Anyone who completed it, who killed ex fiance 20 yrs ago??
It really was an accident but you could say Ding Yue, Huo Kaiming and Yang Baichun all had a hand in it. Yang Baichun is giving Gao Ying some glycerin for her father’s burns, he then tries to force himself on her. Huo Kaiming comes to the rescue and Gao Ying decides not to press things. Ding Yue had given her a packet of that potassium stuff at the hospital and it fell on the ground. Huo Kaiming passes it to her and she puts it in her pocket and she catches on fire from it mixing with the glycerin. He wants to save her but Yang Baichun runs off and tells him to run too. If they don’t say anything no one will ever know. So that’s their secret. Ding Yue couldn’t have known and she wasn’t malicious to Gao Ying
Well Chen Hongbing, I hope you’re happy. You destroyed your family 😭The ending got me, sweet Chen Hui consoling his parents. Such a sad ending for him. Songge was really his downfall. She kept making all the mistakes. Chen Hui isn’t an evil person, he was just in a desperate situation and was easy to take advantage of (by Tian Jinhai). Things spiraled so far out of his control, just 1 slip lead to everything eventually crashing down. I’ve watched a lot of crime dramas (not Chinese) but I have to say this one was probably one of the best. I do think Dad was over the top, that would probably be my only criticism. He was too smart. The drama was able to keep up the frantic pace until the end with no unnecessary scenes, nothing added that didn’t make sense in the end. I think all the actors did a great job but Kai is the heart and soul of this drama. He did so well portraying this desperate character-to save Songee, to keep the truth from his parents and the police, constantly having his hand forced by others. I can’t help but feel bad for him. Often times when crimes are committed they are not always black and white. If we compared Huo Kaiming to Chen Hui, I think we can see who is more of a villain. Same with him and Tian Jinhai. Both of these could be put under a self defence argument🥺 Honestly, this is just 10/10 for me and I will rewatch all 5 eps again tonight.
After all it was originally 12 episodic drama. Which was stretched to 20 . With absolutely no scope of adding…
As long as the story isn’t affected I don’t see why the episode length is an issue 😗lots of 40 ep drama lately have around 38 mins run time with odd 45 min episodes here and there.
This makes me furious if Xu Kai alone can reach 24k heat index in tencent Sword and Fairy with Esther Yu should've…
Read this today which may offer some insights: The main reasons Tencent is accused of "suppressing popularity":
• Strategy with non-Tencent artists: Dilraba Dilmurat's agency, Jaywalk Studio, has no equity or deep partnership with Tencent. Tencent prefers to support its own signed or deeply collaborated artists (such as the lead actors in dramas like *Joy of Life* and *My Heroic Husband*), avoiding the dominance of external top stars.
• Commercial negotiation and control of bargaining power: If a drama becomes too popular, it will raise actors' salaries and production companies' demands. Tencent suppresses popularity by restricting recommendations, trending topics, and allocating resources to reduce subsequent cooperation costs.
• Considerations for platform ecosystem balance: Tencent wants to avoid individual actors or dramas excessively dominating traffic, thereby damaging the diversity and controllability of the platform's content ecosystem. Therefore, it actively diverts and limits the promotion of "highly likely" dramas.
• Consistent historical operating patterns: From *The Legend of Anle* to *The Lantern in the Daytime*, many dramas on Tencent Video have experienced the phenomenon of "high pre-orders but locked popularity after release," which is regarded by the industry as a systemic behavior rather than an accident.
There’s no point in worrying about how people rate the drama. You can’t change it. As shown in a post earlier, people will really downrate a drama for dumb things like episode length 🙄 People love to hate. It’s also subjective, some dramas get high ratings and high popularity and they don’t really deserve it cos they’re crap and other amazing dramas get low ratings for dumb reasons. You can’t please everyone. Therefore, worry about what the drama means to you and not others. Obviously, I hope that people could watch this drama and see how good it is but it hasn’t even finished airing yet. It still has time to get higher. It’s currently rated 9.4 on WeTv so that’s nice 🙂

Never took it to mean you were saying he wasn’t as good in other roles 😉Autumn Fairy Tale is one of the biggest messes I have ever seen. I don’t think anyone should be judged from that movie 😅I understand what you mean. Chen Hui has so much going on all at once, it’s not surprising he snaps.
While watching Chen Hui, it's so difficult to imagine this is the same actor who played Bai Jue, Mei Zhu Yu, Han…
I think it’s the contrast. Kai usually plays upstanding, heroic, often powerful and intelligent characters. Very few people in real life are like them. Chen Hui is just an ordinary person, he’s smart but he’s dealing with real world realities and consequences. I think Kai has always been a great actor. I can believe him in different roles. Watching Bai Jue v Qingmu or Bian Luohuan v Yue Jinzhao gives a good example where he is playing both characters but they seem completely different like they’re played by someone else. I’m glad Kai finally got an opportunity to show himself in a different way and I really hope that more people can watch this drama and see how amazing he is and he’s not just a pretty face (even tho he still is beautiful even in Eight Hundred 🤭)
I saw a Douban user who said the episodes are too short so she's taking a star away. Ep. 4 is only 32 min.
🙄people really downrate for anything. While I agree the eps are too short, I think it’s because the original episode count was less. Now we have more episodes but shorter length
It’s satisfying to see guilt eating Songge and Chen Hui more and more. They really played everyone much.I'm…
Dunno if she had something to do with it but I think she was definitely jealous of Gao Ying because in the flashback it looks like she quickly fell for Chen Hongling who only had eyes for Gao Ying. So maybe her dying was like a guilty joy for Ding Yue
