This could be really good. Hope its not like a 100% budhist metaphor thing like Swaha that only koreans/asian people can relate to. They should put it on Netflix.
I rewatched the last episode to give it another chance, and the "realistic ending" is definitely not the problem after all. Its the way it was executed - it was just so poorly done, rushed and lackluster. Characters acting out of character, more or less zero closure for anyone, weird messages to the viewers like someone else mentioned (a woman who is married and has a kid with someone is living in the past of/is obsessed with the memories of her first love?). Realistic or not, it just came off as kind of weird to me...? Even things such as the actual editing/pacing of the last episode felt weird.
Slice of life needs its time to set up the characters, especially when its a long series like this one. I don't think this all star cast would have signed up for the drama after they read the script, if they thought it was shit. Just sit back and relax for now =)
Not really, its a vocal minority. The viewership ratings in SKorea for the first two eps are great, better than for example the opening eps of 25-21. This is gonna be a great heartwarming drama, like everyone else mentions the screenwriter is one of the best in the industry.
I also have no problems with bittersweet/realistic endings, but I feel they could have done it in a different and better way in this drama. It just felt lacking somehow, like it was missing some scenes for that satisfying closure. After it ended I became like "uhm... is that it...? Really?" Such a bummer.
How is it even possible to review without even half of the episodes out?
You would be surprised by how many weird people there are on this site, who make new accounts only to downvote dramas because they don't like someone in the cast. Pretty pathetic. Obviously the drama has just started and the screenwriter is one of the best in the industry.
Korean movies are not supposed to be this poorly written.
I would say that they rather went for a pretty safe plot. Still it did its job and was entertaining enough, at least its better written than your recent blockbuster action flick from hollywood.
The main message behind the show is obviously that suicide is the wrong way to go, and that life is precious. I think it will grow for each episode and be more and more meaningful, and might even stop someone from taking the worst decision. This drama's presentation is pretty wild but I think it will end up being an important drama.
This drama is not getting much hype in here because of the scandal? I mean its still Lee Min Ho...? Or is it because it feels more american than your regular kdrama stuff?
I also keep coming back to this drama, and this page. Definitely one of the best series ever made, globally. Like someone else wrote, its a timeless classic that never will be forgotten.
I wouldn't worry too much even if it didn't click for you after the first 2 eps, its slice of life and 20 (!!) eps. For me the first 2 eps did a good job at introducing the characters. Noh Hee Kyung has written some of the best and most beloved korean dramas of all time, so you are in safe hands. Man I should rewatch Padam Padam someday, its such a hidden gem.
I wonder what happened?
