I am not rushing Xiaoran but I hope she gets a casting news soon. With a good script and quality production. š…
Me too! Her latest photoshoots have been soooo pretty Sheās definitely in the perfect state to be in the group. She seems to be recovering from what looks like Covid now but hopefully there will be drama news soonš. From her last interview it seems she has scripts but hasnāt found a role that she likes yet. Not going to lie tho. I really wish the rumors of Sifang Pavilion with Zheng Yecheng were true. It would have been such a good combo and we would have seen PXR as an antagonist.
Have you seen this post https://weibo.com/6421576372/MmsDZageN?Someone put a lot of effort into this. Too bad…
I saw that and was reading what I could of it. Itās pretty impressive and does help diagram the process of Bai Luās feelings towards YXM really well.Thereās also been some other really good in-depth analyses done by some other fans too. I could be wrong but I think the fact that the Korean version hasnāt aired yet is worth hoping for. With the reputation the show has gathered, it makes most sense to air it right now. The Thai version has already started airing and so has Viki but thereās no word on the Korean broadcast plus Korea has gotten different versions from China in the past. I think the unedited version would definitely be better quality because of the BTS. The biggest evidence of this is YWYās death BTS. Itās just a different level than than the aired one. And for me, even if the original versions isnāt amazing , itās the full story intended to be told, and after all the hard work of the crew, I feel thatās the version they should be judged on. Fans are researching the scene/plot points list and others have started finding bits of the script and itās revealing the bones of a much more coherent story. Apparently some of Yi Wu You last words to Yezi were āI canāt stop you, and you canāt stop me.ā This line is so interesting and such a good reference to a story about fate in where none of the key characters believe in it. Emperor Ming also apparently says during their confrontation with YWY āBai Lu will only let me die in her hands. This is between me and her. It is true that I am the target of her revenge, but I am also the man she loves." These lines are also more layered than what the showās cut aired. Rewatching the show, I can see the quality of it even more even with all the cuts, so if I like it in this state, Iāll probably like it seeing it whole. Plus, I want to see the full story of Yezi tbh because I watched this show for PXR, and so I really want to see her performance as she intended it rather than the patchwork it became. Iām not sure if weāll get more but I saw one of the producers reply to a post today. Iāve also seen some posts that @ the producer begging for the full episodes.
Itās really a shame that neither Youku nor any of the other platforms subtitled this show. It was good quality. Some people donāt like tribute dramas but this show seemed more like an idol drama at times but better quality. It was full of beautiful shots, good acting, great costuming, good chemistry, and an easy to follow story.
Itās been like a week and Iām still in the SJFY pit. Are there any other sufferers? Canāt believe I finally…
Also, once you know Yezi knows AāRui is dead from the beginning, is seeking revenge and using the cutesy character of Bai Lu to do so, and that YXM knows that sheās out for his blood so much of the show starts to snap into place even with the cuts. This also has to be watched on a bigger screen. Rewatching on TV, and there were so many details I missed the first time due to a smaller phone screen.
Itās been like a week and Iām still in the SJFY pit. Are there any other sufferers? Canāt believe I finally climbed out of the äø宫 pit this year only to fall into the SJFY pit. š Still hoping the Korean version is the original version. The plots and scenes the Chinese fans say are missing/deleted sound so amazing. And even if itās still a mess, at least weād get the after marriage arc.
Saw Xiaoran uploaded a pic of Hongmei holding up her ID. Apparently she looks like she is around 25/26 in the story. Glad to see PXR playing older characters again.
It may have been censored because of the time travel or was it girl love? From comments, I think she found out…
No the time travel is still in the show. Time travel is mostly banned for real history because of ādistortingā history. I donāt think itās the LGBT+ content either because YeRui is pretty mild and ambiguous compared to Couple of Mirrors which aired earlier in the year. The revenge plot cuts may have to do with a rumored regulation that says couples should be harmonious.
That was the original explanation and it probably is the most likely but tbh, Iām not so sure anymore if it was heavily censored after seeing some of the dramas that have recently aired so much as it was definitely heavily edited in order to pass the review if that makes sense. This drama is basically only the heavily edited middle part of the drama from what I can gather. Thatās why nothing really makes sense. Also, the revenge plot line of the FML has been cut, gutting the soul of the story. As a result, the triangle is barely there. Yeziās storyline had to be cut and rearranged with redubbing to fit the edits. PXRās fans have been doing a lot of work to clarify because of passerby opinion PXR didnāt act well in this drama but not only does her dub (she did not dub herself) not match the actions she originally acted but the editors cut seemed to have cut her highlights out as well. Just watch the uncut version of YWYās ending and it would make most people say āwtf, why didnāt they use that?ā Poor Yi Wuyou has been cut out almost entirely. YXM has had cuts too but it seems to be less than the other two and his highlights have been kept. As a sort of apology for the state of the drama, the show was airing cut tidbits on Douyin but then they posted that there were issues broadcasting them. They started posting again fortunately but it has since stopped too. One of the producers was also rumored to have posted a message to the audience that there will be ācompensationā once the show finishes broadcasting but the post is now hidden and canāt be verified .
the fact that Yezi had to rely on A'Rui to survive in Yebei tells already how much he did for her as her father.…
Even he admits heās a poor father so I donāt know why theyāre scolding Yezi just because he looked sad when she got married. Like you said, he has clout. Why not send her away to a place where she can flourish? Tbh he probably looked that way because he wanted her to marry YWY. There seemed to be some link between him and YWY from the start of the story.
