Actually, the only thing Japanese is the drama I'm comparing this this to based on the weibo/istg similarities. 乔晶晶工作室 is the Chinese weibo account that is using the Chinese pseudo-actress, Qiao Jing Jing, as the basis. Yes and no. Basically, the trilogy novels by which Ashes of Love as a drama was sourced does not have a sequel per se. The author has an online novel where they have been recently writing a Book 2 for Ashes of Love, but, as written, it is not a continuation of the Ashes of Love lead characters story, but years later about Run Yu’s story.
As indicated above, Ashes of Love is part of a 3 novel compilation, where each story is basically a standalone story. However, again, that doesn’t preclude the PDs of Ashes of Love, the drama, to hire script writers and create their own Ashes of Love sequel, however, the PDs never indicated they were going to do that. Instead they made dramas of the other 2 standalone novels from the trilogy compilation. Those dramas are this one, ‘Skate Into Love’, & the yet to be released, ‘Love When the Stars Fall’. What is true is that an official from the PD Dept state that they desired to place a fresh face for the lead. It is true she completed the audition and reading stage successful, however, when it came to the actual filming it was off. There are several 'reasons' circulating, including the very rude version of it being about her 'poor acting'. The actress herself stated that she, herself was hesitant about it, but attempted to do her best with every intention of seeing it through. For PDs side, I think it maybe an issue with the Director or, truthfully, she did get in over her head that caused her to have difficulty in the actual conveyance of the character to the screen. Whatever the Director wanted from the character, she wasn't able to fulfill. Their view was that, when it came time to film, she just didn't "FIT" the character they wanted, and this is supposed to be a huge drama, so it needed to be addressed immediately before things went further.
Again, PD had every intention to use a "ROOKIE" actress but it didn't turn out as expected.
In this vein, PD has decided it will only offer the role to an "EXPERIENCED" actress. It is confirmed by Jung So Min herself that she has been offered the role, but her side has only stated, today, that she's favorably/positively reviewing the script. It's not assured she'll take the part.
Rest assured, the PD of a huge TvN drama isn't looking to be stuck without an actress going into filming. They've already released some hyped up dramas, some that have been received more favorably than others. They're obviously well aware of fighting for market share. Their current most popular dramas after 'Vincenzo'; 'Navillera'; & 'Mouse' finished are 'Mine'; 'My Roommate Is a Gumiho'; 'Doom at Your Service'; 'The Devil Judge'; & 'You Are My Spring'. They're currently on a roll and the shareholders of CJ E&M have certain expectations now. Simply giving a look to a fresh new face despite not having an actual good fit on screen isn't one of them. The intentions were there on both the actress & PD's part but they failed for whatever reasons. I believe, since the actress had already been in a NetFlix drama and did well, they had higher expectations for her than she could fill.

I wrote what I did before I've even watched the scene because of these very comments. The idea that I have to accept the premise of a plot or I can't watch it is ludicrous. I suffer from DND syndrome, so it's often the case I finish dramas/movies that I could rate a 1.
It's like these people have never read a Roger or Ebert review and don't understand the concept. A critic can take the overall premise of the plot and say it explores toxic relationship tropes. The critic can also evaluate whether they handled that trope well.
As it stands, for me at episode 2, I'm curious why we're even 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 talking about this 𝐨𝐧𝐞 issue. This person has broken into the home, not once, but twice, which is illegal, as far as I know, and approached a person who was passed out on sleeping pills. The person is stalking someone, invading their privacy, and, the mere fact he held back doesn't discount, he broke in the home and got into another person's personal space without their consent. It starts off with a horribly 𝐭𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐜 situation...and acting like that's normal behavior, it's no wonder that #MeToo exists. Anyone who saw this scene and thought, "... oh look... how cute..." has issues.
He also physically assaults a person he doesn't know over something he misconstrues and lord knows how far he would have taken it if someone else didn't come along and scare him off. Again, randomly assaulting someone in an alley is 𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥, as far as I know. That's even more toxic behavior. So, when you put these initially things together with the issue of 'whether or not it's rape' really begs the question: How could you watch all these 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, and then come away with the idea that anything else he has done isn't just as questionable?
You really have to set your mind aside to believe there's anything appropriate in this guy's behavior, even at episode 2, without the sex.

