If that’s true and other Asian BL dramas are being shown on legit streaming platforms then that's the kind of hypocrisy I’m talking bout that leads me to believe this ban thing won't last long.
Those dramas paid to get broadcasted in China streaming sites to earn more money (most likely unless it's well known and those sites bought license for it), but every foreign show still needs to get approval as well before it can be shown to Chinese citizens.
So this is a good sign as well that they know BL is profitable and of course, China being nationalistic and all won't like that foreign Bl dramas get more popular than homemade ones. (especially if they license them themselves to get it broadcasted in China)

The only thing I love/hate with Cdrama is how long it is unless its good. Sometimes it just drags and too many fillers lol i think i saw a news that cdrama trying to have more shows with less episodes. Everytime i try to get a kdrama watcher to watch cdrama they always complain and dont want because of how long the episodes are LOL even for a modern drama. I try to tell them its usu historical/fantasy that is super long and modern dramas at most are like 30 but they still gasp LOL. I say at least you dont need to wait for second season cause its all in one go. But alas still hard to convert some.


Tbh BG and BL romance are all the same to me. BL and BG are both mostly targeted towards women anyways LOL
It doesnt matter to me what kind of romance there is in dramas. Unless the love story is as good as like Ashes of love or Princess Agents

If the untamed is still able to be streamed in China platform (not the Chinese platform we can see overseas) then that's a good sign for me.

Not because it was filmed and aired before the ban. That's the thing because that would be giving them special treatment since the ban is to stop “effeminate” men from making fans crazy. All adapted danmei and idol variety shows should’ve gotten banned from airing and being produced.

We can say that talking bout BL is not serious enough to be banned by CCP compared to like talking badly about the government etc. But since the government put this ban it's kinda weird that they didn't imo.
That's the thing, they ban danmei adaptations which are heavily censored but not novels that aren't censored. (correct me if I'm wrong) It doesn't make sense to me. BL novels are just as popular as watching dramas.

TLDR; My point is that this whole ban thing was probably never meant to be permanent from the get-go.
It's just like a parent grounding their child and taking away certain privileges like cell phones /internet until they learned their lessons. It was meant to control and tame obsessed fans. But since there's a lot of capital from the entertainment industry, especially in Asia then it's a big loss. That's why they still allow BL novels?

Also, 58 is a lot of episodes lol. In fact, Chinese dramas tend to drag that's why it's not as popular as kdrama. a few chapters from a book can be done in one episode.

That usu happens especially if the bulk of the the plot is something that needs to get censored. For example, when comics get adapted from an R18 novel (whose plot revolves around the smut) but to reach a wider audience they turn it into PG13. So the plot and pacing are disjointed.

But, you read the novel right?
So ask yourself. Was the novels plot predominantly around romance, or is the romance just an icing on the cake or cherry on top?
If it's the latter then you don't need to worry much if the bulk of plot is not all about the smut scenes.

Try Haruka ayase she has pretty solid dramas. I especially like her stepmom daughter blues drama + specials.

I’m kinda on the fence with this homophobic issue if we look at how BL was popularized in the first place. BL was created to challenge social norms in Japan (by female mangaka lol like what would they know about being gay right? So you often see many stereotypes in these yaoi stories.) but the message sorta got lost with how it's being marketed.

It just seems like one of those kinks like how men like yuri. Because the majority of BL fans are straight women who essentially like BL for the hot guys and fangirling BL fanservice. Which doesn't really promote LGBTQ awareness as something normal especially on screen since we know most of these hot guys are often not gay irl.

Even straight men (most common in VK-visual Kei rock bands) would give fanservice by kissing or hugging/groping each other on stage. I guess it's hot? Like when two hot girls make out? And fangirls won't get jealous since it's their favs getting it on. LOL
But like how women get sexualized, now it's gays being sexualized by straight men and women. I’ve never seen the appeal in this kind of fanservice (although I don't mind a few yaoi comics, especially dramas that are done right), not because I'm homophobic, just felt wrong to me in a disrespectful way. Well, I’m not gay so IDK how gay people feel about this (fanservice) and BL smut stories (probably mixed opinion too) So I can’t say I feel offended for them. Who knows some of this fanservice can be for gays too. Lol

It's like the West but unlike before, now we see more LGBTQ on screen but they are portrayed as normal people in normal relationships and not some kind of fetish for women to simp over hot guys.
You would think by how many fangirls BL genre have there wouldn't be homophobia, yet my brother who visited China with bf sometime ago said people treated them badly.
