He might have been a really bad person due to the accusation of animal cruelty, sexual harrassment etc. (in fact I'll say he was!) but you can't deny that he has some excellent films, some of the best even in SK industry - 3 Irons, the Bow, Breath, Pieta etc.
I remember watching the Bow for the first. It was mesmerising. It's one of the first movie that influenced me to admire the arthouse genre.
One of the better BLs of the year. It's still going on strong, albeit slow. I think it could be even better as a 1 hour episode show. The cliffhanger endings are painful every week.
Add Memorials (Aka Into the Ring) as well and it'd be perfect.
Diary of a Prosecutor & Into the Ring are two of the best Kdramas of the year no arguments!
One of my favourite part of Diary of a Prosecutor was how goofy the adults were. A highlight was when Jeon Seong woo's character worships Ahn Eunjin's character after finding out her standing inside an MMORPG world, it was hilarious to watch.
Into the Ring was a full package on the other hand. The Korean version of Amelie through and through. Such good acting from the leads and the editing and direction were top notch. One of the best directed Kdrama I've seen in fact.
And Be Melodramatic is one of the best Kdramas ever. PERIODT!
There is SO many highlights in Be Melodramatic and most of them are such simplistic banters and scenes. A scene I remember is when Chun Woo Hee and Ahn Jae Hong's characters stay in the living room of CWH's house and just discuss the story she's writing without even moving. One sits on the sofa, the other on the floor. It was such a refreshing scene. And I absolutely adored Kim Myungjoon and Lee Joobin's characters in this drama, they've such great scenes.
Welcome to the world of PHR. Watch her older dramas, you'll see how lazy of a writer she is. She inserts cliched,…
Agreed. The time skip also specifically ruined the flow of the show even more. I actually dropped it when that happened (I forced myself to watch the final episodes).
Same. I won't watch the next PHR show until it ends so I can get a scope of how it is through reviews.

Hopefully her next drama will show a sign of change in her writing.
IMO The whole Dalmi-Injae rivalry/sisterhood/damaged relationship was handled VERY badly. We needed more of it, instead of this horrible love triangle. Injae was completely ignored for majority of the show in reality. We were supposed to understand her side, why she abandoned her mother, give her character more depth. And show how her and Dalmi get over their estrangement. How Dalmi and her mother make-up. But smh we got nothing of it.
Exactly, nothing Dalmi did was her own win. She was always given the opportunity, her wanting to show Injae she'll be successful in the end meant nothing. Esp since by the end she spent majority of the time pining and crying over that stupid ML.
Agreed. I expected a story about people starting from scratching and becoming successful. Two sisters mending their damaged sistership etc. But we got nothing of it. It felt like a huge charade.

I agree ICHYV is definitely her best work yet imo as well. It wasn't that bad.
EXACTLY! If you look her dramas, they all have similar trajectory -> They start off strong but keeps going downhill. And the loss of quality in writing becomes blatant near the end.
I think her ego is too high tbh IDK her personally, so this sounds immature of me to say but I feel like she might be the type who blocks off any criticism and writes however she wants.
To me, the LEAST of this drama's problems were the ship. There were so many things that weren't done well.-How…
Welcome to the world of PHR. Watch her older dramas, you'll see how lazy of a writer she is. She inserts cliched, cheesy lines everywhere, has inconsistently developed characters. It's a wonder she took 2 frigging years to write this disappointment. I'll bet a writing graduate student can write a better show in a week.
Oh dw about the MDL rating. They're useless really. This drama's doing incredibly well in SK and topping viewership…
The Guest is the best horror Korean TV drama I've seen. It's superb. There's also Priest, it's a good drama too. The Priest has this mindbending plot twist too which will leave you frigging shocked. I'd recommend you try those out if you don't mind horror.
