saw these on Twitter/X: "the novel plot is not that good cuz he left to yihe cuz he gets angry on yifan becoz…
Yup, that's exactly what happened in the novel. Sang Yan basically didn't learn any of Yifan's past like he did in the drama, until Yifan opens up her past to him.
They changed the main plot—a mistake, a colossal mistake. There was a reason the book was a success. That's…
I consume both forms of medium, novels and dramas. In my opinion, it's unrealistic to expect an adaptation will be 1:1 of the source material. So, as long as the narrative of the adaptation is logical within itself and doesn't lose the original flavor of the source material, some amount of artistic license is acceptable for me.
Of course, that's for me. I don't expect others to share the same view as well.
For TFF, I love both the novel and drama for what they are. I might find a tiny bit sad at some moments where some scenes from the source material didn't make it to the screen. But, that doesn't diminish my enjoyment of the drama as long as it's doing well, and at the same time look forward to any drama original additions to surprise me as well.
Generally speaking, sometimes, some changes dramas made makes them even better than the source materials at instances.
I just finished ep 24 and have not seen ep 25 yet. I am not as mad as I thought I would be. I feel the director…
My thoughts exactly as well. I never expected a 1:1 representation of the source material to begin with.
I can understand why the drama did what it did. It didn't break Yifan character for me, so that's all that matters. And the drama perfectly delivered one of the most important plots of this story today as well. Kudos to ZRN really.
Did I dislike how they changed Ep24 from the novel? May be a tiny bit, but doesn't matter that much.
Did it change my overall opinion on this drama? No. It's still as much enjoyable as before.
All that mattered was ZRN slayed in Ep25! That was how I imagined while reading that scene in the novel, and she brought it to life perfectly. All those emotions in her eyes!
And, we are getting back on track tomorrow. Sooo looking forward to ep26 and 27!
y’all I’m slightly confused, is that her actual aunt (like her moms sister the one with the extremely short…
Her father's brother's wife (the short hair lady). Her father's brother is the one that sneakily gave her sausage and cup noodle in one of the flash back.
That creep of an uncle was her Aunt's (short hair lady's) brother. So, Yifan is not blood related to that uncle.
I’m not sure what exactly you expect her to do to protect herself from that creep. Carry a weapon in her bag…
Yeah. Many of the things we are discussing right now are properly visited or explained in the subsequent chapters in the novel. But, the script writers made some changes around this arc, so novel readers also don't know exactly how far they would go to turn up the angst.
For instance, Mu Chengyun actually suggested Yifan to let Sang Yan pick her up after the intervention scene shown in ep23. That was cut off in the drama.
Hopefully they stay somewhat true to the series of event at the least so that it doesn't hurt the characterization of Yifan, like the one we are discussing here.
Am I the only one who thinks this is really starting out slow? Im trying to have patience but right now all I…
Generally speaking, it won't change that much. This is how this story was being told, and the most suitable way as well in my opinion.
I'm not sure which episode you are at right now. But try to get past the few early episodes, and when things start developing between the leads after they became roommates, it might become less slow for you.
what happens to the uncle, aunt and yifen's mother as per in the novel? Will wen yifen teach them all a lesson?
Basically yes. Wen Yi Fan called her right after the Uncle attempted to SA her. Mom basically shrugged it off like "Your Aunt said it was a misunderstanding. Could it be that you are overthinking?", and didn't do anything to protect Yifan.
i don't think she has finally said her last goodbye to her mum
I'm not sure you have read the novel or not. But here it goes. STOP HERE if you don't want spoiler. . . . . . . . Her mother freaking knew about the SA as it happens. Yifan called her right after the incident and her mother brushed it off like it's nothing and did nothing to protect Yifan. She deserves all the hate and resentment from Yifan.
It's from her past while Yifan was living with her Aunt.
Her Uncle (aunt's brother) had been eyeing for her for a long time, so she was very wary of him constantly while home. Hence, she always stays out during the day.
Her Aunt and Aunt's husband sell food at night, and usually by home by 3 am. So, she always stays awake until 3 am and only sleeps after her Aunt couple come back home, to guard herself from the Uncle.
During the night of the attempted SA by the Uncle, she was saved at the nick of time just because it was 3 am and her Aunts are back home.
That habit carries over to her sleep walking because it's one of her stressors.

Gaming mentor thing is drama only addition. Doesn't include in the novel.

Blame Youku for hating Thursday. lol

Based on previous episodes, I'm already convinced with both leads' delivery of the scene.
