No, you didn't miss it - they didn't show it! It seems the writers have wasted all their time and creativity to create irrelevant scenes for fake DZY instead of showing us some more of the ML and his inner thoughts.
Right now he just comes across as bland and naively obsessed with a childhood fancy. I know that novel readers won't agree with that description, but as someone who hasn't read the novel, this is all that I can see.

No worries, I wasn't aiming at you. I haven't watched ep. 17 yet either. There's been quite a few very obvious questions about the plot earlier where I could only assume that people used the FF-button too much and missed the point where things were explained. That's why I made the joke when you mentioned FF.

Yes, seeing her bathing serves absolutely no purpose at all. That's why her exaggerated share of screentime is so irritating.
Is she the girl-friend of one of the producers?? I find no other reason for her permanent presence on the screen.

i think GJ so far is doing well in this role. This is the way the role was written, he isn't the outwardly strong and manly type. The role is a bit bland for my taste, but apparently it's coherent with the novel.
As for the revenge plot, yes, seizing the CP position would be the obvious route to take and that is exactly the reason why Anle is not taking it. Being the CP all eyes would be on her which would be contra-productive to executing a complex revenge plan. Didn't you hear the Empress Dowager permanently repeat that the CP would be under her rule? This would seriously curb the freedom of movement she currently has as a mere official.

Again, she is getting far too much screen-time that serves absolutely no purpose for the plot.
It's as if they were deliberately show-casing this actress, so I'm wondering who of the production team she's having the affair with.

Yaya, the people fast-forwarding too much one day are usually the people asking the most obvious questions the next 😈 All relying on me to suffer through the insufferable parts (she is testing my patience, too) to tell you what you've missed 😂😂😂😂

I don't know why but the hysterical fake crying at the beginning of the episode had me in stitches... and later Anle was "throning" on the chair looking at fake CZY like a pirate king watching a prisoner walk the plank.
I sincerely hope someone will make fake CZY walk the plank and soon. Her permanent self-pity is getting on my tits.

I had very few expectations... I like Dilreba, but I had some serious doubts regarding GJ. I've only ever seen him in WoH (which I loved) and I read quite a few negative comments about his acting skills. Now I am very pleasantly surprised how well he is doing because this is not an easy role!

I see your point. Maybe it is due to the ongoing dispute btw Youku and the production company that some of it feels "unfinished". Like the subs on the first episode.
It's sad for a big production to be ruined by such external factors.
I never really understood all those drama categories S+ or A+ dramas so I wouldn't notice something not having the quality that it "should have" according to its classification.

I'm quite sure you understood what I meant. Dramas filled with pretty boys IN LIEU of a decent plot or good acting.
I get the point of seeking light entertainment in times of stress, but there is a limit as to how much silliness I can take. Enjoy the show, maybe I see you again once you venture towards better quality dramas...🙋‍♀️

Novel readers may not be able to help you with this. They seem to have changed quite a bit of that (like increasing the role of the fake DZY) in the drama version.

I couldn't care less about the bad CGI. Yes, some scenes are absolutely ruined because of it, but as long as the plot is engaging and the acting is good it is just a minor detail.
Dramas like for example TTEOTM relied far too much on the (admittedly brilliant) CGI to draw viewers, but seemed to neglect the need for a coherent and engaging plot.
For me, good CGI is a nice-to-have but it would never influence whether I watch a drama or not.

Yes, she knows she is fake but seems to have some delusions of grandeur.
She was a random beggar who they picked up off the street because she resembled the real Di Ziyuan. She just wanted a decent meal so was willing to take the role. She has been taught all of DZY's history during her ten years on the mountain.
She does, however, not know who or where the real DZY is.
