You're welcome! But the Kunning Palace is real in history, it's the empress's palace in Ming and Qing Dynasties. Still, it's changed to Ning'an Palace in the drama to pass the censorship.
Does someone know what year is this drama set on? Like what historical time are the costumes etc. based on?
Fictional dynasty. The costume is a mix of Tang and Song Dynasties. Don't take it seriously 😂 Most chinese costume dramas now are not allowed to claim real dynasty (to avoid misleading in historical figures/events), unless it's Serious Historical Drama, which follows the real history.
If liuming is mofang's father and liuyu is shenli's mother.. so they are cousin right?
No, Liu Ming and Liu Yu are master and disciple. The 'Liu' are different in Chinese characters - 六 and 琉. SL's mother and master are both the disciples of Liu Ming.

You're welcome. 😊 It's still in post-production and will probably air in June, July or August. Another ZLH drama, 'Princess Royal,' will probably air at the end of this year so that his popularity can keep up all year round. But still, it depends on when the dramas pass the censorship and get distribution licences. Just keep patient.
Can anyone give me the link for the novels english translation
The novel has many professional vocabulary of Xiuzhen genre, which is different from Xianxia. It's very hard to translate because there're no corresponding English vocabulary or even concepts. It's also a mess in machine translation 😂.
They played the same role as the 14th prince, and they happened to be the ML and SML in this drama and love FL, too! Anyway, the 14th prince is so impressive in the Qing Dynasty dramas,
An interesting coincidence - LGX is the 14th prince in Scarlet Heart, XYL is also the 14th prince in Dreaming Back to the Qing Dynasty. Based on the same historical figure 😂
I’ve been scouring threads everywhere, on X, YT, Reddit etc. Some folks said it’s on Youku’s list of 2024…
Generally, costume drama is the top-level category, refers to any dramas other than modern drama and republican drama.
In the costume dramas, there are wuxia (martial arts in the mortal world), xianxia (fantasy/magics in the three realms universe), xuanhuan (fantasy/magics mainly happen in the mortal world, mostly human, no immortals/gods) , historical drama (in a strict sense - following the real history, but hard to see real historical dramas in recent years, most dramas just borrow some parts of the history background, combined with author's creation of story, eg. Love Like the Galaxy).
Other dramas based on a fictional dynasty or just a rom-com or detective story not highly related to history, you can just call them costume drama anyway.

Chinese period dramas need 6-12 months of post-production and censorship process. Most costume /historical dramas need 6-8 months, while Xianxia dramas need CGI, take longer, around 12 months or more.
Btw, The Princess Royal is not Wuxia, Wuxia genre refers to the martial arts story in the mortal world. This drama is a costume drama based on a fictional dynasty, but clothing style is based on the Three Kingdoms period to Jin Dynasty.
MJTY is a special case. It was brought forward in advance to fill the void of iQiYi before SOKP was released. And the producer/director is very work-holic😂, always stay up all night. So it took only 5 months. It's better not to rush a drama tbh. Hope it would be a good quality one!
