That's why I was against it when she was announced for Empress Reborn bcos they are very similar in characters. But since the two drama have at least a year gap of broadcast, it will be fine.

Oh if only you know... the novel has it worse. The author actually wrote about 3 chapters only for ML talking gibberish cheesy lines to seduce FL 🥱 and it happens a LOT that I had to skip a lot of chapters.

I prefer Yingruo with her husband from the novel bcos he genuinely loves her 😭

2. Ambitious FL x pretentious ML

4. Equally smart and ruthless main couple

6. Hidden enemies and plot twists
7. Acting!!!!!
8. Beautiful settings

Then you might as well try it.
This drama is no 1 for 9 days, surpassing any other airing drama.

The novel is 853 chapters long, heavier in politics with MORE charming enemies and supporting characters. The reason why I didn't drop the novel is bcos of these aspects, not bcos of the main couple.

Idk why some people are sensitive when a woman is NOT a love oriented person; when a woman focuses on her goals instead of love.

Shen Xihe is NOT the first female lead where she gives no shit about love.

Shen Miao from Empress Reborn.
Zhuang Hanyan from The Glory.
Jiang Li from The Double.

These women are all focus on their revenge and don't care about love, making the men chase after them.
Shen Xihe is just another one to make it on the list.

She isn't perfect.
She is emotionless. That's imperfection.
She is cold hearted and calculative. That's imperfection.
She doesn't believe in love. That's imperfection.

However after she falls in love, all she has is fragility and vulnerability. She will cry often, anxious, uncertain and angry.
She has already fallen for the ML even before his adulthood ceremony, in which the 9th prince noticed. She just doesn't know how to love properly.

On the other hand, ML is pathetic. He steals, intrudes, pretends, lies, threatens. He sacrifices a lot and expects something in return, to make sure she can only choose him.

It's funny bcos he is "weak" and will faint when blown by the wind, yet he is expected to have multiple wives so he could have a LOT of children. No, he will "pass out" before the foreplay 😂😂😂

Although I hate the main couple and their romance, I like the political issues in the novel and the side characters, even the villains make the novel interesting.
I was utterly shocked when they erased 8th prince/Changyan. I think his arc is the most interesting. The drama became melancholy with all these 1vN romance, even changing a great character into a psycho 🥱

The ML has always been a pathetic since he fell in love. That's why I hate him (from the novel). He is a red flag.

It's not that she is guarded, but she had never been in love. She didn't know what it feel to love someone. Her marriage with the 5th prince was a forced one and she didn't fall for him despite his efforts and love. But now, as Shen Xihe, she had already fallen for Huayong, but she is afraid bcos it is her first time. She is afraid if the same thing will happen again.

What I hate is the scriptwriter changed Prince Xin/5th prince into a psycho in the drama. He is such a good person in the novel that even Xihe respects him and they often work together.

The couples are happy, but they have to go through a lot of fire to be happy. Don't worry, you'll be satisfied with their journey 😚

Me too. I read the novel after MZY was announced for the drama and I got curious why so many people love the novel. As I read it I realized so much similarities in both novels and I felt the ick towards the ML. Some people just love red flag ML, but not me. I dropped it. The ONLY character there that I love is Shen Miao's best friend.
