A few things did not aged very well like: - the relationship with the fee he almost rapped her and treated like an enfant…she had an heart transplant she is not incapacitated good gracious. But it was 2003 and we all know what awful scenes in media were perceived as normal back then. - their incapacity to express what they want clearly and loudly like a real adults and go with the most powerful persons or older person wants - around episode 16-18 it was a bit repetitive and long. Other than that it’s a classic. Saw it way back then and was so happy to watch it again. One of those dramas that have inspired so many after. The music is divine. The 2 leads were beautiful (still are). For anyone learning Korean in those all drama they speak way more slowly and distinctively so very easy to understand. Definitely a most watch
After looking for it for months, I finally managed to find a copy in Korean. The Korean subtitles helped but I hope to watch it again with English subtitles too, to make sure I understood everything. Compelling, modern and sweet story
Don’t get fooled by the cast and the number of episodes. This is not really family drama it’s more a makjang where the 100 episodes are going in pair to make 50. We have all the codes of this genre that are gathered: overbearing music, exaggerated dramas, slaps, fake crying, attempts murder, pretend dead coming back to life, secret origins… Actors that are listed are main characters here aren’t and Kim Soo Mi listed as support is in every episodes and one of the main roles without a doubt. - I hated that the 2 husbands that were abusive, violent and harassing with their wives had some magic redemption without doing real work and giving real sincere apologies. When you know the number of women that die every day murdered by their husbands it just made me wanna vomit. They went too far with the badmouthing and the violence to make it acceptable at the end. it felt very misogynistic to not let that poor mother getting rid of her ugly husband just because once he bring her kimbap…are you kidding me! In term of acting their disputes were really well played and I wished they had one heartfelt scene like in Marriages when the third couple decided to break up they had nearly a full episodes dedicated to that conversation and it was well written raw and sincere. - many characters and plots were inconsistent, the brother that did not like his wife and was by the way awful too wirh his sister and mother, suddently is someone's else. Go jung do starts the drama as the perfect man of the show, good husband good subtitute father figure and suddenly is an asshole and disappear of the drama easily 12 episides before the end…like the rest of his famiky (Song Kang included) Sorry they have 2 stupid 20 s scene on episode 50 just for us to remember they did not die. - I hated the several vilains that wer way over the top, pure makjang style that should have get arrested right at the beginning but you have to suffer them right to the end. Here one of the vilain disappear but he replaced by another one. - main couple starts very strong and then so bland are their story is too focused on the business drama. So their relation is not very compelling after 15 episodes. - it looking like the scenario has been written by 2 different persons the beginning is so different from the second half. Maybe the author had a stoke… - the attraction for me is the mother-daughter duo Kim Soo Mi and real life step-daughter Seo Hyo Rim they were adorable they carry the show with Kim Gab Soo. They bring so much humor and their chemistry was so visible. I felt sad for Ohn Joo Wan and Choi Soo Young they are clearly bland next to scene stealers and more strong actors. - I liked the mother Kim Mi Sook and only regret that she stayed and that sad marriage, the drama opened with her request for a separation but she stayed way too long and caved at the end… For the makjang style that I personally don’t like it felt correct had they had 4 string actors.
Not the drama I remembered. Must have watched it at the same time as the Greatest Marriage or Oh my God for some reason I thought they were in the TV industry. First episodes were ok until 7 or 8, full Korean comedy than the tone drastically changed and starting episodes 12 it’s just boring. I wasn’t impressed by the end even if they struggled to bounce on their feet. I don’t know which great casting director thought that Shin HaKyun could pass for 34 in 2014, the guy clearly looked his age: 40 which makes that story even creepier next to Jang Nala who was looking 25 to 28 max. Shin HaKyun had a great smile (amazing body during the pretend naked scenes) he could have done a nice father figure but as love interest for a young woman hell no. The fact that they made his character goes after the woman even after he knew his son liked her, showed what a crappy father he portrayed and a horrible, selfish lover. In his position he had nothing to offer to a young woman. He should have giving up and build more a father-daughter relationship especially as he knew her deceased father. There is always a thin line between cute and ridiculous and to me the relation between the leads was ridiculous and childish. I heard he did work a lot, did not like the mother of his son but common a guy in his 70 acting like he is discovering relationship like a 15-year-old it’s ridiculous. How can they struggle to make mature believable relationship. Either it’s dry like stale bread or the couple is bickering all the time. The father and son relation even after they made up was not compelling to me, him starting singing lullabies at night to a 30-year dude…come on. Just stupid! It was a great idea to cast Jeon Gookhwan as his brother they have a little something that made it believe but they should had switch between is wife and his sister. It would had made a more harmonious trio. After painfully catching up with this drama I understand why my memory fully erased it. There were way better dramas made in 2014. This one is bad.
Still 2 episodes to go but lord that drama is so bland. No savor…pretty useless and boring drama. They didn’t even take avantage of the beautiful scenery like in Azure spring. Shin YeEun deserves better!!! Way better!
Going back to the oldies love that area of kdramas and Jang Nala. No vilains. No race to take over a conglomerate. No amnesia. No car accident. The story is quite simple but I really like these 18 hours journey
I think this is better than love phobia, as someone who tried to watch that
According to whom? Basically you are saying that content that primarily target women have to be stupid, badly produced…think whatever you want. I strongly doubt that all women are in agreement and reduce themselves to stupidity
Ok. Maybe I didn’t hear properly. As it’s 2003 it should be Korean age that would makes her 14 in international age…I have a really hard time to imagine people thinking it’s fine and even funny to have a comedy with a forced marriage with a teenager…(age of consent in Korea it’s 16 (international age) a minor can have intercourse with someone below 18 and at 18 be with an adult. I believe parents can give consent for their child starting 14 but I thought that other party needed to be a minor too)

Maybe it still doesn’t look like a good quality drama. The acting is mediocre, the characters are very cliché even on a technical standpoint it’s full of flaws
I was curious as Hulu picked up this show but the cast looked weak to me and the storyline very thin…This remembers me so far Love Phobia earlier this year. Poor cast, poor storyline and poor execution. Sound effects are pretty annoying, editing is not premium…😬😬
It isn’t the drama I recalled. I knew I saw a bit back then as the green tracksuits and that garage were engraved in my memory. But Last 20 episodes were pretty boring. Lot of screaming, ugly crying, some characters were pretty despicable, older sister had a pitiful storyline, too many things were not making sense at all…I finished it only for the 2 leads! Their story was the most appealing part, but family dynamics were old-fashioned, toxic and chaotic.

I tried but I am just a regular member …
