This drama deserves a higher rating, like 8.8 for the drama ‘The Double’… It was just too many haters during the premiere… Xie Wei is still the best ML in my costume dramas list.❤️

Agree. Wu Jin Yan spent 8 months living in Hengdian from the time she started reading the script, even though this drama was filmed in just 4 months. She canceled all her commercial activities to fully immerse herself in the character and the story. She said that during that period, she felt she had become Xue Fang Fei/Jiang Li, and it took her a long time to get out of it.

It's like Story of Kunning Palace. The couple fell into each other gradually while they didn't realize or confess it. Until late in the novel, they confessed clearly. Revenge is the main storyline and romance is sideline but hot.

Oh no, the drama didn't change it. I mean Jiang Li (梨) and Xue Fang Fei's nickname - A Li (狸) are different characters. One means pear flower, one means cat.

This Li is 梨. Jiang Li 's nickname. Nickname can be chosen from the last word of given name, or a totally different name, like Xue Fang Fei's nickname.

A Li (狸) meaning cat, it's her previous identity Xue Fang Fei's nickname. not her current name Jiang Li (梨), different characters though the same pronounciation. He's indicating he knows her real identity, and ONLY he knows the secret , to show the intimacy and unique bond.

It's a slow-burn romance. They didn't realize or confess to each other even though they already fell in (just like the couple in story of kunning palace). They confessed in the second half of the novel.

That's not his state or property. I guess sth wrong with the eng subs. It should be 'the ceremonial procession of carriages'.

Just finished 5eps, pretty good so far! Faster pace and more intense than the novel!
