I'm just starting this drama, can anyone tell me why the FL is kinda clueless about the princes' backgrounds when she was one of the princes' consort when she was Lady Gu? Shouldn't she be extra aware of their stories and backgrounds? Not when ML is telling her?

Just finished this drama, I really don't know how to feel about this. It was rushed in the end and kinda all over the place. Some irrelevant arcs took up so much time. A lot of scenes were cut too.

You know what I realized, girl’s missing eye lashes and her eyes are so symmetrical, it’s uncanny. Also when she smiles, her eyes struggle to smile with her. Idk what is going on

Gu Qin is the most revolting and disgusting villain I have seen in a while. I hate all aspects of him. There are villains who make you think no one is born a villain but damn this Gu Qin is absolutely evil, it’s so gross

Gu Qin is disgusting af. But Zhili, I would’ve slapped some sense into you too girl. In fact, I would’ve done it thrice. Bitch you not only had such feelings for an already married trash who is actually your “teacher”., you went a mile ahead by casually accepting that throw-up worthy confession of his, just a few days after his wife passed away? Not once did you question that? Asking Di Nian to not talk nonsense, girl your whole life a big damn nonsense rn

Yes! but it takes two to tango so the drama just feels like ML fell for her, FL did not so there’s no tension. FL seems unbothered by ML mostly

It’s not just this drama, so many dramas that gets adapted from the novel loses the very thing that kept readers hooked. I can’t imagine being the author of one of these novels, putting so much effort into my characters and their relationship, just for a company with production rights to butcher it.

This is not meant to be a “he falls, he falls harder for the revenge driven FL, they go reckless for their cause” drama bc the novel is “she falls, she falls harder, she’s devoted, he’s devoted to her, they’re devoted to their cause”. The novel FL is a strong woman in love, here it’s just a strong steadfast woman. If it weren’t a romance or an own plot drama, I wouldn’t have cared. It’s just that, they’re butchering yet another adored novel. It’s sad

They lack chemistry that needs to be built up using nuances and tension in scenes. Idk if it’s poor direction but the novel seems way better chemistry wise. Also, it’s not getting better in the recent eps either

I don’t think it’s because of any personal life change she’s going through, it’s more that, wjy seems to struggle with nuances like softening her eyes when it’s not explicitly implied in the scene. Like she does sad scenes well, shows anger well, but during happy scenes, it’s a bit uncanny. Sometimes her lower half of her face smiles and not her eyes. Micro-expressions sets actors apart

Also, what’s the candy kiss omg, pmo. I never thought I’d see a wide eyed almost kiss that bad again in a cdrama. and their collective, “it’s sweet” after. like hello, it’s not? I don’t feel the tension. don’t come for me saying I don’t like wjy or czy. I’ve loved seeing them both in their previous dramas, this just has no chemistry in a plot which has so much potential. the novel leads would’ve laughed at how bland the drama romance comes off

If it was genuinely promoted as just a political drama with a side sprinkle of romance, I wouldn’t have cared. It’s a historical romance drama tho, I really don’t see the feelings that FL has for ML. ML seems intrigued. Also, FL is reckless in the name of doing what ML can’t do and ML’s only plan to save his kingdom is using the FL and assigning his trusted aides to her

idk maybe bc she was hurt. she moved on and had a university bf, then an office one (she liked his signature bc his initials are the same as Chen Yi’s). so, he was in the back of her mind. It’s weird. he wasn’t home too, he was away and nobody knew what he did. she was in his back of the mind even when he was with Tu Li. It’s weird

I thought you were addressing the scene were the novel ML tries to have sex with Tu Li when she wears Miao Jing’s dress omg. I agree with you that I don’t care if they moved on and had partners, it’s just that I hate it when you emotionally cheat on that partner just because you had a ‘past’ love.

That makes sense, I believe this was shot a while back. Glad it’s better in her recent drama though. She doesn’t deserve hate because of what her team does
