There’s more nuance in this show than the audience is giving it credit for…
The PM (SML) couldn’t pursue FL before because his career aspirations wouldn’t allow for that union… politicians go for nobles, not commoners, and definitely not one with “illegitimate child” branding. I think he was waiting patiently to serve his term, then become a background “kingmaker” (not literal, in this case a political power juggernaut), at which point being with her would be another power play, combining his influence with funds and commercial relevance, therefore also keeping him influential. Till then, he remains the oppa bestie she can rely on, thereby he has his cake and eats it. The emotional crisis of her being with a formidable match versus her trophies was the first time he had to consider sacrificing his own aspirations for romance.
The directors did a fantastic job a few episodes ago when they showed FL’s perspective of encounters with her father, after showing his POV. She continued to seek affection and validation, but in the most demanding way possible, and didn’t have the maturity to understand her father was struggling with the consequences of his mistake… since she did not appear pitiful because she offsets her insecurity with bravado, he was able to mitigate some of his guilt towards her and focus his energies on the son who unexpectedly lost his mother and sole heir status due to his father’s foolishness. Honestly it’s rough to watch their relationship when you really consider both perspectives and how they may have misunderstood each other over the years.
Queen Mother coming from a family that breeds queens… clearly it’s a matriarchal setup and too much power has gotten to her head, which allows for sloppiness. Because ML hasn’t utilized his power as regent doesn’t mean he won’t… why provoke what you aren’t ready to face? She’s too comfortable, clearly hasn’t dealt with real adversity before. Silly girl.
The rest of the story lines are cute, and all of it is enjoyable 😁
Now I regret not watching this years ago while it was airing, it’s fabulous. Also would have been better in small doses, episodes are too long to binge
I have already watched love game in eastern fantasy and ski into love. can anyone please tell if yu shuxin has…
On Ep2 and struggling with the FL's immaturity. Seems like the actress is typecasted into these types of characters because every time I've watched a series with her, i spend half the time 🙄🙄🙄
STOP THIS ABSOLUTE NONSENSE QI MIN IS NOTHING BUT A TOTAL SCUMBAG. DARK ROMANCE WEIRDOS
Yeaaa.... online life won't help with whatever is bothering you. Maybe you should disconnect for a while and redirect that energy outside of comment section fights. You aren't changing real -life misogyny with these posts.
STOP THIS ABSOLUTE NONSENSE QI MIN IS NOTHING BUT A TOTAL SCUMBAG. DARK ROMANCE WEIRDOS
You brought up "dark romance" all by yourself, which means you acknowledge toxic relationships as a type of romance, so really what's your point?
That it shouldn't be? Well dear, neither you or I control that. You can play moral police all you want but won't stop the fact that Stockholm syndrome (not a cliche but an actually deeply impactful condition) exists and there are several survivors living with it.

If you're going to stand on a soap box about calling out misogyny, at the very least know what it means. Would you use that same phrase if it was the woman who held the man hostage because of obsessive/possessive feelings? Or a same gender situation? Subverting anyone's free will for selfish emotion is an issue, regardless of gender. The battles women fight because of gender inequality are many and serious, we don't need people who don't understand nuance to step in with a mic, like they're knowledgeable enough to speak for everyone. This is especially annoying because I live in the states under Trump and Maga tyranny and your behavior here is very similar.

And in which sentence did i express that I think it is OK? Again, you're bringing your own baggage to the comment, reading what isn't there and responding without fact checking yourself. I know this is online life, but do better dear.

What absolute nonsense did I start? Stockholm syndrome exists unfortunately, I didn't define it or create it. It's the complexity of human minds and emotions at work. I stated facts, and didn't even share my opinion about the relationship. Just that I'm impressed PoJ represented some of that.
If the discourse is beyond you, don't waste your time responding, just scroll past, it means you aren't the audience. Responding in Caps to a point that wasn't even in the original post makes no sense. I didn't conclude if anyone is or isn't a scumbag. I didn't encourage or speak against the toxic relationship. You are arguing with your own assumptions dear... you can do that without engaging with me or my comment. Whatever baggage you bring to reading my comment is yours alone.
And to anyone who read this that does enjoy fictional dark romances, ignore the "weirdo" name-calling from @kbeauty's overreaction. I may not be a fan of that sub-genre, but I strongly believe in "to each their own" and don't agree with attacking people because I don't share their entertainment preferences. Stay safe & healthy 😌
So much dialogue about whether to romanticize a toxic situation or not, but honestly, they depicted a harsh reality… Sometimes victims catch feelings for their villains, even when they mentally know better and actively try to run from the situation. The moment an effort was made to see past the cruelty to the cause… they’re starting to see a person, not just a monster. And there lies the tangled web of human emotion, where love and hate can be different sides of the same coin.
PoJ really is a romance feast - depicting so many emotions associated with love - crushing, yearning, obsessing, then there’s unrequited, and reciprocated ( intentionally or reluctantly)… I can’t think of a single show that has fit in all these subgroups of the romance genre and still told an interesting story.. I’m days past finishing it and still enthralled. A rare joy.

I’m still traumatized by the last drama I watched with this FL…
Like I said, if the discourse is beyond you, scroll on by…
Choose peace ✌🏾

Outside storyland, this is an extreme trauma response- the mind can fill gaps to make reality more bearable.