I'm in the process of getting ready to watch this show and I see the 2 sides of the fence going at it here in the comments section. I haven't watched the scene in question, but I think what stunned me, reading some of the comments below, some which are pretty vehement about it as well, in this day and age, was the idea, anywhere in the world, that '...people get people drunk to have sex with them all the time...and that's not rape...' is really mindblowing.
People still grapple with the idea of consent. I know, in my country, if the person is physically, & mentally unable to give consent, either due to age, or capacity to do so, and you do something to them, it's considered rape. People act as if they've never heard the term "Date Rape" &/or that somehow doesn't apply to guys, because... well.... they're guys. It’s actually quite impressive to be so new, and have 3 of your 5 dramas already released within only 1 year and a half, considering how long it takes for dramas to release.
Anyway, you complained about the kiss scenes, then said he needed to improve so I thought you meant he doesn’t know how to “kiss” act which, if you watched ‘Maiden Holmes’ you’d know very well that’s not true. And as far as that drama is considered, as his first drama, his acting was extremely good. Have to take into account that the actor is quite smart, in that he got scouted at his university where he was majoring in electrical engineering and a member of the Aerospace Agency around 2016. It wasn’t something that he planned on doing until 3 years before. his first drama that ended up being a starring role with an older more experienced actress as his co-star.

The ageism and attractive stereotyping is just sad in this day and age, I'm baffled how prevalent it still is.
By this standard, the K-Drama, American Drama, J-Drama, & Turkish Drama of 'The Good Doctor' should be an utter flop and people disgusted by it. Thankfully, people can look past the '𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞' and accept the concept of someone being intelligent and capable despite their 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐠𝐞.
As indicated above, Ashes of Love is part of a 3 novel compilation, where each story is basically a standalone story. However, again, that doesn’t preclude the PDs of Ashes of Love, the drama, to hire script writers and create their own Ashes of Love sequel, however, the PDs never indicated they were going to do that. Instead they made dramas of the other 2 standalone novels from the trilogy compilation. Those dramas are this one, ‘Skate Into Love’, & the yet to be released, ‘Love When the Stars Fall’. What is true is that an official from the PD Dept state that they desired to place a fresh face for the lead. It is true she completed the audition and reading stage successful, however, when it came to the actual filming it was off. There are several 'reasons' circulating, including the very rude version of it being about her 'poor acting'. The actress herself stated that she, herself was hesitant about it, but attempted to do her best with every intention of seeing it through. For PDs side, I think it maybe an issue with the Director or, truthfully, she did get in over her head that caused her to have difficulty in the actual conveyance of the character to the screen. Whatever the Director wanted from the character, she wasn't able to fulfill. Their view was that, when it came time to film, she just didn't "FIT" the character they wanted, and this is supposed to be a huge drama, so it needed to be addressed immediately before things went further.
Again, PD had every intention to use a "ROOKIE" actress but it didn't turn out as expected.
In this vein, PD has decided it will only offer the role to an "EXPERIENCED" actress. It is confirmed by Jung So Min herself that she has been offered the role, but her side has only stated, today, that she's favorably/positively reviewing the script. It's not assured she'll take the part.
Rest assured, the PD of a huge TvN drama isn't looking to be stuck without an actress going into filming. They've already released some hyped up dramas, some that have been received more favorably than others. They're obviously well aware of fighting for market share. Their current most popular dramas after 'Vincenzo'; 'Navillera'; & 'Mouse' finished are 'Mine'; 'My Roommate Is a Gumiho'; 'Doom at Your Service'; 'The Devil Judge'; & 'You Are My Spring'. They're currently on a roll and the shareholders of CJ E&M have certain expectations now. Simply giving a look to a fresh new face despite not having an actual good fit on screen isn't one of them. The intentions were there on both the actress & PD's part but they failed for whatever reasons. I believe, since the actress had already been in a NetFlix drama and did well, they had higher expectations for her than she could fill.
It's like these people have never read a Roger or Ebert review and don't understand the concept. A critic can take the overall premise of the plot and say it explores toxic relationship tropes. The critic can also evaluate whether they handled that trope well.
As it stands, for me at episode 2, I'm curious why we're even 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 talking about this 𝐨𝐧𝐞 issue. This person has broken into the home, not once, but twice, which is illegal, as far as I know, and approached a person who was passed out on sleeping pills. The person is stalking someone, invading their privacy, and, the mere fact he held back doesn't discount, he broke in the home and got into another person's personal space without their consent. It starts off with a horribly 𝐭𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐜 situation...and acting like that's normal behavior, it's no wonder that #MeToo exists. Anyone who saw this scene and thought, "... oh look... how cute..." has issues.
He also physically assaults a person he doesn't know over something he misconstrues and lord knows how far he would have taken it if someone else didn't come along and scare him off. Again, randomly assaulting someone in an alley is 𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥, as far as I know. That's even more toxic behavior. So, when you put these initially things together with the issue of 'whether or not it's rape' really begs the question: How could you watch all these 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, and then come away with the idea that anything else he has done isn't just as questionable?
You really have to set your mind aside to believe there's anything appropriate in this guy's behavior, even at episode 2, without the sex.

