Qingzhou was the only one that had a Queen, an ancestor of BFX. It seems that the Youzhou Princess Chunran wants to be Youzhou’s first ruling Queen.

BFX definitely has her own thoughts and she doesn’t care about ruling the world but she’s not oblivious to her place as Princess of Qingzhou either based on her good relationship with her family. Qingzhou doesn’t care about ruling the world, just about defending their piece of it, defending their people. I can see where BFX gets her thoughts from. She’s spoiled by her father and brother, getting to roam the world carefree and see what it’s truly about rather than be in a gilded cage like HC’s sister.

So the states allow for Queens to rule if there’s no successful male heir? Qingzhou had a Queen before and the current Princess of Youzhou wants a biddable husband so that she can rule on her own as Queen and not be someone’s consort? I saw the episode where she was conversing with her maid that she can’t marry HC because HC wants the world (Dadong throne as Emperor) and she wants to stay in Youzhou as it’t first Queen? lol…HC really has the wrong idea about the two princesses…they are nothing like his sister. They want their own piece of the world their way.

Hope the ending isn’t like Siege inFog but it’s Republican Era. About 90% of dramas taking place in that era have sad or open ending 😩. But hoping for best.

Totally agree with everything you’ve said. Lately it seems that the historical dramas start out good then midway through they just devolve into a merry-go-round of the same old stuff. Was hoping it wasn’t going to last long but from the previews, it’s going to last at least another 8 episodes??? If so, it would be such a waste…was hoping it would get back on track with the main plot earlier. That Mount Wu arc was good.

She was so scared during the ceremony and the flashbacks make it seem so. Also, in the flashback it seemed like even though the King didn’t love Queen Yige, they were amiable which made maid Baili jealous.

It was a political marriage to make his position as the head of their state stronger since I think he was the son of a consort who was of lower origins. His relationship with Baili reminds me of Minglan’s father’s relationship with Concubine Lin in TSOML. They literally get away with murder until the husband is left with no choice.

There’s ML characters that I find annoying as well. For me, I don’t look at the characters with labels but more try to understand how the characters are written and their backstories. What annoys me when FL characters are criticized is when they are criticized for not liking the ML since the ML is the apple of the fandom’s eyes. I see this a lot where the ML can do no wrong even if their character is written as a jerk. The ML gets a redemption arc and all is forgiven even if the ML basically raped the FL. Someone told me in a K-drama thread that it’s a Oppa thing where the fans really only care about the ML and will criticize the FL even if it’s a well written character 🤦🏻‍♀️ Something I’ve never really understood.

I understand your feelings. Believe me, I’m not a fan of some of the stunts the character pulled. I’m not a fan of harassment of any kind by any gender. I don’t believe it’s acceptable which is why she’s got a bad reputation. Aside from her behavior with chasing the ML, the first episode showed her drinking at a public house which is not done by noble ladies. Her behavior isn’t just about the stepmom and sister but her immediate family as a whole. That whole household abandoned her. So when she burried her mother, she changed herself. The character kind of reminds me of the FL from A Girl Like Me. Except in this drama, the FL has a traumatic back story to explain her acting out/rebellion against her father’s family. In the other drama, that’s just how she was due to being spoiled. I had a hard time with that FL in the beginning too.

I think they’ll show character growth in the FL.

Ooh…so royal dad has secrets…is he really going to rebel with the weapons or is he secretly wanting to get revenge on the Lu family? He’s cruel to FL but was staring at the swing where they were once a happy family before Lu stepmom came into the picture.

I’ll admit that some parts are a little too much but her change in character was explained well. Her family trauma…I’m waiting for it to come out that her mom didn’t kill herself. I’m thinking it was the stepmother or a Lu family henchman.
