I was refraining from saying too much about the script as I read the novel. But to people who are talking about how the script.
I kinda saw this coming. It was weird for me to watch the drama so far, as it follows the novel... the events all happen, but some are happening out of order. It's like the scriptwriter took the novel and wrote a new story over it, but now they are trying to make sure the novel's events work with the ones they created.
Mainly because the biggest change is that LXY and JLF's dynamic, also, he is a demon lord, and a demon clan exists. Greater emphasis was placed on Tong Zhou and JLF due to endless misunderstandings between the leads. (None of this ever happened in the novel.)

Well Rebirth created alot of thing up as well cause it only cover the remaining 81+ Chapter of the novel.
Most Novel to Drama adaptation would not adapted what I just told you mainly cause whoever the ML would not be to happy that they getting less screen time.
But the story is Chu Qiao story, it always been Chu Qiao story. PA and Rebirth is like 75-85% the novel.
She like Yan Xun at the start, They never included this scene but event after the bath house with Chu Qiao and Zhuge Yue... shortly after that Zhuge actually confessed to Chu Qiao, she didnt really say no, but she told Zhuge that she need to go back to Yan Xun.
But your mind when to rebound, which just seem silly to me. Loving someone after someone else just count as rebound ? Maybe we just dont see eyes to eyes. I understand why it not entertaining to you, im just explaining to you how it was in the novel and to why it wouldnt work in the drama cause of billing and lead status.
As to why I saw your original comments about "Playing the field"... cause she wasn't there nothing wrong with loving multiple person. at different point in time.
To be clear Chu Qiao literally when from like 7-8 to late 20 or early 30 by the end of the novel.

Well that the fault of the director, they spend way to much time setting up the story in the first 1-20 episode... and they end up finishing it... and then we get Rebirth to continue the story after ice lake scene.
The problem is Chu Qiao relationship with the SML was her first love and ML was her True Love. I know you might be annoyed by it, but that how the story suppose to be.
Well, JLF master's book exists.... It seems like they are merging Yeshas into a single character... are the scriptwriters geniuses? Or are they lost in their own plot?

Are you sure it's not your expectation that "everything is better than reality"? That is changing the story from what it is to what you want it to be?
