama.

Yes, I'm going to be honest too, Uk and Mu Deok's love is one of the most well written stories without all of the repetitive and same old troupes every drama has done. What do you expect? Love at first sight because she's so pretty and he's so handsome? The excessive usage of slow motion to emphasize their growing feelings? The damsel in distress of Mu Deok falling from the tree, tripping over something, so Uk can catch her and their eyes meet in slow motion?

Love just happens, no? Do we always need a reason? With that thinking, that's why the writers always fall back on making the female lead the prettiest or the male lead a stoic hot god of war that every maiden in the kingdom chases after, so there's a reason for the love. Lol Thank goodness this drama isn't basic like that. Both Uk and Mu Deok have wits, brains, and charms, that's why they like each other and are perfect for one another. It wasn't love at first sight but even stronger than that.

I think anyone who has watched this show can see from Episode 2 how easily Uk, Yul, and the Crown Prince can fall in love with Mu Deok. Mu Deok is soooo lovable and unique. She made those exceptionally great men fall for her without being the prettiest, all out of her wits, sacrifices and loyalty for Uk. She's different not just by having other characters say so like other dramas but her actions speak volumes.

Just because Uk and Mu Doek don't throw sweet words at each other, don't do the typical stuff doesn't mean they're underdeveloped. In contrast, these 9 episodes have shown way more than enough that they love each other. They just haven't realized it or admit to it yet because THEY WEREN'T suppose to. They were only business partners, so they're still in denial and pursuing their goals.

Naksu doesn't want to fall in love. She knows that makes her weak.

I really enjoyed Episode 9. We've already had a lot of action in previous episodes, so it was nice to see the relationships build up more seriously, heart wise. Sure, we could do without the side characters, but that's life, sometimes, you don't realize your feelings for someone until you see them with someone else and it stirs up your emotions. I can't wait for Mu Deok to realize her feelings for Jang Uk, too. The Heo girl is okay for now. I hope she doesn't turn evil and get in the way of our leads. We have enough of those already. Maybe she can pair up with the Crown Prince?

I feel so sorry for Mu Deok for feeling abandoned, for Yul who's risking everything to protect Naksu, and the Crown Prince for being super generous on Uk because he doesn't want to hurt Mu Deok. It's all a one sided for them right now.

They're youngsters still finding a place in the world and discovering their heart. I love this drama more and more as each episode adds more layers to the characters.

I hope they don't drag out that thief's story or complication regarding Mu Deok's identity. Ugh, that girl irks me. The way she mistreats Mu Deok just by words so far. She's gonna really annoy and frustrate me as Jin Mu will end up using her. I hope her existence and purpose starts and concludes in one episode like Cho Yeon's drama.

My favorite scene was when Maidservant Kim told Mu Deok that Uk loves this secret girl who's an egg. OMG!!! Hahaha. It was soooo bittersweet. And it was perfect timing when Mu Deok was doubting Uk and at her lowest. They're the cutest! It's literally only been half a day and they miss each other so much that it drives them crazy. Hahah. "ONLY LOVE CAN HURT LIKE THIS!"

LOVEEEEE THIISSSS! Yes, this episode was good, not lacking or boring at all. Come on, I'm here for the romance too. All action packed is too much sometimes.

Nah, xianxias are so boring these days. Besides, this is nothing like xianxia. So far, there are no gods, celestials, demons, fairies, 3 lifetimes, foxes, and the usuals yet but even if there are, I'm sure they'll be twists interestingly enough to stay tune for. Haha. It's quite silly to push that narrative. The master and pupil arc in xianxias are so repetitive and 40-50+ episodes are such a dread lately. Biases aside, this is one of the most original and intriguing plots, scripts, and dramas ever. I love xianxias ever since Ten Miles but for the past 5 years, that genre has been overdone. This drama is truly a breath of fresh air in the fantasy genre.

I like that Yul is making Uk realize his feelings for Mu Deok and vice versa with Cho Yeon.

Every episode is so unpredictable and leaves me awestruck when it ends. Wow! I'm soooo amazed at everything especially the storyline, script, and development of the characters plus their relationships.

