I know the book wasn’t meant to be pleasant, the way it’s written, the author wanted it to be twisted and terribly raw. I’m not saying i prefer sugar coating things, neither do i assert that people shouldn’t move on from their past love. I’m all for it, I’m not talking about sexual morals, I’m talking about cheating, pervert behavior, and doing sexual things while introducing each other as “siblings” to other people. These are basic human moral compasses being crossed which I’m not for.

In another drama, fake it till you make it. The ML was a total playboy, it’s thoroughly implied that he has had many encounters with women before. However, I liked it because he was exclusively for the FL once they started dating/ confessed

Be so fr rn, we’re not just talking about whether the ML is getting intimate with other girls or not. He almost did it with Tuli wearing miao jing’s dress in the novel. Sick. He flirted with multiple women when still in a relationship with Tu li. Assuming FL’s relationship with her bf is real, he kisses her two different times, asking if she wants to have an affair with him. there are seriously some twisted things in the novel, this just being the surface level of things

I haven’t watched her dramas in a while, I’ve been watching other dramas where the FLs have makeup that doesn’t give douyin so naturally i could see a stark comparison when I started this. Ofc if you compare her makeup to her makeup from a few previous dramas, this is better although there is no blush in the first ep, just super pale foundation. AGAIN, I’m not criticizing her. It’s her team

In the novel, she exposed some big shots with evidence, working with her ex, Cen ye who’s a lawyer (the one who texted her phone in the drama asking if she landed safely bc he doesn’t know where she went). she needed to lay low for a while and she told him she’ll get a job back home. He assumes it’s her mom’s hometown but she goes to her place with Chen yi instead. Cen ye promised her a lump sum salary when the situation calms down.

This is the reasoning she gave chen yi for returning but the truth is she saw an excuse and took the chance to be with him. she’s been at her post grad job for like 2 years so has the experience to move. She also gets cen ye to investigate what chen yi has been up to these years.

I can see how this scene is romantic but the entire scenario makes it a hella lot different. this is making me realize how vastly different readers are. Novel Chen yi is in that cinema with his gf. Miao is simply leading on the other guy despite her saying it’s fake at the start. he gave her a puff and she coughed, it’s like his remainder that she is not fully who she’s acting like, grown and has seen everything. tu li still considers her his sis when they’re out there sharing these moments.

It’s not and I know. The team did her dirty. I’m disappointed at them though, the makeup is awful and distracting. She doesn’t have to look super flawless with eye smile makeup and pouty pink lips in every single one of her dramas. I’ve heard there is a bigger reason behind why her makeup stays the same but i think it distracts so much from her acting or any other skills she can show on screen

I hate it so much, even in the novel where it’s awful. I’m not ok with emotional cheating, even if they’re endgame they shouldn’t get together with other people with each other in mind.

regardless of the nature of their relationship, he is involved with tu li. for Miao jing, cen ye is her ex bf in the novel (although we only saw a text from him in the drama till now), he is the SML

Just started the first ep and FL’s makeup is throwing me off again. They always do this actress dirty when it comes to makeup just bc she’s an idol. I guess that’s the reason, I’m not sure. It’s giving a cpop idol cosplaying with idol makeup that’s poorly done, not a character in a xianxia drama. Especially when ML’s closer to her face, you can see how much white powder has been dabbed to her face with no blush or anything

I genuinely can’t too 😭 do stay away from the novel though, it’s not worth it if your priorities lie in ML and FL being exclusive to each other. I regret reading the novel for the most part

toxic extreme is actually the best way to describe it, I said it’s realistic because there are rarely people waiting on their past love for six years and it’s rare to see healed individuals after facing so much trauma, being young dumb kids in a home with no proper adults to guide them. it was terribly raw in the novel. I can see why a happy ending in the novel was much more fulfilling for you given all the trauma they go through, and how toxic they’ve become, which is not watered down.

That was honestly one of the worst scenes of the novel. I wish I could erase most of the novel from my head, all of it works too

Fr but most readers seem to like it for how terribly raw and morally crazy the plot is along with unstable leads. Safe to say, I’m not one of them

The texts are from someone she saved as CY (it’s cen ye). they texted about sending work materials to her and his most recent text was asking if she landed safely.

In the flashback, her phone text was a one line post of her saying something like “thunder, can’t sleep” which is why ML enters her room to accompany her.

Exactly! She masks her side of crazy and puts up a front. She does this to a point people around her doubt if they’re crazy for doubting her but for ML, this is normal. It’s so weird. I would consider this a kind of manipulation instead of backbone but they’re both pretty messed up and she doesn’t even seem to be aware. She knows how one would normally behave but doesn’t seem to internalize it, it’s very unsettling. Their childhood messed them up but the slight difference is Chen yi will slightly be aware of him being crazy. However, he would not question it because Miao jing and Chen yi’s boundaries are weirdly set up around each other
