True but it's rather short-sighted because if I remember correctly less than 20% pass those exams. The mother is thinking about a quick profit again.

She organized a competition and thought Du Yang Xi was the best in terms of talent and can become the top scholar.…
I did watch it, thank you. But the judge of the poems and literary talent was actually the eldest daughter.

Considering the extreme difficulty of the imperial examinations, there's no guarantee that everyone will pass. It's also tricking the man who thinks his wife will be well educated and matching him in literary interest.

I don't know why the mother wants a scholar for her daughter who doesn't have any literary talents. Rather odd plot device.

She doesn't want a playmate, she wants an object who answers to her without any objections. Someone to own completely…
She's both spoiled and mentally ill. I don't think she even knows the difference between the two. Part of her character development will probably be her learning this.

Also, royalty had absolute power in ancient times. It's no wonder she thinks she can control a person's life and death.

The way the Li daughters behave, I'm not sure about how much refinement was taught😆 Except for eldest sister maybe. Qiongnu wasn't officially wed to her son though so technically she didn't have any responsibilitoward her.

I need to rewatch that scene but I don't think Q managed to escape without any consequences.

I don't remember the part about her father but even if he's learned it doesn't mean he would teach his daughter. In that era women were supposed to be married off only.

She was actually very kind to have Qiongnu join her family and bear all her expenses despite her son's death. Also she didn't throw her out either after her loss of virginity but comforted her instead. The kind of tough love of asian mothers isn't going to be palatable to westerners😅

I don't get it either. Considering they didn't have mobile phones back then so how was she supposed to know.

I'm amused to hear this considering Thai people complain about melodrama in their "lakorn"😂

So this drama will also have a cliff diving event where someone survives?
It's very old. Goes back to Chinese novels from which the dramas are adapted.

Yes, that's usually the case.

The princess is supposed to be about 15 or so. It makes sense that she's childish.
