Anyway, Bao Shangen is perfect for this kind of role/drama. She is best for a lively, expressive, cute and drama queen role in a lighthearted, comedy drama. Her as Huang Rong was a miscast, but as Ming Tan and Li Song'er, she shines.
This remake consists two parts. On the sequel part, He Yu only appears on ep 1. On the prequel part, he and Meng Ziyi are the main characters in Nin Yin Manual arc and supporting characters in Eastern Heretic & Western Venom arc.
Other messy thing I want to mention: They go incognito back to the Moon Sect yet they wear such grand and lavish clothes and accessories. They walk all the way from the capital. Wow what a way to attract thieves. In a glance people could tell they are nobles. They don't even bring guards! Good, good.
I thought it would be at least an entertaining mini. Dark theme, revenge, misunderstanding, just like any other mini. The one thing different is green flag ML. He is such a good guy, he loves FL and his only brother. The FL is a good actress, I could feel her hatred. It's just that almost everything is messy.
Like any other people who watched this. The star sect doctor is a cutie. Although the ML is a green flag, but FL and this doctor are a much more perfect as a couple. FL laughs, smiles, relax, and jokes with him, just like a normal girl. He makes her forget her mission and painful past. His cheerful and easy going personality merges with her lovely and feminine charm.
Other thing that i like is she doesn't forget her mission just bcos she supposedly "loves" ML.
It is a romcom, with no conflict at all, no villain, nothing. Just a modern girl trying to finish her game mission and eventually becomes the gf of her supposedly enemy.
If you ask me who is the villain? Perhaps the game system. So noisy.
The ML is surprisingly innocent. Btw they don't kiss every episode though.
I really like the second couple: her sister and the prince. They are so silly and adorable.
What I don't like is the last ep. I was dumbfounded. The sudden change is so abrupt and left you wondering did something happened between?
This mini drama is cute, fluffy and lighthearted. The FL is hardworking and not easily swayed. Glad that the ML is such a green flag, sweet, loving and doting. Good for you if you feel stuffy or tired with red flag ML or heavy drama.
Tbh I still hate how they created a female character for Mu Wuxia for romance purposes, while completely erased Qian Baimei, Xu Yangui and Consort Lan who have significant roles 😡

In the novel Shen Zaiye has about 7 concubines, 1 principle wife, and few other women in his mansion. Taohua is one of his concubines. Later she helps Zaiye eliminates his concubines and becomes his principle wife. Don't worry, he doesn't touch nor like any of his women, only Taohua.

Maybe this isn't for you. If you don't feel like it, just drop it. Don't force yourself just bcos others like it. I myself don't watch popular drama like LBFAD, LLTG or SOKP. I usually drop a drama after 2-4 episodes if I don't like it, this includes mini drama.
