Hi all! Anyone know any reason why Bad Buddy EP 9. especially Part 3/4 exploded in views the past two days?
It's been going up by a few hundred thousands the past two days each. It gained essentially a million views over the weekend.
By the way, we are just 25k views shy of 150 million views in YouTube. We should cross that milestone before Monday here in Singapore. (Which means my estimate was too conservative by about a week plus. We cross this milestone over a week earlier than expected! And it's a month or so earlier than my previous estimate!)

The Oath of Love has just been released 2 days ago in Tencent Video and WeTV. And I heard that there is also hope for Immortality fans out there for their series to come out.
(Note that The Oath of Love is not a BL series, but its main male lead was also the one of the main BL leads in The Untamed)
It has 500 million views in Tencent Video on first day alone for its first four episodes, not including views from WeTV and Viki, and now it is already over 670 million there (I just realised that you can see overall stats of series in Tencent, but unfortunately not WeTV - otherwise, I also want to know how many views Bad Buddy gathered there)
670 million views in just over 2 days, when even 2gether in YouTube is still just at 630 million views after almost 2 years. I wonder just how many views Immortality will have when it airs after such a long and much anticipated wait?
I just stumbled upon this new BL series (The Miracle of Teddy Bear), going to air on 27 March 2022. Looks interesting. And while here we are still hoping and wishing for Bad Buddy to appear in Netflix, this series appears in Netflix (Note: Netflix Asia only) right from the start of its airing (:(
(I am sure Bad Buddy will end up in Netflix, but maybe a few more months from now)
Power of Channel 3 behind this series speaks volumes (that's why it can have 15 episodes of 1h 30 mins each, and that would have been equivalent to 25 episodes for Bad Buddy - imagine how much more of PatPran we could have gotten with that, it's essentially double that of what Bad Buddy had, like if it has a second season)
Note: Channel 3 is the second largest TV channel in Thailand, second after Channel 7. It maintains a sizeable online presence too, as its YouTube channel has almost 2.5 times the number of subscribers than GMMTV's YouTube channel.
From my earlier works, when LineTV was still existent (prior to 31 Dec 2021), I did some estimation for ITSAY and IPYTM, plus TharnType as well (these were only available in LineTV and not in YT)
It's always dangerous to extrapolate and estimate, but based on my best estimation... (take with a grain of salt, since LineTV viewership is likely greater due to no YT version as competitor)
ITSAY+IPYTM together would hypothetically have anywhere between 200-300 million views in YouTube now (meaning above Dark Blue Kiss and below SOTUS, LBC, on par with Theory of Love) in views
(Note: Each ITSAY and IPYTM episodes are almost/about twice as long as other typical BL series, GMM or non-GMM, so the number of episodes or views, were they to be compared on a more equal footing, would need to be close to doubled. The above numbers have already taken this into account.)
Tharntype S1+S2 on the other hand is massive, having somewhere around 500 million views in YouTube (hypothetical), about third among all Thai BL series behind 2gether and its sequel (which now has almost 800 million combined) and the SOTUS universe (over 550 million views combined)
(Love by Chance S1+S2 is probably fourth overall just behind them, with close to 500 million views - including hypothetical LBC Season 2 YT)
Just sharing with all of you part of my almost year-long work/or rather 'passion'?
Almost done with the update to the top Thai BL series by viewership in YouTube.
Only 2gether, SOTUS and Love By Chance so far have passed 20 million views each on all of its episodes (LBC EP 2 just passed this mark some time ago).
Talking about Love By Chance, together with 2Moons2 (which is among the top in list also), these two are the classic example of how stupid and unreasonable actions by actor management and production company squandered the potential of these series with relatively large fanbase.
(Love By Chance 2 could have been equally great in numbers if SaintPerth/AePete remained, just as MeanPlan/TinCan story picked up from where LBC ended, instead of them 'reimagining and rewriting' parts of the story again)
(2Moons2 could have built up to a good third season that never materialise so far, and which itself had built upon the foundations from the first 2Moons, despite the change in the entire actors slate)
Note: Neither LBC 2 and 2Moons are available in YouTube, so any attempts to compare viewership may be meaningless. But based on numbers, trends and comments, LBC 2 should be significantly behind LBC, while 2Moons shld be just below 2Moons2, had they both been released in YouTube as per GMM's series)
Bad Buddy 12 episodes stats (note: airing completed over 50 days ago)EP 1 - 15,761,000EP 2 - 12,081,000EP 3 -…
Current Cutie Pie stats for comparison:
EP 1 - 9,814,000 EP 2 - 8,665,000 EP 3 - 8,002,000 EP 4 - 5,180,000
Total - 31,661,000
This is still higher than what Bad Buddy managed during its first four episodes (but Bad Buddy began picking up after EP 4)
Fans and watchers alike are divided in their opinion over this series (myself included) - and stats wise, note that since the series is mostly available only in YouTube, it's not divided unlike Bad Buddy (with WeTV and live TV), and Not Me (with AISPlay and also live TV), so that's a big reason why it can also achieve more views in YouTube.
In the post on stats I just posted below this comment, Not Me managed to get slightly less than half what Bad Buddy got (comparing 12 episodes) during its airtime. (Don’t get me wrong ok? It’s still great, viewership wise)
Meanwhile, so far, Enchante seems to be a rather big flop in terms of viewership (note, not necessarily quality wise)
Reasons for Not Me? It's mainly the genre. Despite what many OffGun and Not Me fans would say (that GMM didn't give them support and all - note: Bad Buddy was also lacking support as well), it was actually thanks to OffGun's dedicated fandom and power (that is much more established than OhmNanon) plus the chemistry and acting by other pairings that allowed Not Me to even reach this level of viewership. (If it had been played and helmed by other actors, non-GMM pillar or renown, it would have flopped in viewership big time too)
(Not everyone like to watch heavy, intrigued, and sometimes, controversial contents, although Not Me did excellent in bringing up those topics. But reality is, many audience are perhaps not tuning in to these)
Reasons for Enchante? Based on what I watched so far, it's the problem with screenwriting and quite a few other issues. Plus, the plot itself is problematic. Still an enjoyable show, but it seems that it's now mainly just the fans driving the viewership (since the stats per episode are roughly stagnant between 1-2 million). It can't get more popular than that because of this.
Note: This is mainly assessing based on statistical performance.

Just wondering why the ranking keeps on slipping, #246 now. No offense to ATOTS, as I personally feel that Bad Buddy is better overall than ATOTS (ATOTS is great too), and therefore, it should be ranked higher than ATOTS (#198 now)
And if we base it on 'uncapped' true rating of 9.2 or 9.3 as we saw a few weeks ago, it should be on par with The Untamed, or just below it (means should be in top 20)
