The actual culprits are Prince Qing and Queen Wan. They had planned to seize the throne, especially bcos the emperor is sick. Duke Ding is a threat to them. After finishing Duke Ding, Song Mo is needed for their plans to succeed due to his skills and influence. Song Mo is a deputy general of Jinwu Guard though, so he stays in the castle to protect the emperor.

Song Mo is favored by the emperor since he was young. Due to this, Dou Zhao also enters the royal family circle after she marries Song Mo.

Dou Zhao then warns Song Mo to be wary of Prince Qing. Therefore Song Mo distances himself from Prince Qing. This infuriates both Prince Qing and Queen Wan. They then use Song Mo's father and little brother who hate Song Mo to eliminate him. They almost succeeded.

The key person in the novel doesn't exist in the drama, so idk how would they alter the hatred in Song Mo's heart towards his father and brother.

In the novel, Song Mo has several bodyguards who always accompany him. One named Chen He. Chen He has didi, Chen Tao. Bcos Song Mo's father wants to kill Song Mo, he captured and tortured Chen Tao. Chen Tao died.

The drama replaced Chen He and Chen Tao with Lu Ming and Lu Zheng. In the novel, Lu Ming is Song Mo's assassin group leader.

Duke Ding (Song Mo's beloved uncle, the marshall who defended against the pirates) was accused, tortured and killed. Song Mo thought it was done by the emperor and crown prince. Prince Qing offered a hand to Song Mo and they rebelled. The emperor had been sick for years.

Dou Zhao's husband, Wei Tingyu is Marquis Jining. Although not a powerful noble, not as powerful as Duke Ding and Duke Ying (Song Mo's father), he seemingly allied with Prince Qing.

Later he married his own cousin. Based on the character chart, seems like Wu Shan and Song Mo will be friends. Ji Yong also loves Dou Zhao and he is the irritating type. That's why Song Mo hates him.

The new trailer shows Song Mo choking Dou Zhao! Why? That is so unnecessary. It is tainting his character 😡 why can't the writer just follow the novel and make Song Mo as clear as the water, deep as the night sky, beautiful like the spring sun, devoting, loving and flirty husband?

The novel has happy ending as she is pregnant with their second child.
