Title Dawn Is Breaking Spoiler
Oh no so different meaning he was not poisoned and died?
The explanation is a bit long 🙏

Only future empress or first legitimate wife will have marriage ceremony.

Lady in waiting is basically a status higher than normal maids bcos their purpose is to serve the emperor in bed. However bcos there are so many women, some might not get the favor even years after they entered the palace. Thus they are named "lady in waiting".

If the emperor likes that woman, or if she later gets pregnant, she will be granted higher status as "beauty" or even "noble lady". Then she will climb higher on status.

If you remember, in the drama, Mingyue was appointed as what they called seamstress, and her father was disappointed. But then, she became a consort bcos the emperor likes her and she has served him in bed 😭

Meanwhile in the novel, Mingyue was still a virgin when she married Li Chi. They got married in proper manner bcos she is his first legitimate wife and will be the princess consort.

Note: there are few examples of lady in waiting in cdrama.

Title Dawn Is Breaking Spoiler
Oh no so different meaning he was not poisoned and died?
In the novel, girls from 13 to 16 y.o are sent to the palace to be lady in waiting. Mingyue was 12 so she wasn't supposed to go, but her sister.

However bcos her sister didn't want to, Jiang family, including Mingyue's mother, sold her off! They all want Mingyue to gain favor from emperor so Jiang father can get promoted 😡

Mingyue was 12 and hadn't had her period. So the emperor had to wait about 2 years. Mingyue refused to serve, so she committed suicide and was sent to cold palace. Then, Zui saved her and changed her identity.

Title Dawn Is Breaking Spoiler
Oh no so different meaning he was not poisoned and died?
The novel is very different from the drama.

The poison in Zui is cured bcos Wanyin stole the antidote from Pei Che (if I'm not wrong). So the last half of the novel, is the preparation to ascend the throne.

Li Chi married Jiang Mingyue and gave her amnesiac drugs. Mingyue regained her memories and helped Zui with his plans. Li Chi is deeply in love with Mingyue and committed suicide after meeting her and their daughter for the last time.

Li Chi also poisoned Wanyin which connects their life together. So Zui can't kill him. Zui asked Pei Che to help him cure Wanyin.

After Zui ascended the throne, he claimed Mingyue as his lost sister and granted her a princess status and married her with Tinghan.

In the novel Zui and Wanyin have a very happy marriage life. In the end Zui gave his throne to his son and traveled in incognito with Wanyin.

P.S i will delete this comment if you don't like it 🙏

ML's role here kinda reminds me of his role in the revenge of begonia
I don't watch this drama, but I watched Revenge of Begonia. His character there is cold, but loves the FL so much that he treats her affectionately. He spoils and protects her. Definitely not a red flag, more like a sweet but tough guy who "talk less, do more".

That's why I dropped the drama after she died 😑

It is so disgusting and disturbing seeing a 2003 line actress being r*ped by a 77 line old man!

Title Love in Pavilion Spoiler
I believe the last two have a better storyline and more action vs cgi. I think these two will be a lot better.
Yes, Sword and Beloved happens around the same time with Red Moon Pact bcos both are telling the stories of the second generation. Love in Pavilion is the parent story.

The lead in Love in Pavilion (Wangquan Hongye/Zhang Yunlong and Dongfang Huaizhu/Liu Shishi), are the parents of the ML in Sword and Beloved (Wangquan Fugui/Cheng Yi).

Dongfang Huaizhu's sister, Dongfang Qinlan (Shen Yue), is the mother of the ML in Red Moon Pact (Dongfang Yuechu/Gong Jun).

It is confusing 😅 that's why people made characters charts to sort out their relationships.

I have too many complains about this drama.

1. The usual enemies to lovers troupe but it turns out to be a misunderstanding.
2. The FL is illiterate!!! It's been a long time since I've seen such a stupid FL after Xiao Yanzi 🤦‍♀️ Her father was a general who became Grand Tutor, yet she can't even read??? Was she raised by lions?
3. The FL turns into a clumsy, weak and useless girl who can be beaten in just 1 move.
4. In just 6 eps, she said the word "kill" for more than 20 times! I actually lost count. She talks big, but doesn't have the ability to do anything!
5. FL can only throw shuriken without actual moves, unlike in the first eps. I thought she was the top assassin?
6. Sometimes it feels like ML is raising a dog instead of having a gf bcos she keeps barking.
7. Except ML, Mo Wei and the empress, other characters are so dumb and childish.

Idk how did I survive watching it until the end 😑

In summary, this is a comedy drama with slight mystery. The plot is to uncover the truth about the incident 16 years ago.

