I actually had the K version in my PTW list before. I don't mind watching Hwang Jung Eum's OTT-ness though many people can't hold up with that. But when some people commented in the drama page that in the J version FL is more natural than the original I watched this first. After finished it I deleted the K version from my PTW list mainly because I don't bother watching an older version (2015) if the story is the same. I mean I already satisfied with this version and move on ;D

Yeah it's like Thai dramas, Jdramas never put a lot of advertisement to their dramas that reach international audiences like K and C dramas. Give this one a try ;D

IMO the political is not as heavy as usual sageuk because the mystical/fantasy element itself is the main focus in this drama. If you check, there is no political genre here. The political struggle is clear, as another commenter down below said that the villains are as plain as they can be. Unlike politic-focused historical dramas (for example Joy of Life which the politic scheme itself is secretive and complicated you have to watch it) you can skip the political part and watch for the fantasy/romance part. Although I put a spoiler warning/disclaimer, I actually didn't reveal the big mystical/fantasy secrets in this article. You will find out yourself when you watch it ;D Waiting for MDL to give the feature of entry date the dramas in any list maybe will take a long time or never happen, lol. But you know you can solve it by putting dates on the notes and sort them, right?