I honestly don't find anything wrong or boring with the "love triangle" at the moment. I don't even think there's one YET. Personally, I think love triangles are when everyone knows who everyone loves YET the second male lead won't let go. He persists and pursues the female lead believing that her heart will change if he does better than the male lead or if the male lead messes up. He won't allow the leads to be together and creates drama to separate them like Ashes of Love. Lol When it comes to the Hong Sisters, they create one of the best second male leads like in You're Beautiful. Sure, the second male lead, Shinwoo, loved the female lead, Mi Nam, BUT NEVER ONCE did his love for her become selfish or blind. His love for her was so pure and admirable and never once burdened her. I hope Yul is like Shin Woo in You're Beautiful. A love triangle is beautiful if done right. Why don't people like them? When it portrays real life?! When a couple marries, there's always someone or people crying on the side because it wasn't them. Hong Sisters have the talent to create non-toxic second male leads and they are as memorable as the leads.

I've rewatched Episode 6 for the 4th time already, soooo good.

Episode 5 favorite scene: When the dog obeyed Uk out of fear because he recognized him as the one who broke his home vase. Lol

Episode 6 favorite scene: Too many but...
1. When Mu Deok was going to throw away the bird flute in the fire.
2. When Uk poked Mu Deok in the eyes and then she poked him back, hard. Haha.
3. When Maidservant Kim said she'll give a good amount of money to that girl so she can crack open her egg and fly away. Haha.

I haven't seen every single Chinese drama out there, but I think the plagiarism allegations are a far stretch. Koreans have done fantasy before like Bae Yong Joon's The Legend. That's the only one that automatically comes to mind because the storyline was pretty unique, at least, in the beginning. Haha. I actually watch Chinese dramas more than Korean because I grew up with them, I go way back to the TVB days with my parents. Haha. I don't really see enough similarities to say it's plagiarism?

So from their logic, I guess, only Chinese leads can wear blindfolds? They're the only ones who can wield powers and fly into the skies? And the complaint that ancient Korean towns or kingdoms didn't look like Daeho?! Um, okay. It's a fantasy after all? They look like the author's imagination. The fantasy kingdoms in Chinese dramas don't reflect the truth either. Why? Because they're not supposed to. They're made up. All Chinese fantasy dramas are beginning to wear similar clothes over and over again. Has anyone seen Luo Yunxi? I adore him by the way. China had a huge influence on their surrounding neighbors, so of course, there are going to be some similarities regarding clothes, the art of fighting, religion, to even wine jars. Why is there always some type of culture appropriation these days with everything?! Is it really that hard to accept that perhaps two countries that are right next to each other share more similarities than differences?

Anyway, the storyline is different. It's a breath of fresh air. The Hong Sisters have always had a knack for fantasy. The cast is fantastic. The leads are awesome. The script is SO GOOD especially the comedic relief. I'm really loving this drama despite the chirping birds that have nothing to do than tear something really good down.

To be honest, it's hard to find a good drama these days, both Korean and Chinese alike. I'm just happy my weekends are reserved for this. Oh another thing I love about this drama is, JSM as Mu Deok is so plain and not catchy to the eye which allows her to build her character versus Chinese fantasy dramas now where they focus too much on looks and not enough on acting and script. Everything makes sense in here.

I think there's so many Chinese fantasy dramas these days that they just assume that anything similar is a copy which isn't true. Lol

This drama is EPIC! Episode 3 was even better than the first two. I haven't seen such an awesome drama in years, Chinese and Korean, alike.

Amazing. Such a great story so far. The leads, the acting, the chemistry, the cute relationship of the Four Seasons, how everyone just obeys Uk. Haha, finally, I have a drama to look forward to again.

Awesome, thank you. I think it's best to film the entire drama before airing for fantasy genres because it requires a lot of post production CGI effects, so often times, filming and airing at the same time cheapens everything due to the lack of time and budget as the story progresses.

I'm not sure if A Chinese Odyssey was filming and airing at the same time, but I'm assuming they did because the story was all over the place after Episode 5. We never got the full story of the Bull, his wife, and child. I was looking forward to their story so much but it fell flat and was super rushed just to get something in. The zombie girl and her evil spirit possession highjacked the show for the latter half. Ugh.

I really like this pair separately so I was thrilled to see them collaborate. The Hong sisters sort of have a habit of good beginnings, draggy midways, and disappointing endings. Lol The only drama that was good from the beginning to end is You're Beautiful.

Has this drama finished filming? I hope so. I don't want any interference or delays in between for airing the episodes.