Hi! Thank you for the amazing in-depth review and insight!!! I didn't realize the drama was cut down so much until…
Hi, Itās no problem. I wanted to write this because the show is getting trashed but a lot of the reasons for its issues are really out of its hands. I didnāt think it was fair for a show and actors that obviously do have quality to be ethered without context. As for what was cut, Yezi originally had a revenge plot. More on it can be found in the character analysis posted in the topic discussions but cutting that plot basically gutted her character, killed most of the Yi Wuyou scenes, and took a good chunk of the show out. They also cut the beginning arc of the show with life in Yebei and Yezi and AāRui in Tianqi and the cut the last arc which dealt with the main pairings life after marriage. Some of the side characters also had their roles reduced as well. As for why the cuts happened, originally it was thought that they were a result of the authorās scandal. They were banned and usually when that happens, anything associated with their work that isnāt already out gets buried. The show cut ties and said they had a mostly original script so in the beginning it was assumed the authorās part were cut. There were also assumptions that the showās content went under a much more strict review than usual due to the author. For example couples are supposedly supposed to be harmonious in dramas now so fans assumed her revenge plot was cut because of that. Grey villains are also discouraged so some assumed the scenes where viewers can empathise have been cut. Platforms also cut things and many of the cut kiss scenes are thought to be Youkuās work since theyāve been known to cut kiss scenes. My own theory for why the show doesnāt work as it should is that the later set of editors tried to cut it into a basic hero saves the damsel story but the script which apparently took years to write had too tightly interwoven the three characters for a major cut to be made without it having a huge knock on effect. I also think Yezi/Bai Lu was the focal point and the story weaves around her. She has her own growth arc but both YXM and YWYās arcs rely on hers to be realised properly. Reducing her character so much essentially killed the soul of the story. We just have to be glad editors were smart enough to keep enough YXM to carry what was left.
I am still here wanting to speak to Youku management lol I hope they release an uncut version lol
Not going to lie, Iām probably gonna die mad at Youku but at least it wonāt be aloneš. Apparently thereās a lot of people who canāt get over this show. Every time its Weibo blog posts it gets flooded with āshow us the tidbitsā comments.
I swear I saw Februaryā23 as the date for its airing schedule but I feel like I dare not hope. I donāt even care if this drama is good or not anymore, Iām really just here for the visuals of Peng Xiao Ran and Han Dongjun.
I think only episode 1 had subtitles as far as Iāve ever seen. This drama was region locked and tribute dramas arenāt very popular so thatās probably why thereās no subs. I had to actually stream from Chinese stations to follow it in real-time. I only watched it for PXR so just the first part but itās really good. This director is very good at shooting and the acting is really good. PXR and CRX also look really good together too and have good chemistry. I could have easily watched double the amount of episodes of them.
I think one of the most interesting aspects of this drama is how it challenges the status quo of āromantic relationships are kingā with having the initial driving relationship being a platonic, non-familial one. Thereās recently been quite a bit of internet discussion on platonic relationships and how theyāre not viewed as equally important in storytelling and how thereās writers/audiences that want to change that. I also think itās interesting that the plot has Yezi cut ties with her dad despite trying to show him as a somewhat complicated character who loves her on some level. Itās gotten Yezi scolded by viewers but I think it sends a very nuanced, yet surprising message about abusive relationships and not having to accept them. This tied into the showās strong sense of found family amongst the characters Yezi surrounds herself feels low-key progressive.
Iām up to ep five, and Iām finding this a lot like Jun Jiu Ling in that the story, once it gets going, is…
If I remember right, the JJL cuts were the platformās decision not really censorship although they lost a lot of episodes too. I say this because basically halfway through or towards the end of its airing, Youku uploaded a better version with ābetterā filters, smoother edits, and some missing scenes replaced. It feels like they wouldnāt have been able to do that so fast if they needed it to be reviewed by censors.
A link to a recent translated interview by PXR: https://youtu.be/BLgNNDmvBXY The YouTuber said they would translate her interviews in the future which is awesome! Sheās so thoughtful, well spoken, and often says some really inspirational things.
I feel like Iām going to die with regrets because of this drama lol.I really donāt understand why the last…
They are getting a lot of ridicule for the age gap. If they did work together again, theyād have to change PXRās styling so she doesnāt look as young.
Everyone has their own hamlet. Itās good you found a drama you like. Just enjoy it then and leave those who…
But what does that drama have to do with the SJFY page other than you like it and found the flow and editing better? The premise isnāt even the same. Recommendations are fine but coming to a dramaās page with āhey this other drama is betterā is a strange approach to one. Also, SJFY only has one truly famous main actor and thatās FSF. PXR and ZZT are not as well known domestically.
Not going to lie tho. I really wish the rumors of Sifang Pavilion with Zheng Yecheng were true. It would have been such a good combo and we would have seen PXR as an antagonist.