It's a drama created in someone's mind and put on screen as a fantasy. It's not a documentary. Gaslighting is a thing. Date rape is a thing. Trying to excuse it or normalize it is your own issue. Of course, we all know there are rape victims, for reasons all their own, most not good reasons, they don't say a thing, or accept it, or go along with it... but trying to convince me that someone drunk can consent to sex isn't really a positive attitude to take. I haven't watched the scene in question, but I think what stunned me, reading some of the comments below, some which are pretty vehement about it as well, in this day and age, was the idea, anywhere in the world, that '...people get people drunk to have sex with them all the time...and that's not rape...' is really mindblowing.
People still grapple with the idea of consent. I know, in my country, if the person is physically, & mentally unable to give consent, either due to age, or capacity to do so, and you do something to them, it's considered rape. People act as if they've never heard the term "Date Rape" &/or that somehow doesn't apply to guys, because... well.... they're guys. But that still couldn't be further from the truth, since gender has no issue with 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐬 regarding this matter.
Now, I cannot speak to Taiwanese laws, but I'm definitely sure that the EU are similar in scope to the USA on this subject. Also, in the USA, filming someone, no matter what it is about, in certain states, 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬 the person's permission. On yes, people do it anyway, but you can sue them for a whole lot of money for it. So, 𝐲𝐞𝐬, there are laws clear on this..and they're clear for a reason.
Heck, even after all of this, 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 everywhere around the world realize there are dumbfucks who still don't get what 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 means... So, back in 2015, the Thames Valley Police created a video 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 designed to make it 𝐜𝐫𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 clear what consent is exactly.... and, yes, they talk about the "...they were once conscious and gave consent...but then became unconscious, thus, unable to give consent...and yes, you can change your mind in between the time it takes to consent and become unconscious..." so, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐟, and that's a big if, based on what I've read, the person gave consent, if at the point things happened they were passed out or unconscious, they're no longer 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 of giving you their consent... which means, they said, "𝐧𝐨".

Let's be clear, the Chinese representatives are attached to the Chinese National Academy, majority are Chinese nationals, and their purpose and goal is to PROMOTE, via propaganda, CCP Chinese historical view, and influence, period.

China believes that any current talks on this matter are similar to Silla and Tang Dynasty and that China is required to be a part of the talks, US troops must leave the regions, economic agreements including special RIGHTS for future investments in Korea be validated, and Chinese military allowed to be stationed and a part of the stabilization process. These are things that China has been pushing since 2017, and the instituting of Chinese academic nationals in the involvement of upcoming KOREAN dramas used for propaganda purposes are NOT going unnoticed by South Korean citizens. They're not interested in having their history distorted in a way that disavows its own culture so that the CCP can claim cultural dominance over the entire region for their own POLITICAL purposes, attempts at colonization, and imperialism while pretending others are the historical imperialists. That includes revising history to claim the attempts of nuclear expansion in the region is a direct reaction to aggression by the USA, when the USA/Korea have been involved in military maneuvers predate any NK nukes by a decade. In the entire history of the DMZ there has and certainly won't be any aggressive invasive move on the part of the USA or Korea. The ones lobbing bombs over civilians heads are not them. Well, but for a new actor who first started acting in May, 2019, and who already received a new actor award this past January 2021, as well as filming his 5th drama, as a supporting actor in a highly anticipated novel adaptation drama, I think that the Chinese entertainment industry thinks he’s a good actor. It’s actually quite impressive to be so new, and have 3 of your 5 dramas already released within only 1 year and a half, considering how long it takes for dramas to release.
Anyway, you complained about the kiss scenes, then said he needed to improve so I thought you meant he doesn’t know how to “kiss” act which, if you watched ‘Maiden Holmes’ you’d know very well that’s not true. And as far as that drama is considered, as his first drama, his acting was extremely good. Have to take into account that the actor is quite smart, in that he got scouted at his university where he was majoring in electrical engineering and a member of the Aerospace Agency around 2016. It wasn’t something that he planned on doing until 3 years before. his first drama that ended up being a starring role with an older more experienced actress as his co-star.