So is Yan Dan, Yang Zi's character, the older or younger twin? Just wondering.

I guess it's preference. I was never really interested in Cheng Yi, who I saw in Love and Redemption, which I dropped. I know, right? I'm so the minority from the waves and waves of avid fans. However, after watching the trailers and music video for this drama, Cheng Yi's acting has definitely leveled up. Or perhaps it's the overall production, Yang Zi, and everything that makes this drama so enticing.

After watching the trailers and music video, I'm now impatiently waiting for this one. I hope it delivers a memorable story. I haven't seen Yang Zi ever since Ashes of Love. I wasn't a fan of this pairing or drama in the beginning, so let's see what happens.

I stayed and wasn't disappointed at all with the ending because the entire drama was just so sloppily produced from the beginning. The directing, acting, script, and storytelling was already messed up from the very first episode and each episode kept going downhill as the story amounted to nothing, people died in vain, boring conversations, old mind controlling gigs, characters that spent too much time doing useless stuff.

The comments about LYF not wanting to do another period drama because of the negative feedback is sort of like a joke. It's as if he has no fault? I would like to blame the directing, script, and storytelling for all the negative feedback but I can't. The lack of life in his and Yukee's acting added to the problems. Again, I was never convinced on how much the leads loved one another even when they made sacrifices and all. They both need major improvements. Their eyes were dead most of the time so I hope they take this as a good lesson. It's a pity because in the middle episodes, they actually had a good amount of cute scenes. If LYF truly wants to avoid another disaster, he needs to avoid this cast and crew.

I don't know how anyone can complain about Yan Xi and Na Sheng when they BARELY had any scenes together. Their scenes were so few and short in between that even if you took out their scenes, it wouldn't take or add to the drama. Perhaps people disliked them so much, one scene is the length of ten scenes to them. Hahah.

The writers sabotaged Na Sheng's character so badly. They purposely made her annoying. I'm not surprised though. I mean, the writers couldn't even write Su Mo and Bai Ying's love story right, how in the world can they write any others better? There were so many unanswered questions.

For those defending Bai Ying of how sad her story of being unable to choose and living her life for others and so forth was, how mature, how admirable she suffered in silence was, I get it. BUT the problem is Yukee. She failed at delivering those emotions, that connection, what makes Bai Ying relatable to girls out there who would fall madly in love with someone like the handsome and mysterious Su Mo. Yes, it's Yukee. I'm sure her fans aren't happy about that but it is what it is.

The only saving grace in this circus was Zheng Ye Cheng. My golly, this boy can act. Although they gave him the most boring lines and scenes, he delivered them all so well, making me sympathize with his character. See? Did you see how different he played those two characters? His eyes, they had so much emotions in polar opposites, one to destroy and the other to save? I'm now a fan. Haha.

I agree with the Douban ratings. This drama just had so many issues. Finally done watching this one, onto Cheng Yi and Yang Zi's. Lol

I would've dropped this if not for Na Sheng and Yan Xi. They have limited short scenes yet their chemistry and actions are so much cuter, genuine, and deeper than Su Mo and Bai Ying all together. They just make sense. You can see their quick progression of feelings. Su Mo and Bai Ying act like they're in this torturous forbidden love affair but it wasn't that deep y'all, not 100 years ago, not now, it just isn't no matter how hard they try to make it seem that way. I think it's both leads who lack natural chemistry to prove to the audience that they're so in love with one another and then the storyline had no build up either so it's very unconvincing. Bai Ying keeps telling Su Mo to forget about everything and move on and I'm like, forget what? It wasn't that memorable y'all. They just began liking each other then bam, her seal broke, she jumped off and he didn't go after her like Ye Hua. Lol

Anyway, I find Na Sheng to be a breath of fresh air from the entire Yun Huang world. I just wished they left her character as big as it should've been in the novel accordingly to what the readers have said. Everyone is so mean. Sure, they have their own reasons and circumstances too but it's not like Na Sheng doesn't have a sad story either. She's the weakest, a mere human, yet is hunted down because this powerful ring that hasn't done much yet chose her. Haha. Her boy Yan Xi is sooooooo darn cute. Na Sheng delivers when it comes to emotional scenes like when they were being attacked out in the streets and she realized how much of a hell hole Yun Huang truly was. That was a good scene that Yukee would've ruined. The actress that plays Na Sheng isn't pretty but she delivers. I feel like Yukee is pretty but because she doesn't have the natural grace and elegance like Bai Ying is supposed to have as a princess and sword apprentice, she tries too hard to act out elegance, then it comes off boring and emotionaless. All of Yukee's scenes have been lackluster. Then let's not even mention LYF either. They try to make his character so aloof, cold, smart, mysterious, interesting, only having a soft spot for Bai Ying that he's just plain rude and mean to Na Sheng. Lol None of these characters are smart at all.