Idk why I decided to watch this, but turns out it is enjoyable! It is the enemies to lovers troupe, just like any other mini drama.

1. FL is cool and strong, and she doesn't get weak and useless like any other drama when she faces the ML. She is still strong, wary, and capable. She does her own thing and doesn't budge a bit.
2. ML is reasonable, kind and a bit flirtatious.
3. It is a very lighthearted drama with a lot of comedy.
4. The fighting scenes are well done!
5. The main boss doesn't feel like main boss.
6. The drama is mostly about the couple get to know e/o before they finally become official.
7. This drama is just 5-7 mins per eps!
8. Both leads are stunning, the hanfu are pretty and the intimate scenes are so nicely shot.
9. The ending... it is reasonable considering her character.

It is recommended if you want a lighthearted drama with equally strong leads and cute second couple.

Oh yeah there is only ONE prince in this drama.

Oh my heart broke for this 2nd couple, they didn’t deserve this fate
The novel is WAY better than the drama. Idk why the screenwriter changed the story. Both couples have HE in the novel.

Mingyue was sold to the palace when she was 12. But 2 years later she was sent to cold palace and was saved by Zui. She changed her identity and Tinghan promised to propose when Li Chi met her and plotted to marry her!

Li Chi and Mingyue got married. He even gave amnesia drugs to Mingyue. But he eventually truly fell in love with her. She gained her memories back and helped Zui to ascend the throne. She then committed suicide, but was saved again. She gave birth to a daughter.

Zui became the emperor and claimed Mingyue as his lost sister. Therefore he granted her princess status and married her to Tinghan. They then have another son. Happy ending!

I assume the screenwriter and director hate Mingyue so they scratched her whole story and killed her in the drama.

Title Love in Pavilion Spoiler

This one was filmed after Red Moon Pact. It is indeed a prequel. Love in Pavilion has a sad ending bcos FL dies after giving birth. The third installment, Sword and Beloved happens in the same timeline with Red Moon Pact.

The son born by the FL in Love in Pavilion is the ML in Sword and Beloved. While the ML on Red Moon Pact is his cousin.

You will miss the meaningful ending if you do.
Lol I did! Somehow they all appeared on my timeline! But now that I'm watching, I've been wondering in what eps should I stop. I want to save my eyes, you know...

I've seen the ending clips on weibo and Twitter when it finished airing. Therefore it took me time before I decided to watch the drama.

I'd say 5 eps on the pretending, while the rest is real feelings. Then from ep 17/18 the cold war started.
And oh He Zhen was mumbling as well, so reluctant to say the words. You know, when someone is so reluctant, you won't even bother to listen.

On Are You the One Aug 29, 2024
They spent more than 10 eps for the cold war 🙄

Btw I don't like how Zhao Quan didn't tell Miantang that Xingzhou is seriously injured after saving a kid. He was mumbling, even asked He Zhen as a mediator. Really? He Zhen would never say anything for Xingzhou's sake.

homaygahd why r they still pushing the brother and the fl ...
I think it is meant to be the setup of why Shin is so in love with Juyeon. Perhaps after that, the writer will either make Shin the obsessive guy who tries to steal back Juyeon, or the bad guy who tries to hurt Goon. Perhaps before, he didn't hurt Goon, it was an accident, but after Juyeon and Goon start dating, Shin will really hurt Goon.

It must be me but reading the comments I feel that I'm watching a different drama, I don't understand this hate…
Bravo! I love your explanation! You are one of the few viewers who watch the drama objectively 👍🏻
I said this last week or so. All 4 characters are not flawless bcos they are humans. Currently except Saeyan, the other three have traumatic past which resulted in their current state. Lonely, isolated, fear. Every human just need one person who is on your side for you to survive even the hardest storm.

Btw about their mom. Since Goon became a broken trophy, their mom is forcing Shin to fulfill her unfinished desire to produce a top athlete. She was a former athlete and she wants Shin to be her puppet and trophy. Thanks to her selfish desire, Goon lost his place and Shin lost his freedom. Even the ceo mocks at Goon and sees Shin as gold mine. If the father has the guts to discipline his wife, their family wouldn't end up like that.

I think this is the first time in a drama that both leads are tsundere! They keep arguing bcos they won't admit their inner feelings. Typical tsundere, always speak the opposite of the meanings 🙄 Being a fan of anime for more than 20 years, one paragraph isn't enough to explain how much I hate tsundere. But here, since both are tsundere, it feels okay 😅
