In the Drama he was briefly mention at the end he just became king and rule after Li Ce death. If you want to know…
A lot of the events involving Li Ce that happen in Rebirth and Princess Agents did occur in the novel. Out of all the characters, Li Ce is the closest to his novel counterpart. He truly cares for and loves Chu Qiao throughout his life, and even after he dies, he still arranges a huge wedding dowry for Chu Qiao and Zhuge Yue.
Li Ce has three sons: the eldest, Li Xiuyi, who becomes emperor after Li Ce’s death at only six years old; the second, Li Qiao’an, who dies; and his third son, Li Qingrong, whom he has with Zhan Ziming and who appears in the drama.
Li Ce’s death is caused by the scheming of the Zhan siblings, Zhan Ziyu and Zhan Ziming. Zhan Ziming is the one who initially injures him, but it is Zhan Ziyu who allows the Empress back into the palace, where she ultimately kills him. The Empress does this because, a few years earlier, Li Yan rebelled and was suppressed by Li Ce, who then executed him. The Empress takes revenge for her son by killing her other son, which makes their relationship in the drama fairly accurate.
Before Li Ce dies, he speaks with Chu Qiao and she agrees to help him. Afterward, the novel largely plays out similarly to the drama. Chu Qiao helps stabilize the court, takes revenge for Li Ce by killing both of the Zhan siblings, and then helps Li Ce’s eldest son ascend to the throne. She does this by using an edict with a blank title, effectively becoming the Empress Dowager.
Chu Qiao also takes Li Ce’s youngest son with her and raises him. He stays with her until the end of the novel. The novel describes him as looking very similar to Li Ce, and there are multiple moments where, when Chu Qiao looks at him, she is reminded of Li Ce.
There is also an exchange between Chu Qiao and Li Qingrong when Chu Qiao is pregnant with her daughter (they do not yet know the baby’s gender). At the time, Li Qingrong was eight years old.
He makes a remark to Chu Qiao. (Something to note: Chu Qiao’s character by the end of the novel is very different from how she is portrayed in Princess Agents or Rebirth. The novel truly follows her journey from youth to adulthood, which neither drama fully captures.)
"Even though he was still young, his eyes were the same as Li Ce’s. His long eyes were like a fox as he kept them half closed as he looked over at her. He suddenly smiled. “If Aunt managed to give birth to a sister, when she grows up, just marry her to me.”"
and
"The young boy smiled. “Aunt, I want a sister to be my wife. Therefore, you and the King need to try your best.” Seeing how even such a young kid started to tease her, Chu Qiao was rather at a loss. She scolded him lightly though he kept his smiling face."
It occurred to me several episodes in that Rebirth is best seen as fanfiction or an alternate universe. I was…
If it give you any solace, Chu Qiao did achieve what she wanted in life at the end of the novel.
Funny enough, the drama ending also points toward it ... but there was zero setup in rebirth to indicate that. So most people will miss it without knowing what happen in the novel
Ep 19-20: When LQQ argued with XM, he only kept on asking what she wanted him to do. Because he couldn't say what…
He not a blank canvas like you claim though...
throughout the story he literally not a character that feels nothing.... he literally show empathy to variety of people... When he was an official in Wei county he did what he did to prevent people from suffering.
He save Tai Yi when he was young because he felt bad that he was bully. And even when he saw how the immortality pill have created so much bloodshed... he literally beat up his disciple cause of it and lecture him how he forgot his teaching..... how is this a character that feel nothing?
Heck he even save the Female Lead because he felt bad that he deceive her and she want through all of that to avenged him.
"For example, Wei Shuanguan was shown as stubborn and straightforward, but never unintelligent. He was powerful and action-driven, yet in the later episodes he is pushed into the background. His transformation into a dragon should have been a major moment, but it ended up feeling underwhelming and did not lead to much impact."
I bet Wei Shuanguan was pretty confused how he end up in VoS 😣
The ending isn’t the only problem with Rebirth is how they got there. But again, just like people can interpret…
"I personally understand why you hate this show. I can repeat every reason behind the hate. I witness the weaknesses, too. But it doesn't hurt or anger me, because I understand the reason behind those weaknesses. I accept them and move with the strengths.
I believe that every work, every story, has value, including this one. So, it is important to remain fair and balance our perspective with differing opinions. Do not assume that only your eyes are open while mine are blind. My eyes are open as well, through appreciation."
Lol, it's funny how you can grandstand this hard.
People like you are the funniest people here. Stop being performative. Read the first comment I typed; you literally point out that people misunderstood the ending. And I told you it's not just about the ending.
But now you're telling me it's ok to have different opinions on it? When you literally are in another post with someone else agreeing with them cause they say people's opinions are incorrect cause they are confused whether it's an open ending or a sad ending. Not only that, but that person mocked others for not being able to see how clear the ending was.
Yup, you are so open-minded!
And you are acting here as if you are the victim.... You literally call others out for being "incorrect". Though you didn't directly say that, no amount of word salad can hide your intention.

With a comment like this, you should just move on.
In fact, all you've written to me so far has proved you "have closed yourself from any input that differs from what you believe?"
Don't pretend you are open to things when you're clearly closed-minded about them.
Maybe English is not your first language, but what you wrote before this suggests you want to debate it. There's nothing to debate about. If you think Rebirth is great, that's cool. It's just that the majority of people don't... and again, I say it's not just about the ending.
What she truly wanted at the end of the novel is not a utopia.
Her characterization after the Ice Lake in the Novel and Rebirth is very different.
In Rebirth, she remains the idealistic, head strong youth she once was in PA... as in the novel, she continues to grow

Plot wise is vastly different
Everyone in Rebirth have the correct name from the novel, setting wise it more faithful to the novel as well

The hypocrisy is just hilarious.
