My guess is they are waiting for the green light on the air date to officially promote the drama and want to lay low for now. Since like you mentioned part of the ban was mostly due to crazy fandoms.

Luckily the main leads are low-key. So I doubt any scandal with them, especially CFY whose parents are well-known in the industry and always looks out for him.

But that doesn't change the fact that bl adaptations are banned for now. No matter how much they edit out the bromance, it is still adaptive from a bl novel.
Now they are only waiting for the bans to be lifted. It's not a matter of editing out interactions and whatnot so it can air.
IIRC there was a lot of speculation about why it didn't air in spring 2021, but the major reason for the delay before was the editing as in special effects and not about changing the loveline to BG like how many crazy fans like to jump to the conclusion.
Then later that year is when the NRTA was cracking down on idol/bl adaptive shows.

Wait, so they posted those pictures without approval? So it was like a protest like they want it to air or they were warned not to market until the official announcement 😂🤡

Edit: so it appears they got warned by production. At least they weren't warned by NRTA or weibo deleting it themself. So that's still a good sign. My hunch is if I’m being positive is that they want to lay low for now while things are changing. They don't want to cause a stir with crazy fans or antis and make NRTA change their mind again about BL drama. So they gotta wait until official promotion to hype the drama or don't want any spoiler from set since everyone been waiting long and many have illegally read the script. They want to leave some mystery to how awesome this drama will look.

They bought who rule the world and it was release just a few days it aired in china. Similar to how viki does it with new dramas. Since they want to compete in case other platforms buys it too (Viki and tencent are in partnership) they will probably air it too like that.

They will probably enforce the same rules as they did with palace dramas if they do allow Bl dramas. You know, only one or two per year IIRC. And whoever gets the spot will boil down to connections and money of course. So, I think HYX has a better chance. I mean they did get the license, right before the whole changing of rules?

Sadly, some of these fans have no life and act immaturely. It's also fucked up that the one who gets blamed and warned for any fan war is the actors themselves by NRTA and antis. And it may be just a fake fan leading a war just to cause trouble.

Depends if this is propaganda (they use celebrities too to promote propaganda/nationalism on weibo) and what they are really after is people getting interested in China. You know China has been competing with the U.S. In that sense, then lifting the bl ban would be worth it if it can get international people interested in China and culture despite the anti china propaganda.

Before people made fun of Chinese dramas because of horrible CGI and dubbing, (now you gotta pay for actors voice to get dubbed) but now it's getting better and better. They have their own comics and animation now too.
Cnetizens were becoming more and more interested in korean/Japanese entertainment. You know BL stories originally started and made waves in Japan. And you wonder why China who seems homophobic would allow Bl novels in the market? Exactly because they are competing with Korean/Japan market and want Cnetizens to enjoy C entertainment instead. But there is a caveat to all this. With the bl ban it's like Bl genre fans are teens who are grounded until they learn their lesson and behave. If you know what I mean.

NRTA likes to ban things that bring a major influence on the minds of its citizens. People think that the censorship of Bl dramas is mostly due to homophobia but there's a lot more going on. Like why does the government care so much about pretty boys when flower boys were a thing in the past too and all over the media? My theory is because ccp is building its military power more than ever. They don't want pretty boys influencing men.

Bl dramas are often censored to reach a wider audience and because most bl stories are smut so it's going to be censored anyways. But the ban was most likely due to Bl's drama causing a wide stir and they saw it as influencing the minds of citizens. They rather us believe it's mostly because of homophobia or traditional values whatever and not because of order and control.
But remember the CCP does not want anyone gay or straight like celebrities to be more influential than them. Remember Jack Ma?
And if it were mostly because of homophobia there wouldn't have been a market for Bl novels and such in the first place, but since it brings money as long as they pay taxes lol. But now idk if it's true they really want to compete with drama etc.
If their hidden reason is to influence people around the world to think highly of China again (especially with the covid case) like how the South Korean wave brought interest to people in the world. I could believe that reasoning more than profit.
The Korean wave brought more than profit in the entertainment industry, but it also boosted its tourism/products, and peoples general interest in Korean culture. That was main goal of government that's why the government themselves promoted kpop drama and kimchi world wide. It was even able to penetrate Chinese/Japanese citizens. And we all know the grudges East Asians government and some people have for each other.

But entertainment was one thing that many people commonly share despite political disputes. Western entertainment has always been influential worldwide. I mean Bruce Lee and Jackie chan were one of Chinese pioneers to be famous in Hollywood but China wants their own self-made entertainment to penetrate globally despite people saying they don't need to since they got the market. That's not the big picture. Now they got their own comics and animation even Korea competing with Japanese comics and animation. So I think that if China really wants to compete globally with its entertainment. It's more than profit itself but the big influence it brings.

What if the next bomb dropped will be from leo and arthur themselves. 🫣
