I can agree that I like dramas where he has more screen time and ofc light hearted dramas are easier to watch. I want him to do more male focused drama instead of always having to make way for the FL. SotB could be more popular internationally but that doesn’t count for anything in the Chinese market.

I want to see FI more than SotB because he will surely have more screen time in FI and it’s something different from the same old. I’m not saying he should give up romance and I don’t think anyone is saying that but doing varied projects keeps things fresh and interesting for both audiences and actors. He shouldn’t be confined to a single genre.

I think FIYS is cute but it’s nothing exceptional. I just don’t understand the cult like following it has where people are so obsessed with shipping them and constantly being like “season 2 when?”
My first Kai drama was Ancient Love Poetry and then I watched FIYS and the rest that were out at that time (Sept 2021). Modern isn’t my first choice for C drama, I find the plots are often lacking compared to costume.

you’re looking at this from the international view point. C-dramas are not being made to please international fans, they’re catered to Chinese tastes. International popularity is a bonus. FIYS wasn’t all that popular in China. I personally am a bit baffled by its global popularity. Like it’s a cute drama but there are far better dramas that Kai has done. Eight Hundred may not be a global hit but it has actually done well in China considering its obstacles. Within China as well they were even arguing a while ago that ML shouldn’t be over 35, which is the dumbest thing ever 🙄Looking at it through the actors perspective, there’s nothing particularly challenging about playing in rom coms- they want recognition for their work. For someone like Kai who has been unjustly criticized for his acting in the past I can see why he wouldn’t want to take those roles anymore.

all 3 of them are in their 30s now and have done many romance themed dramas. I’m sure they want to challenge themselves and do different things. If you want rom coms you might have to settle for other younger actors 🙂

I feel like oversized look is on a lot of red carpet looks in the past few weeks. Kai definitely suits a fitted outfit better, for formal. I actually really like his personal style -his casual looks

He has the body to pull of just about anything but I don’t think it was a good outfit. It wasn’t fitted to him, too oversized.
He still looked good because he has a beautiful face

I love the way he put the SFL in her place. Zhuohua gives him a flute, SML comes to give him a grander one or something (I watched it when it was airing 😅) and he’s like “I only need the flute in my hand” or smt to that effect.
It was very swoony.
I liked Feng Shaofeng in this one. I absolutely HATED HIM in Married. If you want to see him young -check out Palace w Yang Mi. It’s like Scarlet Heart/ Qing Dynasty but I found it more watchable than Scarlet Heart lol

Legend of Zhuohua was so good. Really funny and good relationship between the leads
