Dou 5th Uncle was not that of a bad guy at all in the novel, and has no major involvement in the second half of the story. The drama changed him to a big baddie in both parts of the story.

Crown prince doesn't have that much action and scene in the novel.

Defense always has the advantage as long as one can hold it, and they set it up at that narrow entrance. And, the aggressor clearly has number advantage, so there's no reason to go out and clash with them face to face. FL and her people only needed to hold out long enough for her people in the adjacent courtyard to come over as reinforcement, as they already signaled them ahead of time.

New character. Haven't appeared until now.

Personally, I like reading those kind of daily life interactions spread out through the story, like Blossom and The Story of Minglan. So, I enjoyed reading the Blossom novel as well.

I got chills at the Su Xin's scene. Brief but such a powerful shot.

I sort of had a hunch that they were trying to wrap up Dou Ming's story based on how many Dou Ming scenes were in Ep 20 and 21. But, Ep 23 totally came out of the left field.

Ok, I freaking love drama's Dou Ming story. That's the best change they made so far from the novel. My heart sank at the scene where Dou Ming was inching toward WTY but that bastard went back to drinking...

Novel's Dou Ming was just yet another bitter soul who kept on hating Dou Zhao and wasting her life away playing cat and mouse with her husband's mistresses. Despite the early death, drama version made her such a memorable character. Loved it!!! ❤️

That is technically not incorrect. Blossom deploys a lot of commonly seen tropes. and shares similarities with multiple other dramas. However, its charms like in the characters, script, cinematography, production quality, etc. The Blossom team really put their heart into it, and it shows.

Novel was happy ending. Drama most likely the same.

Dou 5th Uncle set up a trap for Minister Wu. When Wu Shan admitted the bloody cloth was his to save Dou Zhao, he was guilty of breaking into inner court (ladies quarter) of their household and seduce Dou Zhao who at that time was an engaged lady.

That is basically a ploy to put Wu Shan into prison. Once in prison, they can fabricate any lies to charge Wu Shan. That forced Minister Wu hand to save his grandson and step down from his position, which was Dou 5th Uncle's goal all along.

She's just being strategic. She actually got everything thought out in all her actions, and her being submissive to her 5th Uncle and stepmom was just part of her plan.

She didn't need anyone's support to break off her engagement with WTY. She even got mad at Ji Yong and prevented Song Mo from meddling with her affair, as they are actually interfering with her plan.

Even if the switcheroo thing didn't happen, she already had a plan to escape. It was mentioned in ep16.

Dou Zhao had shown such a strong personality throughout the story. Why would she become indecisive at this crucial point which she had been planning for more than a decade.

Give it a couple more episodes and it'll be revealed eventually. Just know that she really really wants to break off the engagement with WTY.

Don't worry. Dou Zhao always takes the win in the end. She's very patient and smart.

WTY is Marquis. ML is Duke's heir. Duke household is higher rank than Marquis household.

There are a lot of other areas (like authority, wealth, connections, etc.) where ML straight out beat WTY, but basically, ML is miles above WTY.

I'm talking 'for' the drama though, just in case you misunderstood my above comment. xD

Well, the drama just entered the second half of the story, with none of the major plots dealt with yet...
