Yes, I think the greatest pity for Xiao Ran is that she became an actress in her late twenties and then spent two years of that without work so she hasn’t been given as many opportunities to hone her skills as other 90🌸. She does the best that she can though. Hua Mei feels 100% different from any of her other roles, so I hope she can show her growth with this show.

Yes, I would say out of the 90s cohort of xiaohua, they’re definitely the two biggest contenders in my mind in terms of expressiveness, lines, and the ability to empathise. They are also the two I think show the most promise in being able to transform from idol dramas into more demanding and mature roles as time goes on.

She’s very promising. Most of her best acting has been in the mainstream dramas but most foreign fans only have access to the idol ones.
