When I say that this was perfect. I mean that this was absolutely perfect.

I don't write reviews. It's hard. They're usually long and I'm sure all my thoughts have already been expressed before so I've never really seen a point, but after finishing this I just HAD to get my thoughts written down. The story is great. Mermaid-loving a human, clearly it's been done before but this was done oh so right. No details were overlooked. Everything connected and flowed. I am great when it comes to guessing "who done it" and predicting what will happen next but this drama was not predictable at all. The acting was oh so good. The entire cast had amazing chemistry. ML and FL were so stinking amazing. The character and relationship development are seriously some of the best I've ever seen. I've never seen anything with Jun Ji Hyun but I'm excited to check out her other projects. Her voice in this was like melted butter on pancakes. So gosh darn yummy. The costumes, the environments. every last detail made this such an enjoyable experience, i regret waiting so long to pick this one up. I just finished this and I'm already thinking about when I can rewatch it.

Just a few of my thoughts...

I find it so interesting how drastic the opinions are on this one. People either LOVE it or absolutely hate it. If this starts out slow and you feel like giving up, hold on. It all comes together and its all so great. This story is not predictable at all and i never knew what would happen next but i stayed for the ride. This isn't much of a review and just mire of my thoughts on this drama. This is my first C drama so i wasn't really sure what to expect but I loved it. I loved it, even though I skipped so much of it. The flashbacks for me entirely too long and mostly not needed. The acting was done so well that without me having to watch all the boring flashbacks, i was still able to understand the importance and impact their past friendships had on their current selves. I thought the idea of following your dreams and the passage of time were conveys so well. This idea of growing up. This was all done so greatly. The interaction between the K&K boys was olaying cute and fun. The felt the passion these kids had for this sport. Gun God was such a great mentor, The OTS sooo sooo good. The romance on the other hand started out a hot mess. Little squid was soooo stinking cute. I actually thought i would hate her because she was soo cute but it worked so well. FL legit simped the entire drama, but for some reason I was okay with it. Gun God fine as fuck y'all haha so that's probably why i was okay with it. But when he finally committed, it was beautiful. His strong sense of nationality was also really sweet. I loved listening to him speak. ML and FL chemistry was off the charts. This was looong but so worth it. The parts that i enjoyed, i enjoyed immensely.

That escalated quickly.

This started to sickening sweet, I should have known something was up. I started watching this and absolutely loved everything about it. When it was revieled that Jun was a highschooler I had to put this drama on hold for a bit because it just felt cringy. But low and behold I was craving some sweetness so I picked it back up again. I found myself reading the episode synopsis to remember where I had left off and read some spoilers I really shouldn't have and just ended up skipping around epsiodes. So I ended up starting back up at episode 15 and literally felt like I had been punched in the gut and then Jun was dead. And that really hurt because I always need a HEA. I mean, real life sucks. I need my fictional worlds to make it all better!! So the last few minutes of the final episode really threw me for a loop. And it was so random and abrupt that I didn't believe it. Why? Like... seriously...why. it felt like they set out to hurt me. Once I got over the initial shock I just felt let down. If you're gonna bring a man back from the dead give me more closure damnit! I wanted to see more of how their relationship progressed after 5 years. I will say minus that huge slap in the face. Everything worked so well here. Loved how the story and background interweaved.

I actually went back and rewatched this from beginning to end and knowing how it ends somehow allowed me to bask in their love even more.

It was okay.

This review is a little all over the place so bare with me. I'm fairly new to this genre and will say this is the first drama I've had such disappointment with. There are many great things about this drama but also many annoying things. I felt that half way through, the main couples storyline just went off the rails. It just didn't work for me. Lemme first just say that Ji Ho is so stinking cute that Everytime she was on screen It made me smile. At the start I truly enjoyed Se Hee's and Ji Ho's story but towards the end the needless complication really annoyed me, especially since they had such great communication throughout the story. Their awkwardness was cute and absolutely adored their interaction in the final episode. Soo Ji's and Ho rang's, literally carried this drama on their backs. Loved everything about them. Ho Rang's really annoyed me and I didn't feel like she deserved Won Seok. I was glad to see she sorta matured by the end of it (Won Seol was super adorable with his little short self.) But would have felt this was more realistic if their story didn't end the way it did.At certain points conversation just seemed to drag and I just wanted to get through it so that was a bit of a disappointment. The soundtrack is too notch. Yeon Bok-nam was so beautiful it hurt to look at him. Ji Ho's mom was a mother freaking boss. Loved loved her. I truly enjoyed the sisterhood these three women had with each other. All in all it was okay. No way I would rewatch but I am Interested in checking out other projects these actors participated in.
