I wonder if native English speakers viewed that differently than non-natives - I kept thinking "why are 3 Thais…
The premise is that Khanin grew up in London with his stepfather and didn't know he was of royal blood. So Thai could have conceivably been his first language since his stepfather is Thai, or I guess Emmalian.
As a native English speaker I am able to tell that NuNew didn't have a native sounding English or American accent for that matter. And the only way he probably would have been able to do it is if he went to an international school as a kid. There are a lot of Thai kids who came from rich families and speak unaccented English because of that.
I have a Thai friend who has lived in the US for 20 years and speaks fluent English but has never been able to get rid of that accent. It is very hard to do as an adult.
So no, NuNew did not have a convincing English accent, but it was a very small part of the story and not something I would get all upset about.
On the other hand Charan wasn't supposed to be a native English speaker and his heavy Thai accent was not out of place. I thought Zee did a pretty good job especially since he's struggles with English a lot more than NuNew does.
If you're not a Zeenunew why would you even watch the first episode much less comment here about it? Life is too…
And that would have made sense but you started out saying you don't like the pairing. If you already know you don't like something just move on to something else.
It's not like you made a critical comment about why you didn't like this particular series or this particular episode. So I see the only one around here being toxic is you.
Yeah, I think the pacing was a little too fast.Charan getting the mission, arriving in London, meeting everyone…
Charan didn't have to search for Khanin. The king already knew where Khanin was living, he was the one who picked the man who would act as Khanin's father until he grew up. That's why the king told Charan to pick up his Earl Gray tea in London. 🙂
7.9 is crazy low. y'all just hating cause that episode 1 is solid af
It's up to 8 now, but this episode is the background. Sets the stage for Khanin's return to Emmaly, and why he was brought up a certain way to start with.
It also sets the stage for the inevitable romantic relationship between Khanin and Charan.
I thought it was a great episode but I can see some fans being disappointed that there's no pomp and circumstance in the first episode, or at least very little of it. And of course very little heat between Zee and NuNew since they've just met each other.
I'm pretty sure the rating will go up in time and 8 is pretty solid for episode 1.
I felt so sad for Khanin when he found out that his dad wasn't his real dad. Poor guy his world got shifted off…
In the coming attractions for episode two Khanin says to Charan that he wants to go back and be with his father. That indicates that he survived. In fact we don't even know if he was hurt since we don't see what happened.
In addition Saksit Tangthong, The actor who plays Kanin's stepfather, is listed as a supporting actor in the series. If they killed him off in the first episode he would have been listed as a guest.
I haven't read the novel but I'm optimistic that we're going to be seeing more of him.
I already finished watching it about an hour ago. In the IQIYI version They had some military sounding song at the end of the first episode. I like what they did on YouTube better. On YouTube they played the OST Above sung by NuNew.
I only watched the end of the YouTube version for the coming attractions. On IQIYI they put the subtitles over an ad and I couldn't read them. The subtitles are the only thing I really hate about IQIYI.
I don't drink, but it played at 11:30 am Eastern Daylight Time, so even if I did drink that would be too early for me.
you can watch the first ep on youtube and then the others are gonna be on iqiyi also try looking for coupons or…
I have the yearly IQIYI subscription and I always renew it a little earlier when I get the best deals.
At $70 a year US it's a little less than $6 a month. I think my Netflix subscription is $17.99 a month. I've got a lot of streaming services and I have to say I don't keep account of what each one costs but that's close.

I've had an IQIYI VIP subscription for a long time. I don't know how currency conversion works in foreign countries but the subscription cost is what you would consider really really cheap in the US.

The cut versions of the episodes will drop on YouTube as well but not until the end of the series. Only episode 1 will appear on YouTube for now. Also only the cut version. But if you really have no money for a subscription to IQIYI you can just wait and see it in a few months.
It's taken a long time to produce because of the budget needed. Took them quite a while to get enough investors.

Life is too short. Go watch something else.

You would not even be able to film a single episode of TNP for that amount of money in the US.
