I also think tht tht much humiliation and pettiness was not needed but I can see from where is it coming. Given the flashbacks Lin went into their marriage with positive hopes and he was understanding enough to get Zhao's medical condition and i bet even the pressure on her from her family to enter their marriage. Zhao was anyway hostile (given what she went through in her family, cant blame her), and i think tht indifference and hostility only escalated throughout their marriage of abt 6 yrs; she went into controlling the household the way she wanted, scam the accounts and got her a lover. On the other hand Lin was surely manipulated by his father and in laws which he foresaw and avoided, and not a surprise tht resentment and urge to shake those in laws off him for good is there. Plus upon arrival wht he saw in household wasnt encouraging either, which pushed him further in his resentment.

The reason why he did it the way he did it is, imo, because in such a setting getting a divorce wasnt simple, its a societal business than private business. Even if the couple wanted it in laws will surely be against, plus it wont look good on their family. But here Zhao made it abundantly clear tht she doesn't want to give him a easy divorce. So he calculated and executed it.

Surely he hates her, they both hate each other, but i dont think its just because he couldn't get into her pants, imo its more abt their resentment towards eachother as to wht happened to them cuz of eachother and failure/ not wanting to simply look past their own grievances which made them impossible to reconcile at all. Pretty sad but otherwise could have been powerhouse couple.

Will this have a really miserable ending??? Read the synopsis of manhwa n it reads she will be given a dose of lethal poison once she is discovered so couldn't bring myself to read it either. Can't afford yet another heartbreak while getting ready for the potential sad ending of Red Cuff Sleeve.

I also got that minglan vibes here, not necessarily cuz of the plot since I'm still at the beginning but cuz of how they have executed the vibe surrounding the characters, all of the costumes, accessories, mansions, gardens even streets have such an authenticity which I didn't found in most of the recent historical c dramas and its refreshing. It seems some complain abt it but I think directors have been true to cultural facts in that aspect.

LMAO nooo, it isn't like that, Her marriage with the first guy didn't even last one hour I think since she gets jailed cuz she tried to assassinate the emperor when paying respects. About the third guy, she annuls the engagement with him even before she met him lol. Marriage with her cousin is only a contract type one, later she gets a divorce I think. So far nothing related to 'sleeping'. The second guy is the only one she loves and gonna have a true relationship with.

There r 4 guys and she is involved with them in 4 different ways; relationship-wise I mean. From what I've watched so far( 10 eps lol) the first guy is her ex-husband before she fakes her death in the fire at the prison, the second guy is her childhood sweetheart, the third guy is the one betrothed to her friend( now hers) and the fourth guy is her cousin( her friend's actually) with whom she had to fake a marriage to heal and protect him from a conspiracy.

I completely get you because I also struggle coping with way too smart leads LMAO, having the upper hand in every situation or never getting any guess incorrect, wayyy tooo unrealistic that it makes me cringe, in the same way cliche romances do. Btw if you want some realistic stuff I would like to recommend 'Royal Nirvana', a story of a crown prince who isn't unrealistically superpowered which is the total opposite of this situation.
