This is how the writers have portrayed the characters in the show. I'm not talking about that. I'm not asking why the show Xia Jingshi and Feng Xiyang are reacting the way they do.
I'm describing the authenticity of the characters.
I think you didn't understand my post.
I meant that there are better ways to show the downfall of flawed characters, without demeaning their original traits.
The show's Xia Jingshi is even worse. His handling of the situation was horrible. He's supposed to be a prince of a Kingdom, a master strategist, a very intelligent and conniving person who knows how many cards he has and when to use them. He's supposed to be the mature one.
He knew how the Princess was. He could've handled it better.
After a very young woman has sacrificed everything and burned all her bridges, left stranded in an enemy nation, which she chose to be in because of 'You' (Xia Jingshi) , and I agree she made a mistake. She still didn't deserve the way he broke her.
Xia Jingshi knew very well how easily Feng Xiyang would be manipulated by his evil brother. He knew how easily the princess could be turned into a deadly pawn. But he didn't do anything to eliminate that option.
Before he divorced Xiyang, Xia Jingshi didn't know that her father and brother were dead. So, how could a brilliant strategist and a sharp politician simply dissolve peace treaties like that?
These are plot holes and a reflection of poor writing. I have more, but then these things are for after the show finishes airing .
Episode 29 - That one brief scene between Xia Jingshi and Feng Xiyang was closer to their canon (book/original) characters than the entirety of their other scenes.
That is what Xia Jingshi offered to Feng Xiyang even though he couldn't love her - safety, care and loyalty. He never slapped her or divorced her or even hinted at it. Instead, he promised her that she would be his only wife throughout their lifetime. And then (Major Spoiler) happens to them.
Even if the show wants to generate hate against these characters and separate them from each other, please do it with dignity and grace. ππ
The way this show is turning out to be, please don't let Feng Xiyang covet Xia Jingshi's blood or him killing her in the end, because of whatever weird reasons you have cooked up.
It is called 'character assassination', please writers ππ
His character is decent in the original source, I gather. Cdramas usually darken the SML to make the ML more virtuous,…
If you read the book, you'd do a double take. It will give you whiplash just to process how far off her character is in the show than the actual book.
My question to the writers of this show is, 'Is it so hard to write your own version, without destroying the canon (original) personality of a character??
So unfair to the original Princess Feng Xiyang & Xia Jingshi. It was never like this. π€¦π»ββοΈ
They were together, at least until one was taken away by fate. Writers, you couldn't have preserved their dignity, right? You had to rewrite them as warped zombie version of their canon- selves, why??? π£π£
And since when has FSG become a fool in love??? If you had read the 'canon' FSG (in the original novel) , you…
Seriously! And there are such acerbic comments about the princess. Wow! I mean the poor girl led such a sheltered life with no knowledge about the hardcore political manipulations, the traps, lies and web of conspiracies. She is a naive person who fell in love with her saviour (not very intelligent, I agree) but if you were in her position, even if you were super intelligent etc. but not a 21st century woman, who has access to almost everything, what would you have done????
Maybe you wouldn't have begged Xia Jingshi, maybe you would have kept your head down and suffered in silence or maybe you would have returned to Su Sha, but only if the writers had given your character that kind of dignity. But in this show, the writers wrote the Princess's character so horribly (that's not how she is in the book) and stripped her off her dignity. So, can you please be a little more considerate, πππ
The way the story in the show was written , all the main characters need therapy. All of them are walking the…

As for romance, a human being is allowed some peaceful moments, especially with the way things turned out for him. π€·π»ββοΈ

Major Spoilers For the Novel.... There's a lot of tragedy, heartbreak and pain, at least for XJS & FYX ππ But for Suige & Yixiao, its a happy one π
Maybe that's why my heart aches for a happy ending for XJS & FYX π₯²π₯²

Read chapter 109. It will break your heart. They butchered Xia Jingshi's character alongwith the Princess's. She's very young and has been spoilt but it was never that kind of a relationship between them. He never lifted a finger against her, even though he did other evil deeds. And when you read these two characters endings, you'd be gutted. Then you'd understand my frustration at the Drama Version π

If the Princess character was written originally like that then you couldn't help because it's considered canon. But the writers warped her image. She's a Princess, for God's sake, why would she humiliate herself like that??? Doesn't even make sense π€·π»ββοΈ
Can anyone translate the Mandarin bits of this photo??
