i think less homophobic more worried about her son? i think she's been really really supportive of Q and tried her best to convey that to him too. but yeah i agree with all ur comments above lmao Q was crazy thinking X had a crush on his uncle

Short and cute, no unnecessary drama or angst. A perfect example that a series doesn't need an antagonist to make it good. It wasn't perfect, and MC is often unable to think before acting, but I love MC's family, they are so understand and loving, really should be an example to all others

A shorter series from the often depicted school environment. I was particularly interested in the two main actors,…
Uncle Man is such a great character, he knows and has been thru life as someone who likes his own sex, and convinces Q's mum to not restrain her son too much. And he also gives dating advice to Q, i especially liked when he admonished Q for throwing that temper tantrum cuz boy he really did go a bit overboard with being delulu

now that i think abt it, Q is actually a jerk for trying to win Mook over cuz of a bet he made with X, like imagine what would happen if Mook actually fell for him ..

Shinwoo is like a prickly hedgehog, he's rude and mean at first, but once u get to know him, he's the softest and cutest and most considerate person ever, i like him a lot

I love how every character is complex, and has their own issues to deal with. Da-on is destined to hurt Tae-Kyung, cuz his people-pleasing tendencies mean he will never be able to put TK first. But I don't dislike him for that, i just hope that he can learn to put himself first, and that he does not need to satisfy everyone's wishes.

Even So-Hee, i didn't dislike her initially, as I've always thought her to be the only one capable of protecting Da-on from being exploited, albeit she did so in a really rude and possessive way. She was very wrong for what she did in the name of 'love', and i hope she feels guilty and realises what she lost as a result of her mistake. But in the end, she is the one who loves Da-on the most, and she made a conscious effort to change for the better.

mpv is Namgung, he's literally the friend that everyone needs

I know this comment is quite passionately negative but obviously don’t let my opinion stop you trying the series…
I agree about the frustration bit 🤣

Personally i look at the reviews but take them with a pinch of salt, i love scrolling thru comments for a general idea of what i'll be watching. Usually i ignore purely emotional comments, and look for the critical ones which are often the deciding factor for me - in this case I guess i'm gonna try it out for ShinWoo? I don't like love triangles, but the comments got me curious to why he's that amazing haha

I wish more people could uncover this gem, this really blew my mind, it was better than anything i could ever have imagined. I usually hate series with sad/bad endings, but this was exceptionally done, I was heartbroken yet happy for them - i will miss them loads

Pretty cute series, short and bite-size most importantly, cuz if it's any longer than this i would definitely have gotten bored. Bromance was cute too, whole lot of mosunderstanding and MC is super hot-headed lmao. MPV is Tao Tao, she a badass queen

Is it perfect? Nope, definitely not. There were plotholes, a major one being how they never actually explained why ML could sleep whenever MC's around. BUT it's cute, and a nice bite-size series to watch when you have time.

Do be careful cuz this cpl has 0 communication :) up until the penultimate episode it seems, but it's not too angsty cuz they can't really drag out angst in 8 mini episodes. The last episode made up for all the sugary sweetness that was missing, and i loved it

Overall I love both series and novel equally, cuz to me they're like 2 different but similar stories. I love the bromance in Spirealm, where RNZ is depicted as a much cooler character in the series than his novel self, tho he does have scenes where he acts cutesy to LJS hehe.

Also thank you for writing this article!!

I think some things that were left out in the novel v series:
1. In the novel, players entered the game because they were dying / close to dying - e.g. LQS entered because he had liver cancer (or some other sort of cancer)
2. In the novel, players' appearance in the doors are different than their actual appearances in reality - e.g. RNZ can cross-dress in reality, and become basically a girl (but with a third leg) in the doors, so people often think he's actually a girl
3. I don't remember the organisation names actually being explicitly said in the novel, at least if it was, it wasn't often brought up - so 'Black Obsidian' and 'White Deer' etc. are a pretty nice touch by the series directors
4. LDY in novel is DEFINITELY not as loveable and friendly as him in the series. Like not at all close. Also he never entered a door with LQS.
5. There were also lots of characters in the novel that come and go, while the series like to reuse the characters, probably to cut on cost. But I think it's a nice touch, cuz deeper relationships are developed - e.g. XXC (the actress) had a much deeper relationship with LJS in the series
6. Series LJS is much smarter than his novel self - i've noticed times where series LJS figures out clues by himself, but novel LQS relies on RNZ a lot more: examples would be where in the seires both RNZ and LJS point out the lack of rubbish in the 'egg' door while only RNZ did so in the novel; in the same door, LJS in series noticed RNZ's trick of putting powder in the sisters' hair while his novel self couldn't

wait wait ur disappointed with the bromance? Cuz i was gonna watch it solely because it had bromance
Ok phew, then its going back on my list haha. I do agree its sad that China keeps censlring BL, but i do admit that i lobe watching these quasi-Bls. They give off a whole other level of vibes
