Can someone explain the significance of the setting to me? Shangai's cuisine, job market, quality of life, culture, and so on are frequently mentioned. They sound relevant to the story but I have no context.

Like your list, it is helpful. Yesterday I found this website: https://whatisleaving.com. Since I am newly familiar…
Thanks, I'm glad you find it helpful!

Sites like that are great but sometimes they are full of ads and pop-ups which can make it hard to navigate. I personally prefer to make these lists here (and sometimes written down in a notebook as well) to help myself keep track and have all my watch data in one single place.

Title Suddenly at Midnight Spoiler
While I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish, some moments felt repetitive and the final montage was a little too drawn out for my liking. Also, that kaleidoscope effect? Incredible.

I am a little confused by the title though. Nothing about it was 'sudden', there was plenty of build up and payoff.

Oh wow no way I actually wasn't sure if anyone actually used these, this just made my day thank you!!! ♡

There are websites that track what's coming and going on Netflix but they're flooded with ads and popups which makes it difficult to navigate.

No worries! I don't always clarify on the list itself, just my profile, that this only applies to my specific region. I'll be more mindful of that in the future :)

(Also they DID NOT announce removing Hwarang, it just disappeared overnight and I hate when they do that!)

It's called Secret Deal sung by LMSY. It's on Spotify along with other songs in the OST.
Thanks!

anyone knows any other dramas/movies that has a poly or open rls ?? most of the recc its plainly affairs
There's a J-drama called Two Husbands, One Wife. I'm watching it right now and I'm really enjoying it, and it doesn't start with an affair but a sincere interest in polyamory.

That laugh track was very jarring, at first I thought it was a dream or a show within a show.

Is this supposed to be a remake of or inspired by I Know What You Did Last Summer?

Also, diary of a prosecutor, and parasite
Thank you! Parasite is on the January list already, but I didn't notice Diary of a Prosecutor (been spending most of my time on Tubi and YouTube lately). I'll add it now :)
