Bloated
There were definitely things I enjoyed about Vincenzo but overall I found it quite bloated. It would have done better at 16 episodes.
Unlike others I didn’t find the blend of humour and noir off putting. In fact the humour is probably what kept me coming back. What I did have trouble with was some of the more serious aspects of the show. For instance when Vincenzo fails to recognize who the bad guy is in the tunnel scene it was very off putting. Vincenzo is supposed to be an incredibly smart guy and yet even with the bad guy’s phone ringing when Vincenzo calls the number somehow he misses the clue. The explanation is too weak for words.
I also had trouble with the way the character’s actions didn’t always fit what we knew about them. The goons became loveable guys, Vincenzo the incredibly savvy Mafiosa, made major errors, the FL goes from I hate violence to yeah I’m good with that brutality in no time. The story needed more editing and more paring down.
I also found the ending difficult. To go from an abundance of humour to two incredibly violent deaths was too much for me. Vincenzo was a bad guy, an anti her. I get that but those deaths were absolutely over the top in my opinion.