The storyline, the pace, the acting, the props, the script ALL lack to say the least. I'm still watching but just sharing some honest options and feedback. I hope people can keep an open mind that not everyone likes this drama. I don't. There's so many loopholes yet I'm still here because I think Na Sheng and Yan Xi's story, the actors themselves, are a hidden gem in here. Hehe.

What was the purpose of this movie? Art films should still have some direction or meaning. I couldn't connect the dots besides what a messy world they live in.

In human reality, life and death are meant to be simple. Thus, this movie captures the essence of life's simple meaning. I really enjoyed this movie. I'm glad it wasn't too in depth like how others were disappointed at or else the storyline would've dragged into something ridiculous. I've seen enough of that, so I appreciate the simplicity of the storyline and raw acting. All of the stories, characters, and relationships came full circle within a few scenes towards the end with no loose ends. That takes skills nowadays. Movies and dramas always feel a need to exaggerate feelings and emotions these days which come out so forced and dramatized that I can barely recognize genuineness now. There was a cute bond between Ki Hun and Seobok which grew stronger through the little scenes and short yet deep conversations that totally made their bromance bittersweet with a blend of tragedy.

I just love the overall simplicity of this movie, seriously. Being alive is beautiful, period and there doesn't have to be any other reason why. You don't have to have anyone or anything you're living for. I like this angle of life from this movie. It could just simply be life that you're living for and want to continue living. You don't have to live an awesome life for life to be beautiful. Both Ki Hun and Seobok lived crummy lives yet they don't want to die. Everyone just wants to live and live with meaning. I'm happy that the encounter with Seobok healed Ki Hun. He redeemed himself from his guilty past. Ki Hun is a human too. He has fears, made mistakes, and lives in guilt and depression like the rest of the world. However, now, he's able to die in peace. He won't run away anymore just like Seobok who faced his own death and returned to the lab knowing what was going to happen to him. This was a very sad and simple movie that made my day. Too much color and you lose the meaning. This movie was a perfect blend of simple storylines, script, and acting. Kudos to Gong Yoo and Park Bo Gum who acted so brilliantly in this movie.

Honestly, I've professionally worked with patients with mental health issues too and I disagree with you. I don't think this drama "romanticizes" mental health issues at all. Quite the contrary, it shows that people with mental health issues lack love due to misunderstandings, being mistreated, viewed as an embarrassment, ostracized for being different, and so forth. People treat them as if they're incapable of love when that's quite the opposite. The irony is, a lot of these mental health issues come from a lack of love. I don't want to generalize too much, but this was a beautifully written drama humanizing people with lifelong mental illnesses that will forever be a struggle. This drama shows that everyone deserves to live their own lives whether they're normal or abnormal; they're entitled to their own happiness. Love should never be a reason to hold anyone back or prevent another person from reaching their dreams. Love isn't always about noble idiot sacrifices. It's about understanding and communicating. Even an autistic person still grows and matures every day despite their setbacks just like someone who isn't. "Normal" people learn from those with illnesses and those who are ill learn from normal people. We all aren't any better than the other and someone you never thought would affect you may have a huge impact. It's a healing drama and I wished the world was like this drama. Perhaps if it was, we wouldn't have so many people hurting right now. Love is the key to happiness and I'm so happy to see love displayed in so many ways, so many colors in here. The storyline, cast, dialogue, directing, aesthetics, OST, to everything was enchanting just like a fairy tale. In some way, all of us are still children in this world, living our first lives, chasing our dreams, trying to find our place, following our hearts, pursuing our happiness, falling in love, struggling with reality, yet wake up tomorrow full of hopes again despite the failures. There's no happily ever after, just one day after another, but THAT'S OKAY as long as we hold the hand of the ones we love and walk forward.
