Yup, I agree. This drama is such a fresh take on what is considered to be the 'norm' in society. I don't really feel anything was problematic with their relationship in 2015,it would just be a very complex relationship which would fail because of how society perceives it. Their love is pure and they both want the best of each other, a time skip is god's gift in this case.

Ep5 is out on j-raws! It's like my prayers have been answered! I'll wait for aoihachi to release the sub, which will only take a day or two and then watch ep 6! XDDDDDDDDD

Oh, that could be it too. Out of all the dramas featuring student-teacher relationships, this show does it best.

I think part of why I don't feel this drama is problematic is because I sometimes compare it with another Japanese drama, Majo no Jouken, which also explores student-teacher relationship which I felt was pretty problematic.

I haven't watched ep 5 raw yet because I don't think I can watch the episode more than once;;; But I want to watch ep 6 when it will be out but for that I'll have to watch ep 5 urghhhhhhh

As for Kawai, according to me I don't think he loves Hijiri, tbh.
I think the drama itself criticises the student teacher relationship hence the time skip and Hijiri's internal conflict.
