She doesn’t have a kid in the novel since she wasn’t married yet so I guess that part ended with her death and his imprisonment since his brother-in-law didn’t like him. However, based on his character, LX would have made sure Li LAN’s kid was taken care of before he enacted his plan. I’m kind of glad they didn’t open that can of worms since his brother-in-law seems like would be one of those relative characters who take advantage or betray you for money. One messy side of the family was enough with ZY’s mom’s disapproval.

IMO, one of the best novel adaptations where they didn’t butcher everything badly. Most novel adaptations are really just borrowing the name of the novel and characters for over half the drama and might have a few scenes from the novel. The few changes they made made sense and worked to enhance the drama.

When ZLN asked to meet with ZY, it was recorded that she entered and left that apartment in a different set of clothes. After ZY left, Gao came out. Gao was hiding in the room and ZY didn’t know so it was all a set up. All that was recorded so it looked like ZY went to the hotel to meet with Gao which could insinuate that she was messing around with Gao. That would incite ZLN’s fans to hate on ZY.

They still find ways to be together…she sneaks out after everyone’s in bed. That was their son’s (Li Siri) gripe…lol. She sneaks out to LX while he’s asleep at Grandma’s. So they basically relive their first New Years together for the first dozen years of their son’s life…lol.
